Catherine Hardwicke: If I Stay...

Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke plans to reunite with Summit Entertainment and direct an adaptation of the young-adult novel If I Stay.

The book, by Gayle Forman (“Sisters in Sanity”), hits shelves April 2. According to Variety, the story centers on 17-year-old gifted classical musician Mia and her indie rockstar boyfriend who’s forced to choose between life and death when she’s in a car accident with her family.

The Twilight DVD came out on Friday, with cast members making surprise midnight madness appearances.

I think Catherine really captured the mood of twilight.. I really liked that the special effects were low key. i think all that over the top secial effects stuff takes away the essense of the story.
I wish she would direct all of the series. She totally understood the the perspective of a 17 yo girl and the pain and anguish of love.

Good for her, As directing teenagers she’s pretty great at it. She will do wonders with the project Congrats.
NOW IF WE COULD ONLY GET DREW BARRYMORE TO DIRECT ECLIPSE!!!!!!!!!!

I don’t think Catherine quite has the capacity to direct movies that are bound to be popular. She tried hard with Twilight, but it’s time to let pro directors take care of it.

Sorry, but I don’t think Hardwicke did a spectacular job with Twilight. If she had ultimate responsibility for casting then she goofed up on a lot of the characters if meant to stay true to the book: Carlisle, Rosalie, Alice. I’ll give her a pass on Jacob and Edward. Unfortunately, cast is remaining the same but hopefully the new directors will put a different spin on the rest of the saga.

She certainly contributed towards Twilight’s huge success. With the small budget, I beleive she did very well. People need to stop being so critical. If Summit is re-hiring her then evidently she’s doing something right. Just because some people didn’t like Twilight, there’s a whole lot of other people who did. She also directed 13 which won an award and it had a lot of positive feedback from critics. I think she will capture the romance and the theme of the movie very well. I would also love to see someone like Vanessa Hudgens in this role because its something different and could really show her dramatic side. I would also like to see Rober Patterson, Scott Porter, or Shia Labouf star along side her or maybe a handsom new comer. Just my opinion. Don’t blast me for it.

i don’t think she’s a brilliant director. i mean twilight was a really amazing movie but not something that can make me choose her for the second film! and by the way i am totally FOR drew barrymore directing eclipse! i really love her as an actress and think she will do a great job!
i am happy for catherine and i wish her the best of luck with her career!
xoxo

She was smart to cast Robert Pattinson as Edward, so she has the talent to discover new (or relatively new) talent.
Certainly the part of the rockstar boyfriend in “If I stay” sounds like a part Rob could easily play, but would he have the time to do it with his “Twilight” commitments?

She made a good choice by casting Robert
i love her movie Lords of Dogtown & Thirteen
i think she is a good director

She may have captured the essence of Twilight but the movie was horribly directed. The makeup was atrocious. The movie should’ve been 10 mintues longer to explain a couple more things and she left out Bella and Edward’s first kiss in the meadow.

i hate her. twilight was s bad. terrible director.

why have a special thing around twilight
its the dumbest book ive read
kids my age dont have any taste these days

whatever, yo @ 03/22/2009 at 11:35 pm

CATHERINE cast Rob in the lead!!!! Rockstar boyfriend, I bet he’d be GREAT! I’ll see it and buy the DVD!!!! :o)

My family friends and I would love to see Robert and Kristen in ‘If I stay’. Both of them act very well and have the special chemistry when acting together. Kristen is a great actress and has acted with many actors but I have not seen that great chemistry with others. I have seen Roberts clipses and movies and none of it has shown that great chemistry he had with Kristen when acting. So I am sure If I stay would be a great success if they are both given the lead roles.

I would also love to see Rob and Vanessa in this. I think she has a very romantic and serious. I can imagine them in a kissing scene. Also, Cathrine directed her in 13. This would give everyone an opportunity to see her serious side in a movie. Although it is a teen movie, this could be a great career move and allow her to build her resume.

that picture is so awkward!!!

I really enjoyed the film version of Twilight. I am happy with the casting choices and the screenplay. I hope that the same crew works on all four of the installments. Most times, the movie version doesn’t have any of the magic that the novel creates. I waited to read the first book until after I saw the movie.
