Terrence Howard: Fighting To The Finish

I ran into Terrence Howard at the after-party for his Fighting premiere at Marquee lounge in New York City on Monday night (April 20).

Since the 40-year-old actor has a funny accent throughout Fighting, I asked him what kind of accent it was. He joked, “old Jewish lady.”

Unfortunately for Terrence, he won’t be reprising his role in Iron Man 2 since he was replaced in the sequel by Don Cheadle after a rumored dispute with producers over salary issues. Terrence obviously doesn’t think it was a good decision. He told Parade, “Marvel made a choice, and it was a very, very bad choice. They didn’t keep their word. They didn’t honor my contract. They produced a great bounty with the first one but they put it all in the storehouse and you were not allowed in. They did the same thing with Gwyneth Paltrow, from what I’ve been told. They did it with almost everyone except Robert Downey [Jr.]. One of the things that actors need to learn to do is always stick together, one for all and all for one.”

Is he really serious? Maybe Robert Downey was “allowed in” because he WAS the movie. Howard’s part and Gwyneth’s part could have been played by anyone. It wouldn’t have mattered. Downy is the movie. We saw how Batman changed females from Katie to Maggie, and it didn’t matter one bit. Really, some of these supporting actors get too full of themselves.

    What a whiney bitch.

If he had a VALID legal contract he could have sued them. So obviously he wasn’t GUARANTEED a reprisal of his role. I’m glad Don Cheadle got the go ahead; Howard gets on my nerves. He should stop bellyaching and be happy that he still is getting work in Hollywood. He obviously doesn’t realize that Robert Downey Jr. was the ONLY one essential to the movie. He’s a moron that thinks more of himself than he should.

I think there was more to it than salary issues.

@essie: Are you for real?… Cheadle – good actor… But honestly, not much to look at, and movies are a visual fantasy. Terrence Howard – good actor, great looking, ultimate fantasy lover… In this case, the executives made the wrong decision! Seriously, the more you see of Howard, the more you want to see…
