Brad Pitt: Sumo Wrestler Help!

Brad Pitt continues filming his commercial for Japanese cell phone company Softbank with his favorite sumo wrestler in Midtown Manhattan on Wednesday (April 29).

The 45-year-old actor was seen holding up the sumo wrestler, who was already held up with four different suspension wires.

Last night, Brad was played the sumo wrestler’s umbrella holder. This looks like it’s going to be another fun one!

cl @ 04/30/2009 at 2:49 am Way to go Brad! Selling out! It’s probably wise to make a load of money doing a foreign commercial than actually trying to make it as a dramatic preformer in the movies. You and Angie belong together. And not in an admirable way.

Way to Go Jen Selling Out.. pimping water bottled . The worst commercial, way to go to pollute the earth Maniston.

Not to mention than Maniston make a load of money doing p*rn like commercials on GQ than actually trying to make it as a serious professional actress in the movies. She doesn’t belong to Hollywood, she belongs to Hollywood Boulevard as a professional prostitute.

This means he will die soon, folks?

Since Brad belongs to Angie, how about introducing the Sumo Wrestler to Jen. Since she is looking for a Man bigger than Brad, this wrestler is bigger than BraD PHYSICALLY (only)and might just be the answer to our prayers.
Please wrestler, hook up with Jen so the Jolie-Pitts will have peace that they deserve.

Yay. He looks SO much better without the fug mustasch, hope I never have to see it again!!

Man, that is funny. Don’t laugh, Huvane is calling around as I type. Gotta get that Sumo Wrestler phone number for his #1 client.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

The idea of a man whose body ages in reverse sounds gimmicky, yet this elegant rendering of an F. Scott Fitzgerald story is anything but thanks to technically flawless execution. Directed by David Fincher, the film’s lyrical profundity is enhanced by Alexandre Desplat’s score and Brad Pitt’s self-effacing turn as a son of New Orleans born a shriveled octogenarian who grows physically younger as the decades pass. Why the fantasy narrative enthralls isn’t easy to pinpoint. That it doesn’t seem fantastic at all is a testimony to its emotional power. Cate Blanchett’s presence is an asset. So too is the absence of any manipulative sentimentality. Rated PG-13. Four stars

Hilarious Brad Pitt photos
We don’t need much persuasion to publish totally gratuitous photographs of Brad Pitt, but when they laugh, so much the better.

These hilarious snaps come courtesy of an advert Brad was filming in New York City last night. The commercial, which is being created for Japanese eyes only (thank the Internet Gods for YouTube), sees Pitt play butler to a larger-than-life sumo wrestler to help promote Japanese mobile phone company Softbank.

‘In the commercial, it’s raining and it looks like Brad is the bodyguard for a sumo wrestler,’ an on-set snoop told JustJared.com. ‘To simulate the rain, they had hoses propped up on cranes. The set looked amazing!’

Film boomlet hits New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS — For years, New Orleans has been a mixed bag for Hollywood producers: Some have shot their movies in the city, taking advantage of state tax credits and the city’s exotic charms, while others have bypassed the Big Easy because of a shortage of soundstages.

Now a pair of studio projects emerging in and near New Orleans have raised the hope that more movie and television projects are coming — and along with them, extra revenue that can help the ongoing recovery effort from the 2005 hurricanes.

The number of major television and movie projects shot in New Orleans jumped from nine in 2005 to 21 last year — a record for the city, says Jennifer Day, head of the city’s film and video office. Last year’s projects generated $230 million in direct economic impact for the city, she says.

Part of the appeal are tax credits. But a big part is also the city’s unique architecture and diverse landscape, says Joshua Throne, unit production manager for The Expendables, a movie starring and directed by Sylvester Stallone.

Even after Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans’ charms are unlike other cities in the U.S., Throne says. “You combine the unique architecture and aesthetics with generous state tax credits … and it makes for a good place to film a movie,” he says.

New Orleans has been host to movies such as The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, starring Brad Pitt, and the upcoming HBO series Treme, by writer-producer David Simon, creator of The Wire.

As the economy soured, city officials braced for a downturn this year in movie and TV productions, Day says — but New Orleans has six major projects in production, she says.

Ten miles west of Second Line Stages, Wayne Read and Dan Forman are retrofitting a former Winn-Dixie distribution center to complete what will be the area’s largest movie studio: 525,000 square feet, including five soundstages spread over 25 acres. The Louisiana Film Studios, a $30 million project, will be the largest studio east of Albuquerque.

“We have productions that we have lost to other markets because of lack of infrastructure,” Read says. “Our goal is to capture that.”

Read says he got the idea for the studio after working as a film consultant on Benjamin Button and realizing there was a need for soundstages and offices. He and Forman, the studio’s president, had planned to open later this year, but Hollywood came knocking: Two movie productions —The Expendables, starring Stallone and Mickey Rourke, and independent production Dead of Night— needed space right away. They opened the studios in February.

Wow Brad looks great. I love a man in a suit. Especially Brad! hehee..

Great to see the regulars are sill around. XX

Pittaro on deck for stardom

Pitt and Pitt. Brad Pitt and Chris Pittaro. One of the biggest movie stars in the world and Hamilton’s own. Together on the silver screen.

Several years ago, when the great George King was the Major League Baseball correspondent for The Times, he wrote a feature on Pittaro, the former major-league infielder who was just beginning his second career as a scout in the Oakland Athletics’ organization, and noted Pittaro’s “Hollywood good looks.” Finally, all these years later, Tinseltown has come calling.

Spoke with former Thunder pitching coach Rick Peterson the other day, and he said that Michael Lewis’ best-selling book “Moneyball,” on how the small-market A’s were able to compete against the big-money organizations by using statistical analysis as well as scouting to evaluate players, was being made into a movie. Peterson, who was Oakland’s pitching coach during the 2002 season which Lewis spent with the team, is going to play himself. So, too, is manager Art Howe as well as former players David Justice and Scott Hatteberg. Pitt, the Hollywood icon, has signed up to play general manager Billy Beane.

“As if Billy’s ego needs any boosting,” said Peterson, laughing.

Who, I wondered, was going to play Pittaro, who is featured prominently in the book? So I called Chris, and he said, “Someone you know very well. Me.”

Chris has met with the director, Steven Soderbergh, who directed films such as “Erin Brockovich,” “Sex, Lies and Videotape,” and “Ocean’s Eleven,” “Ocean’s Twelve” and “Ocean’s Thirteen.” Chris has also spoken with the casting director, who told him he’d be “needed for 12 days of shooting this summer, but I don’t know if it will be in Hollywood or Oakland or wherever. I really don’t know how they’re going to work it or if I’ll even have any scenes with Brad Pitt. I guess I’ll have my people call his people and find out.”

Pittaro, the director of professional scouting for the A’s, says this all started to come about last fall when rumors that “Moneyball” was going to be made into a movie began to circulate. Little by little, he’d hear about Soderbergh coming aboard to direct, then in February the news that Pitt was going to be involved came forth and that comedian Demetri Martin was going to portray Paul DePodesta, who was Beane’s right-hand man during the 2002 season.

“Paul’s a little ticked that a Yale man is going to play him,” Pittaro said of DePodesta, a Harvard graduate.

“About a month ago, Eric Kubota (Oakland’s scouting director) called and asked me if I was sitting down,” said Pittaro. “Then he told me I was going to play myself. I’m looking forward to it. It should be a lot of fun. I really need to re-read the book, though. But how hard can it be to play yourself?”

Also making the list again this year is gorgeous Angelina Jolie. Jolie, 33, is a regular on most magazines’ “sexiest” and “most beautiful” lists, so her latest inclusion is a no-brainer. Angelina Jolie 100 Most Beautiful People angelina jolie 100 Most Beautiful People

Angelina is currently filming her new movie, Salt, in New York City and Washington, D.C., The Oscar winner has been causing a stir among residents of Oyster Bay, N.Y. (on Long Island), where Jolie and her family have been staying while she shoots Salt.

On April 18, Angelina was spotted at a local supermarket with partner Brad Pitt, 45, and two of their daughters: Zahara, 4, and Shiloh, 3.

Brangelina has also been spotted grabbing snacks at the local Dunkin Donuts and picking up supplies at CVS. Everyone who has met the superstar couple say Brad and Angelina are warm and friendly. “The reaction across-the-board seems to be, ‘Wow, they’re very nice people.’ It seems that people like them and like having them here,” says Oyster Bay Town Supervisor John Venditto.

Meanwhile, Katherine Pastore, a manager at the local Stop & Shop, agrees. “They looked out of place because they were so beautiful,” she says. “They looked like they were airbrushed when they were walking. I went up to Brad and asked if he needed help and he said, ‘No thanks.’ I was looking at him but I don’t really remember it – it was like a dream.”

Angelina’s spy thriller Salt opens in July 2010, while Rob Pattinson’s New Moon hits theaters in November 2009.
