Jennifer Aniston Plays In Central Park

Jennifer Aniston shoots a scene sitting down on a park bench on the set of The Baster on Thursday (May 14) in Central Park, New York City.

The 40-year-old actress recently shared a story of her breaking up with a former boyfriend. “I broke up with a guy and he tried to get back together with me by bringing his mother to a restaurant I worked at and getting down on one knee in the middle of the restaurant. The whole restaurant started applauding and I was like, ‘Get up!’ It was horrible,” Jen told USA Today.

The former Friends star also shared about what she would be doing if she weren’t in acting. “That’s such a tough question. I would say, probably something in the health industry,” Jen said. “It’s too late to go to medical school. I’d travel. I’d go back to the years that I never did what I’d wish I’d done, which was travel Europe and backpack. That sounds slightly romantic.”

    From Previous Thread:

    OT – kinda…

Because I am a thoughtful kind of person and I know y’all are wondering how many tens of dollars misManagement COULD make this weekend…I’ve done a little detective work.
    .
    - According to BOM misManagement, as I predicted MONTHS AGO, will be opening in a whopping 212 theaters. Unfortunately they don’t say whether or not these are dollar theaters. I would like to offer my congrats to X because she did manage to top the 8-theater opening of Jessica Simpson’s Legally Blond Meets Private Benjamin ripoff.
    .
    - Rottentomatoes.com currently lists the movie at 55% “fresh”. There are 31 reviews – 17 Fresh and 14 Rotten. Under “Average Rating” it is listed as 5.9 out of 10. (BBBWWWWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!)
    .
    - Metacritic.com currently lists the dud at 50 out of 100, based on 12 reviews. I hope Roger Ebert’s cancer hasn’t gone to his brain because he gave the movie the highest score – 75.
    .
    - I have bravely waded through the snippets at the two sites above and grabbed some of the fun comments, ie, THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS, for your evening chuckles…
    .

    From Metacritic -
    .
    - Score: 63 – USA Today – Claudia Puig
It’s a sweetly strange yet uneven comedy, with a charming lead performance by Steve Zahn offset by a lackluster one from Jennifer Aniston.
    .
    - Score: 60 – The Hollywood Reporter – Peter Brunette
Ultimately delivers the goods, even if the goods aren’t very fresh.
    .
    - Score: 50 – Miami Herald – Connie Ogle
It’s pretty much a waste of everyone’s time, especially yours.
    .
    - Score: 50 – LA Weekly – Aaron Hillis
Each new superfluous Jennifer Aniston rom-com is already met with low expectations, but add some overcooked, middlebrow Indiewood quirk and you’ve got cinema’s purest shade of beige.

    .
    - Score: 38 – Boston Globe – Ty Burr
Sometimes a cute-stalker movie can win the audience’s heart. Management only makes you ponder the line between true love and a restraining order.
    .
    - Score: 25 – Entertainment Weekly – Owen Gleiberman
Isn’t it time Steve Zahn grew up? Ever since the ’90s, this walking quirk of an actor has pushed his dazed solipsistic zaniness (he’s like Michael J. Fox’s hillbilly cousin), but he’s 41 now, and it no longer looks cute on him.
    .
From Rottentomatoes – all ROTTEN ratings…
    .
    - Connie Ogle – Miami Herald (A more complete and cutting quote than the one above)
Management isn’t even a good stalker-training film. It’s pretty much a waste of everyone’s time, especially yours.
    .
    - Luke Y. Thompson – E! Online
Another Psycho remake? Not quite — this is actually a slightly unsettling romantic comedy starring Jennifer Aniston and Steve Zahn.
    .
    - Alonso Duralde – MSNBC
Romance isn’t about logic, but seriously — the way Mike keeps popping up in Sue’s life, unbidded, from a long distance, comes off as more than just a bit creepy and not at all charming
    .
    - James Berardinelli – ReelViews
Poor scriptwriting decisions and a failure to advance the romance in a gradual, credible fashion doom whatever chances this could have had to enrapture audiences.
    .
    - Owen Gleiberman – Entertainment Weekly
    An indie dud.
    .
    - Gary Thompson Philadelphia Daily News
This is one motel comedy that does not warrant an extended stay.

    ———
Holy sh*t!!! No matter how many times Bet and Ellie watch fugly jen’s new movie, it will be a stinking bomb at the box office. Sorry Jen can’t use a dog or a male major movie star or a well known assembly cast to bail her out this time. Can we say F A I L!!!!!!!!!

    Continued from above:

Sorry to harp on this…but…I can’t stop laughing at Owen
Glieberman’s review of misManagement. It’s up on the EW website. Here’s the whole review – it’s short, but hilarious – and I bolded the line that cracked me up. Obviously Owen Glieberman doesn’t know that X’s prod company co-produced this “Indie dud” and that SHE is the one who pushed to get it made. Any grimacing Glieberman sees isn’t a grimace – it’s just her usual sucky acting.

In the indie dud Management, he’s a slacker motel clerk who comes on to a guest — a corporate lonely girl played by Jennifer Aniston in lank brown hair and a why-did-I-ever-say-yes-to-this-script? grimace. She proceeds to not treat him like the benignly annoying stalker he is. The scene in which Zahn, standing outside Aniston’s house, performs an off-key-warbling-plus-electric-piano rendition of Bad Company’s ”Feel Like Makin’ Love” is obviously intended to be a parody of John Cusack’s famous boom-box serenade in Say Anything. But here’s a question for contemplation: Just because the moment is meant to be cringe-worthy, does that make the cringing any less painful? Grade: D

I read on another message board that the Friends Reunion show can be like the old Golden Girls show, with Aniston’s character being Sophia who is always telling stories from the old country, about her long ago conquests; Cox’s is the Dorothy character, Kudrow is the Betty White, and Joey is the new Blanche.
