OlderBrooke Shields to National Enquirer: Shame On You!
Brooke Shields‘s 75-year-old mother, Teri Shields, suffers from dementia and was reportedly checked out of a New Jersey nursing home Thursday by a journalist from the National Enquirer seeking a “tabloid story.”
Brooke, 43, said via a statement to People: “I intend to take every lawful action against all who were involved or who authorized this despicable act. My mother Teri Shields has been diagnosed with dementia. For her safety, she has temporarily been in a senior living facility, a very difficult decision for me.”
The statement continued, “Late Thursday afternoon, I was alerted by Old Tappan Police that my mother had been signed out of the facility by two reporters of the National Enquirer … who falsely claimed they were friends of hers. They then drove my 75-year-old mother around looking for a tabloid story. As anyone knows who has a parent who suffers from dementia or Alzheimer’s, it is one of the most difficult experiences you can go through as a son or daughter. The idea that the National Enquirer took advantage of her state is reprehensible and disgusting.”
Teri was later found unharmed at a restaurant next door to an assisted living center. No arrests have been made yet but that the case remains under investigation.

WTF kind of nursing home is that?! No reputable nursing home will let anyone take a patient out of the facility except a family member, a legal guardian, a staff member or medical personnel (ambulance etc).

Coming from the NE, however, nothing surprises me any more. They have absolutely no sense of common decencey whatsoever.
Enquirer says that the reporter was a 10 year long friend of Brooke’s mom and went to visit her in the facility. The mother asked the reporter/friend to take her out for a drive to run errands and he did. then they went out to lunch. all of this was cleared with the nursing home.
looks like brooke’s publicists are working overtime to keep her in the news. we”ll see if she really sues. or if this is just another attempt to keep her relevant. wonder if she’s pitching a reality show somewhere.
I hope she sues the H*&^ out of the National Enquirer! This is unbelievable but do we expect anything less from them?
This is disgusting and low, I hope she sues and ruin that magazine and ‘reporter’ (if you can call it that…)
