Older'Jon & Kate Plus 8' Premiere Sets Record Ratings
Not surprisingly, the fifth season premiere of Jon & Kate Plus 8 reached a record 9.8 million viewers on Monday.
The premiere episode, “Cake Boss”, garnered TWICE as many viewers as the show’s previous series high, according to THR.
Looks like the plea made by Kate Gosselin‘s sister-in-law Jodi‘s sister Julie, urging viewers not to watch didn’t work!
Julie wrote, “Please don’t watch on Monday. You’re not going to learn anything new by watching. They will only show what they think people want to see and it isn’t real anyway. They will probably drag this out (J&K’s ‘relationship’) for the entire season. They just string the viewers along hoping that they will come back for more.”

I watched this to see if Kate had changed…I think she is even a bigger ***** now. She made this all about her. I think when it was Phoney crying, to make us feel sorry for her. I will never watch this program again. I think she has treated her dogs better than her husband.

Sure it did, it is the same reason why people slow, turn their necks and look at an accident. Doesn’t make it right, but people do.
Jon and Kate really should take some time away from the cameras, the book tour, pap shoots and so on.
School will be out in PA first week of June. Tell TLC you are taking a break and go with your family away. Try and sort it out. They aren’t doing their family any good by trying to play this out in the media.
I watched a highlight of the party in the park. If the paps had become their new “frineds” why have a party in such a public place? There are many places around Reading and Wyomissing where they could have had a party. Once inside the paps would not have been allowed in.
why does people watch that show? I have never seen, and never will. But I hear a lot of negative things about these people. So I am curious as to why people watch.
please leave them alone. i feel so bad for this family, i agree with what jon said last nite, people will say anything for $20,000.
i felt bad for kate, i feel bad for jon. he says he doesnt want this life anymore….no privacy ect, but you signed on for it….what did you really expect.

2- the epidode wasnt called cake boss, just jared. it was called “turning 5 and the future”
cake boss is an entirely different show that came on after jon and kate plus 8.

Jodi’s sister needs to shut the hell up. Jodi and her husband are going around to media outlets selling the story that kate and john have a contract that says he can have other women. So obviously Jodi and her husband want what is best for their nieces and nephews right? selling stories like that so that one day the kids can read about them. Jon and Kate might not be perfect and heck probably are money/ attention whores but that doesn’t mean other adults should be getting involved and make money off of their life it makes them million times worse than Jon and Kate. Poor kids

Julie and Jodi are two different people speaking up about the rediculous farce that jon and kate plus 8 is….
If you read julies blog, and have been a faithful follower of the show, you’ll see that most everything she says is true.
Basically, the fame has gone to kate’s head, and they get most everything paid for by TLC…it’s an interesting blog.
If TLC was a “family based network” like they claim, they’d pull the plug on this show and let this family go it alone…but being the money hungry business that it is, and Kate is feeling the triple income now, they will just continue to keep these two in the media spotlight to make the ratings soar….

I watched the show last night and was surprised to find that Kate played the “victim” to the hilt. Not one word about her bf steve the bodyguard. Its seems clear the show is gonna turn into the Kate show and she is full of herself. The show has lost its charm. I won’t be watching anymore

It is Jon and Kate and their kids whose lives are being invaded by the world. Stick to the subject matter and blame only those who are letting this farce continue – Jon and Kate Gosselin. Only they can stop this, not Julie Jodie or anyone else. THEY DON’T WANNA STOP THE SHOW. KATE LOVES LOVES LOVES LOVES IT. Didn’t you read the People article. She loves the lights, action, everything about being a celebrity. Never said a word about motherhood.
It is incredible that no one sees this for what it is – This is all about ratings and money – The show needs to have at least 7 million viewers to be successful – Getting an new house did not improve the ratings enough – getting a pair of puppies did not help the ratings – renewing vows did not help the ratings – so the latest thing to do is invent a “new story” to build up ratings – This situation is pathetic – Both parents are making their living off of publicizing their children’s lives! Look at some of the facts finally reveled – Jon quit his job 2 years ago (he does not work from home) – Kate has plenty of helpers (all hidden from the camera – a chef, a nutritionist, baby sitters, cleaning personnel and so on) – now add to that how Kate has eliminated “family” from the show (remember Aunt Jodie? and Kate is estranged from her parents and siblings) – the idea is to eliminate any “leaks” to the truth – To continue to make a living off of their kids – an illusion must be created!

I agree with Jon too, people WILL say anything for $20000. J&K aren’t innocent but they’re not as bad as Jodie wants all of us to think.
I don’t watch the show but its sad to hear that so many people tuned in see the drama in these childrens lives. Its almost like an accident you don’t want to see but you can’t help yourself.
I’ve watched this show all along, and everything was so awkward last night! They may be ‘dragging it out’ to get ratings, but there definitely is real trouble in their relationship. Hard to watch, but we’re all curious.
