I think Tabitha is pretty but Marion is such an old lady name. I understand wanting to incorporate family members names but this is overboard!

Maybe little Marion could hook up with Bob Sheen…ha ha ha

Mari and Tabi, cute when shortened…

I don’t really like the name Marion. It does sound like an old lady name. I guess I am one of the few people who likes Tabitha. In fact, if I ever have a daughter, I am going to name her Tabitha.

  • HA!

I love both names. Both are very ladylike and unique, but not crazy. I don’t know why people are getting hung up on the middle names. It’s perfectly normal to want to honor your family by giving your children names of relatives. I doubt they’re going to follow the “James Wilkie” route when addressing them. Can’t wait to see what they look like. They must be thrilled!

Either name is fine. . . very old fashioned, but stable names. As for adding family names, I personally think that is a legacy to heavy for any child to carry. They can learn of family ancestory through family trees. When thinking of a child’s name you have to think of how kids nowadays will react. Is it a name they can make fun of? A name that is indicative of someone else, a president, stripper, murderer, etc.

When I hear the name James Wilkie, I think of James Wilkes Booth, and not the child.

But, as with most other responses, I agree, think of the child first going through life with those names, but at least there not as bad as some other names I have heard, celebrity and non-celebrity.

@LuckyL: Parents have always tried to cram family names into their kids’ names. I don’t think it’s getting out of hand, it’s just getting more noticeable with all the celebrity spawn. Long names aren’t out of the ordinary, either.
