Kate Walsh is all smiles as she enjoys a long lunch with a gal pal at the trendy Italian restaurant Orso on Friday (July 17) in West Hollywood, Calif.
The pair sipped on wine and water while puffing away at their cancer sticks.
The third season of Private Practice kicks off @ 10PM ET/PT on Thursday, October 1 on ABC.

It’s sweet that she’s holding her friend’s hand…I’d be scared, too, if I wasn’t used to having people and cameras in my face all the time.
I love Kate, but I’m glad that, in spite of the fact that Hollywood holds some sway over people’s ideas about politics, alcohol, etc., the vast majority of us (Americans) outside Hollywood no longer think smoking is cool no matter who’s doing it. I suppose that’s why some celebrities lie about whether they smoke and don’t do it at high-profile functions.
Look, she’s in her 40′s, she’s probably been smoking since they invented the wheel. It’s not as if it’s a new habit she’s picked up. Plus, she’s not smoking every time you see her so it can’t be a terribly addictive habit- she just has one now and then. I’m sure if she wanted to she could quit, but at the moment it’s her life, right?
I hate it when fans get so defensive…don’t other people have a right to express their opinions?

But people she is not smoking. Isn’t it obvious that she is doing promo for one of the shows she likes, Mad Men? The cigarette plays a prominent role in that show.
