Summit to Rachelle Lefevre: Liar!

Summit to Rachelle Lefevre: Liar!

Summit Entertainment, the studio behind the Twilight franchise, has responded to Rachelle Lefevre‘s statement made yesterday. (Rachelle was responding to the news that Bryce Dallas Howard would be replacing her as the villain Victoria in the third installment of the Twilight franchise, Eclipse.) Here’s the statement:

“We at Summit Entertainment are disappointed by Rachelle Lefevre’s recent comments which attempt to make her career choices the fault of the Studio. Her decision to discuss her version of the scheduling challenges publicly has forced the Studio to set the record straight and correct the facts.

* Ms. Lefevre‘s representatives were advised as early as April that The Twilight Saga: Eclipse was expected to start shooting in early August.

* If Ms. Lefevre was, as she describes “passionate,” about being part of The Twilight Saga, we feel that she and her representatives would have included us in her decision to work on another film that would conflict with the shooting schedule of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.

* It was not until July 20th that Summit was first informed of Ms. Lefevre’s commitment to Barney’s Version, a commitment we have since been advised she accepted in early June. Summit had acted in good faith that she would be available to fulfill her obligations both in terms of rehearsals and shooting availability for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. We feel that her choice to withhold her scheduling conflict information from us can be viewed as a lack of cooperative spirit which affected the entire production.

* Furthermore Ms. Lefevre took a role in the other film that places her in Europe during the required rehearsal time, and at least ten days of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’s principal photography. This period is essential for both rehearsal time with the cast, and for filming at key locations that are only available during the initial part of production.

* Contrary to Ms. Lefevre’s statement, it is simply untrue that the Studio dismissed her over a ten day overlap. It is not about a ten day overlap, but instead about the fact that The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is an ensemble production that has to accommodate the schedules of numerous actors while respecting the established creative vision of the filmmaker and most importantly the story.

The fact remains that Ms. Lefevre’s commitment to the other project – which she chose to withhold from Summit until the last possible moment – makes her unfortunately unavailable to perform the role of Victoria in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.”

either way twilight SUCKS and this proves it

and to those wanting to flame me: bite it

  • mailey

    snap. she got told.

  • me

She is not a main character. I seen twilight, and I have to say although the acting was good . . .the directing was horrible. It seemed like it was being shot by a college student. For me that is what ruined it. So they made a great decision in getting a new director.

She was like what not even 5 minutes in the first one. So I do not see why the film company could not just shoot around her schedule. If they change to a different actor, it is just going to through the saga off. I have not read the series, but if her character is featured a lot in new moon is it just going to be weird to have a different actress come in and play her in the third.

  • Wendy

Hahah she got OWNED, did she really think a PR piece from her management could avoid the truth to come out?Its simple she had her hand in to many cookie yars, and refused to let any of them fall on the floor. If she was “passionate” about the role she would chose it over the other project, and not withold information to the studio.

  • Joley

What a bunch of bullies. Most of the other cast members also were filming other things during the filming of Twilight, but they accomodated them. Why couldn’t they just work around it. Shame on Summit, trying to blame this all on Rachelle. It won’t be the same without her playing Victoria.

    Summit you suck!!!

  • HockeygurL

Summit blows, Ron Howard is likely going to be directing a film for them now that his spawn is in it. I haven’t seen Twilight yet but with reading some of the comments in support of Rachelle I’d say they made a bad move.

  • Lucas

because they are in Vancouver where the Olympics are about to happen. thus the ‘only available for the beginning of production’ comments. also they have other actors to consider. actors that might have other commitments that hey told Summit about. so Summit told them under advisement.
it sounds to me like Rachelle signed up for this other movie, knowing the production dates but assuming there was no issue so why bother saying anything. but then apparently the europe movie changed her filming dates and now there was a problem. maybe she actually didn’t find out until July 20th or whatever. but by not saying “hey Summit guys, there’s this other movie that would like to use me so is that going to be a problem” before she said yes, she burned a bridge. not filming her parts as scheduled could mean not being able to several months.
as for the recasting, I doubt she found out she was fired when they released that Bryce was taking the role. she’s just spinning this so her fans will still love her.

  • Lucas

they were accommodated because they were upfront. Rachelle apparently wasn’t. it seems the first time they heard about this other role was when she informed them that she was needed in Europe, right in the middle of the start of production on THE movie she is really needed for. Victoria was barely in the first two books, it’s all about Eclipse. why would she have been dumb enough to risk that by signing up for anything during that shoot period. she set herself up to get smacked and got what she asked for

  • lol

saga without the original cast always suck

  • lizzie

  • lizzie

dont worry sweetie, youll find other good roles, i dont worry about you :)

  • elle

Rachelle should have known she is not the only actress in this film and they cant accomodate just her. There are bigger stars in this project then her. If she was so dedicated to be Victoria she would have met with all the obligations needed. Anyways Bryce is a much better actress than Rachelle. She will be a much better Victoria.

  • NIck

It’s really an unfortunate situation. If any of you want to see the first pic of the Volturi – – there’s also a character guide. I liked Rachelle it’s really a shame.

  • marie

That response was harsh and unnecessary.

  • marie

    Opps my spelling.

  • Oh Henry!

who cares about spoiled ungrateful actors. They are lucky to do what they do and get paid what they do.

  • traveler

I get tired of hearing ungrateful actors complain. They should try working a real 40 to 60 hour a week/ 52 weeks a year job for way, way less than money. So, excuse me if I’m not crying any tears for Rachelle here. It’s not like they booted her and left her unemployed. This happened because she had to much work. I’ll save my compassion for the large number of Americans currently without jobs because of the recession.

  • Ekaterina

@Lucas: Her movie is also filming in Canada, for only 10 days. And they’ve been more than happy to accomodate the other actors’ and their projects. Why not her?

Let’s also not forget they considered replacing Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black. They hired him in the first place and then realized, whoops he might not be right? Face it Summit SUCKS.

  • Ekaterina

@traveler: Actors generally work much longer hours than that. Filming a movie or a television show is long, arduous, and intense. Frankly I’d take my 9-6 over the hours actors have to work regularly.

  • lacy

    she will be missed

  • Jessica

Victoria get more air time in “Eclipse” so of course, Rachelle is pissed that she’s not gonna be in the movie.

Rachelle is to blame for this. But hey, she’s gotta do what she needs to do.

I like Bryce Dallas Howard….BUT this is just one of Summit’s attempt to make Eclipse more “credible” by casting “popular” actors.

  • WhyNow?

I know the directing was horrendous. Catherine Hardwicke ruined Twilight in so many ways, too many ways. As a fan of the books I was so disappointed, even embarrassed, by the movie. The acting was horrible.

  • Reality Bites

I love how people are making Bryce sound like a child asking Daddy to secure her a shiny new present.

She is a grown woman, married with a child. She grew up far away from Hollywood and didn’t even watch TV. Never even watched Happy Days until she was an adult and rented the DVD collection.

She was basically discovered by M. Night Shyamalan when he saw her in a Broadway play and cast her without an audition for the Village.

Summit and Eclipse needs her more than she needs them. On top of that she has to take grief for prepubescents and hormone washed teens. Classic!!!

  • marie

She just should have told Summit from the very beginning, “hey, I’d like to do another movie, is that alright with you?”….I do not feel sorry for her at all.

  • shortstarrgore

  • angie

It’s a business decision but I have agree with Summit. It’s an ensemble cast and one person, who is not yet famous for the role, should not hold up production. We’re not talking about a lead character here, like Kristen, Robert or Taylor. And even Taylor had to prove he could pull off the physical transformation necessary for the 2nd film before he was re-signed. We all have to pay our dues and make difficult decisions. She made hers. Live with it. I mean Summit let go of the director for the first film, why would she think that she is somehow, indispensable?

  • Gretch

*biggest eyeroll ever* Give me a break, Summit. Stop biting the hand that feeds you, man. It’s ten days out of 3 months. And how did you find and sign on a new actress in a week’s notice? Rachelle was still in the movie as of last Friday. She’s in one isolated scene. The only one getting the crap side of the stick in this whole thing is the fans. So. Thanks bunches.

  • Bring rachelle back

First off it’s CLEAR many of you know NOTHING about Twilight.

Second, Victoria has a MAJOR role in Eclipse b/c she is the main villian in this movie.

Third, Summit has shown very little loyalty to their actors and I have three examples:

    1. By trying to recast Taylor Lautner and successfully recasting the other Quilette guys
    2. Giving Robert Pattinson almost zero bodyguard protection during filming Remember Me in NYC
    3. Having Rachelle be present at Comic Con then suddenly giving her the boot

Summit would still be nobodies w/ out the Twilight franchise. They’re a small fish in a big pond and obviously don’t know how to properly handle and manage business.

  • Kaylee p

In Eclipse, Rachelle’s character becomes a main player in the story line. Changing the actress now is uncalled for. You would think that Summit would try to look at the situation from a fan’s point of view. The only thing that Summit is interested in is making more money. Give Rachelle her job back!

I think she went to the other job and got caught

  • fresh

That statement is a bit harsh. They should have left it alone—people would hae forgotten in a week.

  • Riza

I don’t believe Summit. I wonder if they’re going to replace Kristen or Robert if they do the same thing. I don’t think so.

  • Who Cares

The response seems pretty unprofessional. Luckily, Summit will most likely falter after this fluke series. I mean, the first movie was tacky pap. But I have higher hopes for New Moon, which was a better book and has a better director.

  • k.

    that sucks.. team rachelle

she can move on and s u c k it at that barney movie.

    pain in the a a s s s s divas who think they’re al that.

  • Nancy

As a professional, she cannot garner sympathy for this one. She had a contract, she accepted another role offer that conflicted with the shooting of something she committed to FIRST, and when they couldn’t work around it, she cried to the media. Ummm… no. You made a choice. Summit made theirs.

In other words, it’s not personal. It’s business.

  • Jen

good. She was horrible as Victoria anyway!

  • Saudia

oh please .. Summit is shady.

  • Mary

This just sucks period. It’s going to be a he said/she said battle so really, who knows who is telling the truth. What I do know is that in every interview I have ever seen with Rachelle, she was always very professional, well spoken and had nothing but the highest regard for the Twilight saga. I just can’t see how she could have deliberately deceived Summit and the fans. She’s just not that type. And really, why would she. With all the hype and fame these young actors are receiving with these films, why would she do this to herself and her reputation at this stage. It just doesn’t make sense. I hope it all works out in the end.

  • Erin

Maybe Summit being a little shaddy, some of you have every right not to like them for previous accounts of trying to recast characters. But this does seem pretty legit. She was to have known in April (hell the fans knew then) that shooting would start in August. Her taking this other job knowing how large of a role she had in the third book was not a smart move. She barely had any acting opportunity in the first movie (she barley spoke, and when she did, she was annoying, and other then that she had glared) so she might have had a better opportunity in the upcoming 3rd film to show she can actually act (I really don’t like her, but I can give her a chance).

Summit does not have to work around her schedule. That would cost them money, and if you little twitards knew better, could set back production, thus setting back the release of the film. It’s not team Rachelle or team Summit on this one people, it’s bussiness and no one cares about how many fans she has or how many won’t go see the movie because of this (she is not that important as the Rob Pattinson or Kristen Stewart, which they would not get rid of. If they did that, there goes any sort of profit).

Be happy they aren’t catering to her after she has blatantly disrespected the production by taking this other job and assuming she would get special treatment. If they did, you wouldn’t get Eclipse till fall and the production of Breaking Dawn would be pushed back as well.

    Just Saying.

  • KC

OOH Burn!! What an idiot to accept a role which was filming at the same time. She tried too have her cake and eat it too. She thought that since VIctoria had a bigger part in Eclipse that he was irreplacable. They showed her!!!

  • Brittany

Of course Summit is only concerned about making money. They’re a movie studio. We’re still in a recession. They need to make money.

Summit also has other films to make, and shouldn’t have to cater around the Twilight fans. Every other media outlet does.

  • Kiki

    I LOVE Rachelle as Victoria.STUPID SUMMIT she’s awesome.S U C K IT STUPID SUMMIT.I want Rachelle back.

  • cara

they made four week accommodations for jackson rathbone who’s shooting a film at the same time. i’m pretty sure all this is for bigger name, more money, and just because her father is an amazing director, doesn’t make her an amazing actress. [example: the village, spiderman 3]

  • Candy

Oh, please! It seems almost obvious that they wanted Bryce for the part or vice versa, Bryce wanted the part.

Unfortunately, Rachelle is the victim. It seems hard to believe anyone would want to mess up or jeopardize a role like Victoria in the Twilight series.

What I do know is that the Howard family lacks integrity. Ron Howard was at the top of my list as far as directors until I found out what he did to Cindarella Man. He lied in the script!!! It is supposed to be a true story and he lied!!!! Max Baer never tried to kill anyone. It was in fact the opposite! He was a good hearted decent man. Ron Howard should be ashamed of himself!

So, to conclude, this certainly does not suprise me coming from the Howard family. She probably wanted the role even at the expense of another actress. As a devoted Twilight fan, and having read all four books, I will not support this new change.

  • Jeanna

the reason why she is so upset is because she really does have a huge part in Eclipse there is a big fight between her and Edward the 1st two books are leading up to this showdown so it is a big slap in the face to her and hopefully a lesson (I bet they got rid of her to teach these other’s that they will replace them if they step out of line)
