Summit to Rachelle Lefevre: Liar!

Summit to Rachelle Lefevre: Liar!

Summit Entertainment, the studio behind the Twilight franchise, has responded to Rachelle Lefevre‘s statement made yesterday. (Rachelle was responding to the news that Bryce Dallas Howard would be replacing her as the villain Victoria in the third installment of the Twilight franchise, Eclipse.) Here’s the statement:

“We at Summit Entertainment are disappointed by Rachelle Lefevre’s recent comments which attempt to make her career choices the fault of the Studio. Her decision to discuss her version of the scheduling challenges publicly has forced the Studio to set the record straight and correct the facts.

* Ms. Lefevre‘s representatives were advised as early as April that The Twilight Saga: Eclipse was expected to start shooting in early August.

* If Ms. Lefevre was, as she describes “passionate,” about being part of The Twilight Saga, we feel that she and her representatives would have included us in her decision to work on another film that would conflict with the shooting schedule of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.

* It was not until July 20th that Summit was first informed of Ms. Lefevre’s commitment to Barney’s Version, a commitment we have since been advised she accepted in early June. Summit had acted in good faith that she would be available to fulfill her obligations both in terms of rehearsals and shooting availability for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. We feel that her choice to withhold her scheduling conflict information from us can be viewed as a lack of cooperative spirit which affected the entire production.

* Furthermore Ms. Lefevre took a role in the other film that places her in Europe during the required rehearsal time, and at least ten days of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’s principal photography. This period is essential for both rehearsal time with the cast, and for filming at key locations that are only available during the initial part of production.

* Contrary to Ms. Lefevre’s statement, it is simply untrue that the Studio dismissed her over a ten day overlap. It is not about a ten day overlap, but instead about the fact that The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is an ensemble production that has to accommodate the schedules of numerous actors while respecting the established creative vision of the filmmaker and most importantly the story.

The fact remains that Ms. Lefevre’s commitment to the other project – which she chose to withhold from Summit until the last possible moment – makes her unfortunately unavailable to perform the role of Victoria in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.”

    She is not a main character. I seen twilight, and I have to say although the acting was good . . .the directing was horrible. It seemed like it was being shot by a college student. For me that is what ruined it. So they made a great decision in getting a new director.

    She was like what not even 5 minutes in the first one. So I do not see why the film company could not just shoot around her schedule. If they change to a different actor, it is just going to through the saga off. I have not read the series, but if her character is featured a lot in new moon is it just going to be weird to have a different actress come in and play her in the third.

    Hahah she got OWNED, did she really think a PR piece from her management could avoid the truth to come out?Its simple she had her hand in to many cookie yars, and refused to let any of them fall on the floor.If she was “passionate” about the role she would chose it over the other project, and not withold information to the studio.

    What a bunch of bullies. Most of the other cast members also were filming other things during the filming of Twilight, but they accomodated them. Why couldn’t they just work around it. Shame on Summit, trying to blame this all on Rachelle. It won’t be the same without her playing Victoria.

    Summit you suck!!!

    HockeygurL Says:

    Summit blows, Ron Howard is likely going to be directing a film for them now that his spawn is in it. I haven’t seen Twilight yet but with reading some of the comments in support of Rachelle I’d say they made a bad move.

    Lucas Says:

    @me:
    because they are in Vancouver where the Olympics are about to happen. thus the ‘only available for the beginning of production’ comments. also they have other actors to consider. actors that might have other commitments that hey told Summit about. so Summit told them under advisement.
    it sounds to me like Rachelle signed up for this other movie, knowing the production dates but assuming there was no issue so why bother saying anything. but then apparently the europe movie changed her filming dates and now there was a problem. maybe she actually didn’t find out until July 20th or whatever. but by not saying “hey Summit guys, there’s this other movie that would like to use me so is that going to be a problem” before she said yes, she burned a bridge. not filming her parts as scheduled could mean not being able to several months.
    as for the recasting, I doubt she found out she was fired when they released that Bryce was taking the role. she’s just spinning this so her fans will still love her.

    @Joley:
    they were accommodated because they were upfront. Rachelle apparently wasn’t. it seems the first time they heard about this other role was when she informed them that she was needed in Europe, right in the middle of the start of production on THE movie she is really needed for. Victoria was barely in the first two books, it’s all about Eclipse. why would she have been dumb enough to risk that by signing up for anything during that shoot period. she set herself up to get smacked and got what she asked for

    Rachelle should have known she is not the only actress in this film and they cant accomodate just her. There are bigger stars in this project then her. If she was so dedicated to be Victoria she would have met with all the obligations needed. Anyways Bryce is a much better actress than Rachelle. She will be a much better Victoria.

    It’s really an unfortunate situation. If any of you want to see the first pic of the Volturi – http://www.crazycritics.com/page/new-moon-pics-the-volturi – there’s also a character guide. I liked Rachelle it’s really a shame.

    who cares about spoiled ungrateful actors. They are lucky to do what they do and get paid what they do.

    traveler Says:

    I get tired of hearing ungrateful actors complain. They should try working a real 40 to 60 hour a week/ 52 weeks a year job for way, way less than money. So, excuse me if I’m not crying any tears for Rachelle here. It’s not like they booted her and left her unemployed. This happened because she had to much work. I’ll save my compassion for the large number of Americans currently without jobs because of the recession.

    Ekaterina Says:

    @Lucas: Her movie is also filming in Canada, for only 10 days. And they’ve been more than happy to accomodate the other actors’ and their projects. Why not her?

    Let’s also not forget they considered replacing Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black. They hired him in the first place and then realized, whoops he might not be right? Face it Summit SUCKS.

  20. 20
    Ekaterina Says:

    @traveler: Actors generally work much longer hours than that. Filming a movie or a television show is long, arduous, and intense. Frankly I’d take my 9-6 over the hours actors have to work regularly.

    @me:

    Victoria get more air time in “Eclipse” so of course, Rachelle is pissed that she’s not gonna be in the movie.

    Rachelle is to blame for this. But hey, she’s gotta do what she needs to do.

    I like Bryce Dallas Howard….BUT this is just one of Summit’s attempt to make Eclipse more “credible” by casting “popular” actors.

  23. 23
    WhyNow? Says:

    @me:

    I know the directing was horrendous. Catherine Hardwicke ruined Twilight in so many ways, too many ways. As a fan of the books I was so disappointed, even embarrassed, by the movie. The acting was horrible.

    Reality Bites Says:

    I love how people are making Bryce sound like a child asking Daddy to secure her a shiny new present.

    She is a grown woman, married with a child. She grew up far away from Hollywood and didn’t even watch TV. Never even watched Happy Days until she was an adult and rented the DVD collection.

    She was basically discovered by M. Night Shyamalan when he saw her in a Broadway play and cast her without an audition for the Village.

    Summit and Eclipse needs her more than she needs them. On top of that she has to take grief for prepubescents and hormone washed teens. Classic!!!

  25. 25
    marie Says:

    She just should have told Summit from the very beginning, “hey, I’d like to do another movie, is that alright with you?”….I do not feel sorry for her at all.
