OlderBrad Pitt Stands By Gay Marriage
Brad Pitt takes the latest cover of Parade and talks about his decision to become a father, why he won’t marry Angelina Jolie, and his past pot-smoking habits. Here’s what 45-year-old Papa Pitt had to say:
On when he’ll marry Angelina Jolie: “I have love in my life, a soul mate–absolutely. When someone asked me why Angie and I don’t get married, I replied, ‘Maybe we’ll get married when it’s legal for everyone else.’ I stand by that, although I took a lot of flak for saying it–hate mail from religious groups. I believe everyone should have the same rights. They say gay marriage ruins families and hurts kids. Well, I’ve had the privilege of seeing my gay friends being parents and watching their kids grow up in a loving environment.”
On the right to love: “It’s ridiculous that Prop 8 took away gay people’s right to marry! I have no understanding of that kind of hatred. Maybe it’s fear of difference or of the unknown. If you feel belittled, maybe you need someone else to belittle to feel powerful. It’s the only way I know how to explain it. You’ve got religion telling you what to think about homosexuality, about marriage. They say homosexuality is a choice, a lifestyle, something you can be cured of, and that isn’t true. But if you’re tucked away and have no friends who are gay, you’ll believe what the preachers say. Just think of it in terms of being in love–how would you feel if someone told you that you couldn’t be with the person you loved?”
On wanting the best for his children: “Would it bother me if a child of mine turns out to be gay? No, not one bit. Listen, I want my kids to live the lives they want to live. I want them to be fulfilled. I hope I teach my kids to be who they really are.”
On the secret stone grotto behind the waterfall in his pool: “[It's] a great place for sex.”

i have been a brad fan for a long time and I am loving him more and more every day. great interview. he is a nice man and know what’s important in life. I am so happy he found angie as his partner.
Gay People shouldn’t poison and pollute the meaning of marriage. They already have civil unions, create your own meaning of union, but leave the title of marriage to men and women, they’ve had this since the beginning of time. Commit to yourselves if you want, but don’t call it marriage. This is a cop-out, you guys are trying to be like straight couples. Be yourselves and stop trying to fill and be something your not.

I guess the interviewer saw the pix before the airbrush hit em, eh? bwahahahha! Now that he’s talking about Angie as “a soul-mate” I bet she’s gonna dump him. that always happens when you talk about your love, just ask Jessica Simpleton.

Those of us that are religious should not send hate mail nor write hateful and hurtful things, we should help those who don’t understand to understand. We should pray for people and hlep them.
parade must be geard to the over 50 crowd. That headline is the sappiest and corniest I’ve ever seen. They couldn’t use a better quote?
Kudos to Brad for using this interview and his celebrity as a platform to speak on the issues he’s feels strongly about…as I do. Most celebs use interviews to talk about me, me, me and fluff topics. Brad obviuosly knows his fan base expect more of him.
Women, stay away from a man who says he won’t get married until “everyone” can. Yawn. I know guys are glad this gay marriage thing came along because now they have the perfect excuse. Of course, once gays get the right to marry, then what excuse will Brad use?
