Kris Allen – “Live Like We’re Dying” Lyrics

Sometimes we fall down and can’t get back up
We’re hiding behind skin that’s too tough
How come we don’t say I love you enough
Till it’s too late, it’s not too late

Our hearts are hungry for a food that won’t come
We could make a feast from these crumbs
And we’re all staring down the barrel of a gun
So if your life flashed before you, what would you wish you would’ve done

[Chorus]
Yeah, gotta start
Looking at the hand of the time we’ve been given here
This is all we got and we gotta start thinkin’ it
Every second counts on a clock that’s tickin’
Gotta live like we’re dying
We only got 86 400 seconds in a day
To turn it all around or throw it all away
We gotta tell ‘em that we love ‘em while we got the chance to say,
Gotta live like we’re dying

And if you plane fell out of the skies
Who would you call with your last goodbyes
Should be so careful who we live out of our lives
So when we long for absolution, there’ll be no one on the line

(Chorus)

Like we’re dying (x4)

(Chorus)

You never know a good thing until it’s gone
you never see a crash until its head on
All these people right when we’re dead wrong,
You never know a good thing till it’s gone

(Chorus)

Like we’re dying (x4)

(Chorus)

How much of one song needs to be a rip-off of another song before the person is sued? “Live like we’re dying” – that line by itself sounds, to me, just like Tim M’s country song.
I’m an Adam fan & don’t hate Kris. To me, Adam has charisma, & is forging new ground for gay men to be themselves.
Kris sings OK but his music is too bland for me.
They are BOTH handsome as heck, tho!

The weird thing is that the original song was just released this year. I think it’s odd to cover a song that has barely hit the airwaves. Plus, Kris’ version doesn’t sound any different than that of The Script’s.

I love The Script. I’m a big fan and I love their songs. It’s great that thanks to Kris, the band will get more exposure. They’re really great.

Sounds far too much like the original script version to be a good cover. He sounds exactly like them – so he shouldn’t get so much fame because of it. D:

I love love LOVE the Script (anyone who hasn’t heard them yet should definitely download their song “breakeven”) so i find it really annoying that kris allen is getting all the credit for this. honestly they sound really similar so again…it really annoys me how unoriginal this is since he basically took a song and didn’t make it ‘his own’.

Same exact message as Tim Mcgraws song…this guy can’t come up with his own concepts and messages? This song is annoying and even though the lyrics are compelling, you can’t hear them and the melody is, well…what melody. I just don’t get people and their tastes in music. If you want a nice song with a strong melody, go listen to Train.
