Angelina Jolie Replaces Charlize Theron as 'Tourist'

Angelina Jolie is in talks to replace Charlize Theron in the thriller The Tourist.

THR is reporting Charlize dropped out after being attached to the project for a long time. Producers are now looking to find a director to helm the movie.

The Tourist is about an Interpol agent (Jolie) in Europe who manipulates an American tourist (Sam Worthington) in an attempt to flush out an elusive criminal who was her former lover.

Aussie Sam, 33, has been much buzzed about since Terminator Salvation. He next stars in James Cameron’s Avatar, out in December.

Sam and Angie? Um, HOT!

    Dear Newsweek,
    ___

I have never been so repulsed by a Newsweek article as I was when I read Allison Samuels “Zahara Jolie-Pitt and the politics of uncombed hair”!! Are you SERIOUS?…
    ___

I don’t think news outlets should be in the business of writing about or critiqueing the merrits of a 4 year old’s hairstyle, much less berating the mother about her parenting skills or lack-there-of!!
    ___
What’s more, it’s quite hipocritical that these parenting standards seem only to apply to Mr. Pitt and Mrs. Jolie and their children, but not to Heidi Klum’s kids, Kimora Lee-Simmons kids, Will and Jada Smiths kids, or Thandie Newtons kids! All these other celebrity parents have allowed their childrens hair to be loose and free and in a natural afro style! Just because Zaharra’s hair has been styled like this moreso is no reason to single her or Angelina out as a parent with a child who has messy unkempt hair!
    ___
As any woman of African heritage knows, depending on your type of hair, you can sometimes wash, condition, and grease African hair, and it will STILL look as though you just rolled out of bed without attempting to style it! It is just the natural nature of our hair! Furthermore, the picture of Zahara being held by Angelina, which is used for the blog article, clearly shows that Zahara has adorable, shiny black curls to her hair, which indicates that it is WELL taken care of. To suggest anything else is cruel, ignorant, and racially insensitive! I would expect much more of a news outlet such as yours, but I guess journalism has lost the class and quality that it once had in the days of Edward R. Murrow! Newsweek has now deteriorated to notions held on the front of TABLOIDS! Congradulations.
    ___
That said, I believe you owe BOTH Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie AND Zahara an apology for writing this type of article, which reinforces ignorance with regard to the racial stereotype of ‘good’ hair versus ‘bad’ hair. To infer that Zahara’s hair is not being take care of just because her hair is being worn in it’s natural afro-styled state really sets the civil rights movement back 50 years, as it negates the perogative of CHOICE with regard to black womens hairdo’s. It also insults the African culture!
    __
I applaud Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt for a lot of things, but most of all for not conforming to the restrictive, negative, and ignorant views of society, but most of all, raising their children to have a sense of their own comfort and freedom. Newsweek could take a lesson from them, and so could the apparently self-hating Allison Samuels!

Oh Jen having a very bad day are you? The Baster re-shoots got you down after the poor test audiences reactions?

I know you can’t get cast in action or drama or any other type role but lame rom coms. The big male comedy stars run from you these days don’t they? Well you are too old for them, they cast younger women like VV just did in his hit film and like Ben Stiller does and like Jim Carrey does and Adam Sandler does.

Face it Jen you are over the hill for rom com leads with bigtime comedy males. Hey that’s life tv gurl.

Bruiser, snoozer, Jen, get a life. Your list reveals the depth of your obsession. Angie is out living her happy life, snuggling and cuddling with her loved ones, she does not have time for blogs.

I am sure Norman Aniston is crying out for your attention while you are here. Go give the love of your life a hug woman after you crawl into his doggy bed as you said that is where you like to sleep.

    Not impressed by JA Says:

If you want a better perspective about the magnitude and consistency of Charlize bombs, hence her selling power, here are the facts :
    .
    * 10 movies out of 29 with a domestic figures less than 10 M
    * 3 out of them amount to less than 1 M worlwide with an investment cost at 20 M+
    * 5 out of them amount at less than 5 M worldwide with an investment cost at 20 M+
    * Three movies amounted at 100 M + included Hancock
    * two movies amounted at 100 M+ domestically included Hancock
    * 4 out of her last 5 movies are mega bombs (less than 10 M worldwide, some even less than 1 M), exception : Hancock
    * Since her Oscar, she has made 8 movies : all of them : mega bombs (5 out of 7 less than 10 M worldwide) : EXCEPTION : Hancock
    .
That’s how consistent Charlie is in attracted people to the theater and i say this as one of her fan too. She has zero IT. Any prodicer who is also a businessman knows this. That’s why she is never among the best paid actresses, that’s why, she is never followed by paps or does few magazines cause her image doesn’t sell and has never will. Hence there is no progression curvbe whatsoever : it’s flat.
    .
She has no star power which is a shame. Period.

    Angelina Jolie, ‘Changeling’
Eastwood’s new leading lady shows grit
    By IAIN BLAIRMore Articles:
As a superstar actress, the tattooed Oscar winner (”Girl, Interrupted”) has always had fun tweaking conventional ideas about roles and identity — and people’s expectations of her.
That helps explain how the 33-year-old mother of six and staunch human rights advocate can seamlessly slip from playing the ultraviolent assassin of the summer hit “Wanted” into the heartbreaking role of “Changeling’s” Christine Collins, a single parent whose 9-year-old son vanishes into thin air in 1920s L.A.
Based on a true story, the Clint Eastwood-directed film also examines the nature of identity — the police insist that a runaway found in Illinois is her son, although he’s three inches shorter — and the role of the distraught mother proved to be a perfect fit for Jolie. Oscar-winning producer Brian Grazer approached Jolie “very early on, and once Clint was interested, I called her and that’s all I had to say,” he recalls. “She just said, ‘Let’s go.’ She was extremely enthusiastic. It wasn’t any gigantic producing skill on my part.
“It’s a tour de force for an actress, and many actresses wanted the part, because it’s appealing on so many levels,” he adds. “We spoke to Angie first, and she’s the one we wanted, because she has it all. She has credibility, intensity and evokes empathy, and that’s what you need in this character. She’s also very attractive and appealing, and that matters, because what’s going on in the film is so horrific.
“It’s such a tragedy and such a brutal role that in order for an audience to get through it, you not only have to have tremendous screen impact and presence, you have to have that sexual or female appeal, and Angie has all that.”
Once shooting began, Grazer was immediately “very impressed” by Jolie’s on-set demeanor.
“She’s enormously committed and dedicated, both as an actress and a mother,” he notes, “and so this project was right in the nexus of what is primordial to a woman — her relationship with her child. So the protection she’d naturally offer her kids in real life, coupled with her critical awareness of her own childhood and introspective observations of that, all contributed to her personal interest in the role. I marveled at her ability to connect with this character.”
Grazer also was amazed at Jolie’s ability to focus on the task at hand, “even while hundreds of paparazzi were often trying to take pictures,” he adds. “It never seemed to distract her, or from her complete connection to Clint and their relationship on set. I’ve never seen anything like it.”
    Coming attractions
Jolie is attached to “The Mercenary: Love and Honor” from writer-director Randall Wallace, about the life of Russian dictator Catherine the Great.

@The Bruiser: Which of those movies did Angelina Jolie STAR in? You people blame Angie for every so-called flop like “Sky Captain” or “The Good Shepherd” but you don’t giver her credit for hits like “Wanted” and “Kung Fu”. What’s up with that? Angie was in about 20 minutes of “Sky” which starred Gwynnie Paltrow and Jude Law and “Shepherd” starred Matt Damon. And “Changling” made money in anybody’s book but yours!! “Wanted” hit the $300M mark and so did “Kung Fu” but those don’t count on your list. Stop the hating, honey. It makes you look stupid!!

    gupta Says:

Reese Witherspoon ranked number one on The Hollywood Reporter’s annual list of the highest-paid actresses. The 31-year-old actress commands $15 million to $20 million a movie.
Angelina Jolie came in second, and Cameron Diaz came in third with a $15 million-per-movie requirement.
While Angelina and Reese are now asking for $15 million-$20 million per movie, they frequently agree to “no-quote deals” — deals in which the studios actually pay them far less than their usual fee (usually when they take on supporting roles).

Here’s The Hollywood Reporter’s top ten list:
    1. Reese Witherspoon — $15 million-$20 million
    2. Angelina Jolie — $15 million-$20 million
    3. Cameron Diaz — $15+ million
    4. Nicole Kidman — $10 million-$15 million
    5. Renee Zellweger — $10 million-$15 million
    6. Sandra Bullock — $10 million-$15 million
    7. Julia Roberts — $10 million-$15 million
    8. Drew Barrymore — $10 million-$12 million
    9. Jodie Foster — $10 million-$12 million
    10. Halle Berry — $10 million
Stars climbing up the pay scale include Katherine Heigl, Rachel McAdams and Jennifer Garner.

Note, Aniston’s name is NO where on the list

    …….

    Antonio Banderas character wanted Brad.
Kirsten Dunst character wanted Brad. (as a father)
    Thandie Newton’s character wanted Brad.
    …….

….and the movie reeeeeally showed how desirable Brad Pitt really is….as it was talking about the humanity that showed through even though he was a ‘VAMPIRE’. It’s just like Brads great heart showing through to us fans, though he is in the heart of FLESH-EATING HOLLYWOOD!!

Since when is anyone is a movie by themselves? Oh, wait. Swimming to Cambodia was one.
    .
All 3 of Jolie’s most recent moveis were sold on her back. Even the cartoon. He11 they forced her to show up to sell the DVD.
    .
The reseach on Wanted proved that a huge majority of those seeing it did so because Jolie was in it.
    .
In any event who cares what some age old movies did. What matters now is her ability to make money now. Since at least 2005 [ Mr and Mrs Smith which ended up making $870 million with all revenue streams ] her movies have done very well – if not at the BO then as critical successes. No one expects to make money off A Mighty Heart which is why it was produced by Paramount Vantage – the prestige indy division. I am sure in the end AMH made some profit. It had a very low budget as well as a low marketing budget.

Ben, we know you like her. Have seen you fawn over her in the E interview(s). You’re a nice guy. Aniston has made a career off her marriage and now divorce. She started getting roles in films after hooking up with Pitt (1998). Look at her roles prior to the hook up. One or two good movies where she has minor roles. Producers trying to lure Pitt would throw her a bone. Once the split she and her PR machine panicked. Her 15 minutes were almost up, so they came up with the wronged ex-wife line, seeing a definite market. They demonize jolie (although not to the effect planned I’m sure as she is now considered the most powerful celebrity) hoping to continue capitalizing on the “left” woman audience. She was called out on the continued association after the promo tours for the dog movie and not into you, so she couldn’t get away with it for mgmt and **** happens (and look at the results). Now that **** happens is opening abroad they plant then deny (knowing no one will believe the denial) the same “brad wants me back” scheme they tried in the states. Everyone points to the good girl (which IMO was a depressed rachel) to prove she can act. Wasn’t that like 10 yrs ago? She is stereotyped as a romcom/dramady actress for sure, but she’s producing these films herself, and is getting a little long in the tooth to be believable in her own genre. The baster (a/k/a that ***** stole my man, now look what I have to do), love happens (just not to me), the divorce club (no comment). She’s milking the sympathies of her fans. Should we buy tickets to her mediocre films because we feel sorry for her? A good performance in a good film would alleviate the necessity of the PR games (make believe boyfriends, strategically timed bikini shots) but don’t think she’s capable of either.
