Check out the new trailer for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Ben Kingsley, Gemma Arterton, and Alfred Molina.

The epic action-adventure is set in the mystical lands of Persia. A rogue prince (Gyllenhaal) reluctantly joins forces with a mysterious princess (Arterton) and together, they race against dark forces to safeguard an ancient dagger capable of releasing the Sands of Time—a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world. Directed by Mike Newell, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. Out May 28, 2010!

    Jake’s been bearding 2 1/2 years for this? Jake is showcasing his standard ernest expression or his annoyed expression-both of which he displays regurlarly on his staged coffee runs with Witherbeard. Was Jerry Bruckheimer trying to make a Pirates of the Carribean in the desert? Cause Jake is no Johnny Depp.

    OMG. I almost didn’t recognize him. He is SO hot! But this looks like all those Mummy/Scorpion King movies with the Lord of the Rings stuff thrown in except it’s a dagger.But Jake is definitely no Frodo! LOL!!! I’ll see it just to check out his hot body. His accent sounded cool, too. I just saw him in Day After Tomorrow and he sure looks different.

    Can’t believe Jake gave up being a serious actor and what seemed like being a nice guy to star in a stupid movie like this and be associated with Reese. Maybe when he gets all the sand out of his ears, he will come to his senses.

    Whatever….typical hollywood picking a white guy to play a character who ISN’T suppose to be white. He’s suppose to look persian…so they pick gyllenhaal for the role? dumb.

    Whatever voice he had to conjure up for this film saved him. His normal voice would have been too unmanly and made a full of this great video game character. I would have loved to see a hot, unknown and talented Persian/Iranian actor play this role, however. I wish the girl could have at least been Persian/Iranian. Oh well. It looks great and I will be going to see it. They did a fine job.

    Naturally..The prince of PERSIA should have a British accent. It was totally necessary for Jake to phase out his American accent to sound more Persian..oops..i mean – more British..

    Persians/Iranians are not “white” just because SOME of them have fair skin. The majority are brown in complexion, but range from dark to very fair, but no, they are not “white” like how you would consider a European to be “white”

    I think they could have picked another, more ethnic looking actor to play this role. Gyllenhaal still looks like a hick in persian clothes.

    Yes yes, Gyllenhaal is literally gay and all, but the bigger question is: WHY IS EVERYONE SPEAKING WITH AN ENGLISH ACCENT??? Are they speaking in that accent too in the games?

    I feel sorry for Jake he doesn’t really fit the bill to play this kind of role bless him but he might just surprise me and others.

    Yeah, this has been done on so many levels you can see from the trailer. It should be a movie that excites the audience but for some strange reason it just doesn’t excite me…….I’m not thinking I must see this more like maybe once on DVD rented?

    I have never found this guy sexy to me (tries to hard and fails) he just doesn’t have the X factor like the late great River Phoenix and Heath Ledger or the current Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, Will Smith, Sean Penn, Tom Cruise and the new Channing Tatum, Chris Pine etc (list could go on) but let’s see….

    I agree with comments re no Persian/Iranian actors to play the role – shame or a better actor? He has done some pretty good work in the past, so hope he proves me wrong but not excited at the moment with this trailer.

    Some really cool movies coming out in 2010 like Dear John, Iron Man 2, Alice in Wonderland, Clash of the Titans, The Wolfman etc not this until DVD.

    Hey, it might be hit though just because it came off a video game…You never know…….

    Um….No they are not. You think the president of Iran considers himself to be a White man? How about NO. They are not WHITE in the Causasian sense, but “white” as in SOME of them are very fair skin because of their turkish descendents. Get a clue and educate YOURSELF.

    Thus, Jake playing this role is DUMB.
