Carrie Underwood takes some pictures with fans as she arrives for the Late Show with David Letterman in New York City on Monday (November 2).
The 26-year-old American Idol recently sat down with In the Spotlight With Robin Roberts to discuss her rise to fame, her family, and her boyfriend, Ottawa Senators hockey player Mike Fisher. “We stay in, you know, we … we’re not like big party-goers so we don’t show up to events together and things like that,” she said.
As far as what’s next in her career, “It really just depends on what God has planned,” Carrie said. “I can try to make my own plans. I’ve been doing that my whole life and it’s never worked out, so I don’t know why I’d start now.”

That comment makes no sense. To say “I don’t know why I’d start now” would only make sense if she had never done it.

@marisleysis: What she is saying that I didn’t plan on becoming a singer. She had the opportunity to try out for Idol and won – it wasn’t her initial goal she was in college. However, she believes that God is directing her path. Carrie seems like a nice young lady.

If you can’t understand why her sentence makes no sense, then you need help. She says “I’ve been doing that my whole life… so I don’t know why I’d start now.” Clearly she has STARTED, she just got done saying she’s been doing it her whole life. It was nice of you to point out what she was trying to say, which I get, but that’s not what she said. If anything, she should have said “I’ve been doing that my whole life, and it’s never worked out, so I’m going to quit doing that.”
She is great. A great and nice person as well.
