How many times did you see the movie?

i thought this movie was so boring and overrated, and just jared made it sound so good, but then again just jared wastes time always promoting d list stars and d list movies etc.

The Ugly Truth is one of my all-time favorite comedies. I can’t wait to see the extras on the DVD. Somebody else must like it too, since the worldwide box office is closing in on $200 million.

She was still great in Knocked Up. I wonder why she didn’t like the movie. Maybe she wanted to be the star of it and thought Seth was ugly. The character is very similar to this character, except Gerry is better looking. I think that is the only reason. how superficial of her.

Um, it wasnt even good and Butler looked like he lived on Lucky Charms and sticks of butter the entire year he taped.

I watched this movie for the first time today and…I didn’t like it. I turned it off half way through and then made myself finish it later. Gerard looked terrible, as in too much Botox or something, and if Ger is like Mike Chadway in real life then gag me with a machete. I actually appreciated Heigl’s character because at least she had class and some shred of decency. Needless to say, I will NOT be buying this on DVD.

Agreed. There was no discernible chemistry between Butler and Heigl and the whole movie was just vulgar. I loved The Wedding Crashers, Tropic Thunder, The Stepbrothers and Talladega Nights:The Ballad of Ricky Bobby BTW…I do like Gerard Butler just NOT in this particular movie.

I was diappointed with TUT. I went into the cinema expecting it to be dirty and raunchy.
It could have been dirtier and raunchier – It really didn’t need an R18+ rating.

What’s wrong with his mouth? Why does he sound spasticated? It’s like watching a bad comedy version of My Left Foot.

TUT is cute – it is a fun date flick. And the restaurant scene is really funny. I think a pair of those undies would be great for my next boring business meeting.

When I saw this in the theatre, I thought it might be entertaining or possibly awful. I took a chance, and liked it very much. It is raunchy and crude, but it made me laugh out loud. I even laughed at the other people laughing in the audience. That’s half the fun of seeing a comedy – listening to the other folks reacting. I thought Butler did a great job as a foul-mouthed doofus with a heart – not such a stretch for him, maybe? LOL

@cubedweller, ITAWY. Both my hubby and our friends all laughed all the way through it. Not the best comedy I have ever seen in my life, but we enjoyed it and had great fun talking about it afterwards at dinner.

It’s not the best comedy and it’s certainly not the worst. It has its own entertaining value, maybe more to some people and less to others. Different people have different taste. It’s not out of the line to say that you should go see it for yourself and decide for yourself bc that’s really the only way to find out the truth.

On the other hand, if you choose to be led around blindfold, that’s your choice.

Game’s gag reel is the entire bloody movie.

I think the only parts that are actually in the movie are when Abby says “manwh**ore” and Abby does the happy dance. The rest are their impromps. Congrats to those who can judge the movie based on these two snippets.

Is there any sex in it? If there is no free willy, there’s no point even renting it.

There’s nothing steamy in it. There’s nothing sexy in it either. It’s a very low-brow goofball comedy that is heavy on the adolescent humor and heavy on trying to hit you in the head with charm. It tries too hard to make up for a lame, predictable script but doesn’t overcome it.

It’s not a good film. I’d give it one out of five stars. The critics were not wrong about this film, Gamer, or LAC. They’re terrible films. If you’re watching your budget, wait for some of the better Oscar contender-quality films that will be coming out.

TUT and LAC got advertised like mad, which is why they made money. Manipulation of public perception is an art form that pays well for entertainers. Advertising does not a good film make.

And for the record, I did not care for LAC, but the 4 other people who came with me to see it really liked it, and so did most of the sold out audience. I just couldn’t buy the story, and Clyde lost my sympathy early on in the plot. The movie did not live up to my expectations, but word of mouth has made it a hit.

TUT was presposterous. The character of Mike Chadway was shallow, arrogant and had a gross sense of entitlement when it came to women. In what parallel universe does the heroine dump the gorgeous, successful doctor who liked her enough to send her flowers, for the likes of Mike Chadway, who would use her for only a minute and call it “love”(laughable). The movie tried to make Chadway’s character sympathetic(oh he’s cool to his sister’s kid and oh he had his heart broken blahblahblah…)none of this changed the fact that the guy was quite simply a shallow, neanderthal douchebag that was incapable of anything meaningful. Even the ending suggests that sex is love. This movie should be offensive to anyone with half a brain.

Now you want a funny movie, rent “I Love You, Man”.

No connection with Mia. Sorry. But I do suppose she and I would agree on some stuff. I did see Wicked last year. A really great stage show in London. TUT, stuff it. The Ugly Truth was a really funny movie. I suppose you are in the group that liked The Proposal. The damndest dumb movie I have ever seen. HIdeous.

Well, there’s nothing quite like admitting publicly that you are in fact, a douchebag. The character of Mike Chadway is a douchebag and if you are like that in real life then you too are a douchenozzle of epic proportions. It’s definitely not something to be proud of.

I know quite a few producers here where I work and they don’t keep themselves “in check”.

I love seeing the behind the scenes stuff! You can really see that Gerry and Katherine had a great time shooting this film. My husband and I saw TUT in a sold out theater, and everyone laughed out loud and had a great time. I liked seeing this side of Gerry’s side acting abilities. He can go from angst ridden romantic lead, to warrior, to hilarious screw ball comedy…and good for him that he’s not allowing himself to be limited to one type of role. He’s learning and growing in his craft. I look forward to what comes next for him! BTW, the Oslo interview is very revealing. 16 minutes of Gerry discussing the press and celebrity gossip and how he deals with the downside of fame.

Agreed. I have yet to see Gerry have any chemistry with any of the actresses he is cast opposite of in the romcoms. Perhaps his next leading lady should be “exotic” and then maybe we would actually see some “heat” generated. Personally, I think if Gerry does another romcom it will be way too soon; I’d much rather see him in action films. While I’m not a fan of baseball, at least “Slide” will be more age appropriate for him, even if it does sound like “Slide” will be to Gerry what “The Pacifier” was to Vin Diesel.

I have to admit that I am quite proud to say that I have yet to see TUT and will most likely borrow it from my sis when she rents it ;-)

@CeCe is objective & refreshing: the one thing that GB isn’t playing the same role in Coriolanus this time round.

Last time he did it, it was like his first (or almost) professional stage appearance and he was in the back row of a really wierd show. It was part mime, part dance, Kabuki and posing about, like all of Stephen Berkoff’s stage stuff. It was an amazing show however. He was sort of ‘in the chorus’ – small role. He did not play Tullus. A boyfriend of mine was in the Tokyo leg of the same show (which GB was not in) and it was pretty strange gig. So, he hasn’t played the role before – he just knows and has performed a version of the play, but its a pretty random and crazy version of the thing that he did. So, I reserve judgement.

As for the all the crticis of the films, okay. We went with the same group of friends that we saw The Hangover with to TUT and we all had a ball. I never expected it to be well acted or have any kind of a meaningful plot. We went to laugh and we did.

I did see a little more effort from Gerry in that movie and was pleased with his performance and I thought that Gerry and Jamie played well off each other in their scenes. I think they broke up around about the time 300 premiered; they were together for quite a while. A lot of people didn’t think they looked “together” on the red carpet by their body image. Maybe he felt uncomfortable because this was the first time he had been seen on the red carpet with a woman.

I thought TUT was decent. It was better than most of Vince Vaughn movies out recently. All his movies seem to have the only funny parts in the trailers. By the way the Gag reel above is only the CLEAN bits of the gag real on the DVD. So I don’t know how anyone would judge a movie on the cleaned up version of the gag reel, makes no sense to me.

I thought TUT was enjoyable. I didn’t take it seriously. I thought LAC was ok. I didn’t take it seriously. I did think Gerry was great in LAC. I go to movies to be entertained. Sometimes I get lucky and see an outstanding movie with outstanding performances but those are few and far between. What I do think is serious is Gerry’s bankroll because of these two movies. And good for him. He’s a nice guy and deserves it.

As far as his relationship with Bianca, I hope they were happy when they were together. There is nothing like a love affair to keep your heart beating faster.

about Gerry, I write a very good one. I rebuke certain statements, etc.
I sometimes sound as tho I know him Personally, but I don’t care because

I saw TUT when it came out – won free tickets, but didn’t like it. I think I saw too much about it being made. I actually broke down and bought the DVD; figured I’ll give it a second chance. If the gag reel and extras are good then I haven’t wasted my money.

I’m not that up on Bianca but I think Gerry took her to the Golden Globes the first time she was seen with him; fans were petty cruel. He dated her while he was filming Shattered and, as I said, they broke up around the time 300 premiered. It was said she actually attended the premiere; I think some fangirls actually saw her there. But she’s history, I don’t know why people keep brining her up.

As for Framolamdoo-doo – I thought she was a moderator over at GALS. Isn’t she from Scotland? She must have an awful lot of money and nothing to do with her time because she is always flying to the U.S. to see Gerry. Stalker! I think you are right about Framolamdoo-doo. I believe that the phangirls were expecting him at the Dressed to Kilt event and he didn’t show. I do lurk at Twitter once in a blue moon and the last time I did a search on Gerry was when the Jessica Simpson rumor just started. Framolamdoo-doo sent a direct message to Jessica asking if she was dating Gerry and would Jessica tell him that Framo loved him or something silly like that. There was also another post to some actress, I wish I could remember who, asking her if she would request Gerry as her costar next time she made a movie. I couldn’t believe it!

STINKY AND TRYING – I was visiting my sister a couple of days ago and we watched Australia with Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman, now that is a bad movie. I couldn’t watch Kidman with her blown up lips and face that never moved, it was awful. The overinflated thing reminded me of some of the pics from The Bounty set with Nippy and Megan Fox in Transformers 2. Why do they do that? Their trade is to express and they freeze their faces and look like they are all swollen from a fight with a prize fighter. I just don’t get it.

Someone told me that she is always harassing the solicitors there with heavy breathing calls, and love letters (using cut out letters of the alphabet from newspaper headlines). Apparently, this time they are threatening legal action because she was caught humping the plate glass window last month. The receptionist who found her has post traumatic stress disorder now and is on sick leave for six months. Thats some crazy ****!

Good interview from Norway. Nice to see Butler interviewed by someone who had her tits put away, for a change. He was indeed thoughtful and candid, and quite willing to discuss whatever was thrown at him. I have a hard time feeling too sorry for him regarding the paps and tabloids, since I think it is fairly obvious that he courts their attention. There is no way these photographers are always just hanging out wherever he happens to be. And as far as his girlfriend getting flamed by the phangurls, he could be a bit more proactive on his part. If he’d man up and take the attitude “this is who I’m dating, who I care about, so deal with it”, I think it would go a long way toward stifling that nonsense. Who needs fans like that anyway? If you lose someone you love because of the lunacy of a bunch of strangers, that’s a damn shame. I’ll also say yet again that when it comes to tabloid bs his PR group is asleep at the wheel.

How many of those Rebecca Minkoff hand bags have Nick(Fryguy) brought on his shopping sprees in the UK? I bet G’s probably got him on a budget. I don’t Twitter and don’t intend to; I see enough said about Framolamodoo-doo to think she’s a few cards short of a deck.
I finally watched the Oslo interview, very insightful. You know, if Gerry had started in the business ten year’s earlier he may have gotten out of the celebrity phase by now and become a really good actor , with a wife and a couple of kids in tow. He always talks about getting married and having kids, but I think by the time he does he’ll be grandfather to his own rug rats.

Dammit Diva – Framo deserves what she gets.

This is what a good, respectful journalist does. They can pull their subject from their shell and get them to reveal things they’ve never shared before, and they do it without browbeating. They just have to ask the right questions. A good journalist isn’t out to exploit or humiliate their subject but still just wants to get at the truth. Whoever this young lady was, she did an excellent job in this interview and because of her, Gerry came off looking better than he has in many interviews.

LOVED IT!!! unlike you losers with no sense of humor … i rather enjoyed this movie VERY much …. in fact it is one of my favorites. i mean half of you guys are more perverse than 3 x this movie ever could have been.
