I love seeing the behind the scenes stuff! You can really see that Gerry and Katherine had a great time shooting this film. My husband and I saw TUT in a sold out theater, and everyone laughed out loud and had a great time. I liked seeing this side of Gerry’s side acting abilities. He can go from angst ridden romantic lead, to warrior, to hilarious screw ball comedy…and good for him that he’s not allowing himself to be limited to one type of role. He’s learning and growing in his craft. I look forward to what comes next for him! BTW, the Oslo interview is very revealing. 16 minutes of Gerry discussing the press and celebrity gossip and how he deals with the downside of fame.

Swannie

I think the only parts that are actually in the movie are when Abby says “manwh**ore” and Abby does the happy dance. The rest are their impromps. Congrats to those who can judge the movie based on these two snippets.

I see his fangurl publicity team has arrived on JJ to promote his DVD.

They’re like a mini-army deployed to defend his name and help him make money.

I doubt they’re doing it for free. No one is foolish enough to work so hard to help someone else make money if they’re not getting a paycheck or kickback.

Oh sure! Yeah… he sends me a check on a monthly basis for my services!

Who me? A member of Gerry’s paid army? Nuh. I am online looking at houses to buy in San Diego, specifically North County coast area, like Solana Beach, Cardiff-by-the-Sea, Encinitas and Carlsbad. Does anyone have any insight about current SD real estate market? Just curious.

Is there any sex in it? If there is no free willy, there’s no point even renting it.

mia, almost a star @ 11/12/2009 at 12:08 am

What a bunch of cr#p. I only wish I was getting paid for my posts. LOL. Hey, Gerry, you cheap hot Scott, can you lend me a dime (more like $5) for a cup of Starbucks coffee?

There’s nothing steamy in it. There’s nothing sexy in it either. It’s a very low-brow goofball comedy that is heavy on the adolescent humor and heavy on trying to hit you in the head with charm. It tries too hard to make up for a lame, predictable script but doesn’t overcome it.

It’s not a good film. I’d give it one out of five stars. The critics were not wrong about this film, Gamer, or LAC. They’re terrible films. If you’re watching your budget, wait for some of the better Oscar contender-quality films that will be coming out.

TUT and LAC got advertised like mad, which is why they made money. Manipulation of public perception is an art form that pays well for entertainers. Advertising does not a good film make.

TUT and LAC made money because people enjoyed them. Most people don’t pay attention to critics or reviews. They go by what their friends say and make up their own minds about what is good entertainment.

And for the record, I did not care for LAC, but the 4 other people who came with me to see it really liked it, and so did most of the sold out audience. I just couldn’t buy the story, and Clyde lost my sympathy early on in the plot. The movie did not live up to my expectations, but word of mouth has made it a hit.

TUT was really awful @ 11/12/2009 at 12:46 am

TUT was presposterous. The character of Mike Chadway was shallow, arrogant and had a gross sense of entitlement when it came to women. In what parallel universe does the heroine dump the gorgeous, successful doctor who liked her enough to send her flowers, for the likes of Mike Chadway, who would use her for only a minute and call it “love”(laughable). The movie tried to make Chadway’s character sympathetic(oh he’s cool to his sister’s kid and oh he had his heart broken blahblahblah…)none of this changed the fact that the guy was quite simply a shallow, neanderthal douchebag that was incapable of anything meaningful. Even the ending suggests that sex is love. This movie should be offensive to anyone with half a brain.

Now you want a funny movie, rent “I Love You, Man”.

Cece said: “It’s a very low-brow goofball comedy that is heavy on the adolescent humor and heavy on trying to hit you in the head with charm.”

It wasn’t charming though. The “humor” was so low brow and it mostly insults one’s intelligence. Can you imagine a real conversation with the imbecilic Mike Chadway? No of course not, the guy couldn’t hold a real conversation because he just isn’t that bright. With a guy like that you would be bored in 5 minutes as there was just nothing really all that interesting about him and yet we are expected to believe Heigl’s character would just throw over something promising, with an educated doctor, for a guy, that if he wasn’t slinging his blustery cocksuredness around, wouldn’t have anything remotely intelligent to say. Patently absurd.

No connection with Mia. Sorry. But I do suppose she and I would agree on some stuff. I did see Wicked last year. A really great stage show in London. TUT, stuff it. The Ugly Truth was a really funny movie. I suppose you are in the group that liked The Proposal. The damndest dumb movie I have ever seen. HIdeous.

LAC's flawed script @ 11/12/2009 at 1:14 am

I just couldn’t buy the story, and Clyde lost my sympathy early on in the plot. The movie did not live up to my expectations, but word of mouth has made it a hit.”

LAC’s flaws were primarily with the script. It started out being written by Frank Darabont who wanted to take it one direction and then they changed horses in midstream and took the script in a different direction and one can sense this change in pace and direction when watching the movie. Many critics charged that the movie didn’t seem to know what it wanted to be and many believe this is courtesy of changing script writers. As for losing any sympathy for Clyde, the whole point was that the need for vengeance ate away at Clyde until Clyde was just no longer Clyde anymore. Clyde was replaced by an enemy of the state.

That dance scene did it for you? It lasted a whole minute and it wasn’t hot, just an average couple attracted to each other dancing. I guess just the sight of Gerry does it for some here.

For those who are objective and not gushers who will pay for anything with Gerry in it, LAC, Gamer, TUT, Nim’s, and most of Gerry’s other films are not worth the money. If you’re curious, wait for them to go to Netflix or cable, but save your money. PSILU was passable, but not that good and his Irish accent was, as he confessed, not good at all.

If you want to see a good film with Gerry in it, then pick up Dear Frankie. That film is excellent and he was very good in it. He hasn’t done anything that good since. Coriolanus might be a different story. The Bounty will probably be another stupid romcom, but the gushers and employees will be here saying he should get an Oscar for it.

I’m giving an honest opinion based on the quality of the film. His performance in TUT was fine for the role he had, but he’s playing himself (another point he made before the film was released). Heigl was even more annoying than her character required. As producer she should have kept herself in check. The dialogue was horrendous and plays on every stupid stereotype we’ve all heard a million times. The quality of the production is as low brow as the quality of the script. The hot air balloon scene special effects look like they were done by Hanna Barbera they were so bad. Heigl and Gerry could have given the performances of their lives and it wouldn’t have made the film good.

LAC’s plot was so preposterous and had so many holes in it, that it required more suspension of disbelief than believing Michael Lohan is just concerned for his daughter.

#65 I think you’re right on LAC. Changing writers so many times probably contributed to the story being so badly written.

Gerard’s best performances can be seen in “Attila”, “The Phantom of the Opera” and “300″. It was kind of hard for him to screw up “Dear Frankie” because his part was not very big and he had so few lines. I have to admit Gerry was the best thing about the horrid “Dracula 2000″ movie. PSILU turned into the Hilary Swank show, and I agree, as someone who makes it a point to study the Irish accent, Gerry’s irish accent was horrid. I have no worries about Ger’s ability to pull off “Coriolanus” because a quality script can help keep an actor/actress from making a complete fool of themselves and he’s done the part before.

Cece is rational... @ 11/12/2009 at 3:05 am

Cece: “His performance in TUT was fine for the role he had, but he’s playing himself (another point he made before the film was released). ”

Well, there’s nothing quite like admitting publicly that you are in fact, a douchebag. The character of Mike Chadway is a douchebag and if you are like that in real life then you too are a douchenozzle of epic proportions. It’s definitely not something to be proud of.

Cece says: “Heigl was even more annoying than her character required. As producer she should have kept herself in check.”

I know quite a few producers here where I work and they don’t keep themselves “in check”.

If critical reviews don’t count, why are they mentioned in all the ads and in the commercials for films? Why would people show up on opening day for a film if they weren’t responding to the advertising?

TUT was advertised as raunchy, so lonelyhearts lined up waving their greenbacks. LAC interviews were heavy on the mention of his n(ude) scene, which was hinted as being full frontal. It’s a sad day in America when people are desperate to watch other people fake f (uck). At least watch some real p (orn) if you’re that hard up. You know Gerry’s playing those p (orn) classics when he’s having threesomes in his hotel room.

Alright. Alright. Don’t pop your support hose. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he learned about Dirty Sanchezes in Catholic school.

Since Hanna-Barbera was mentioned, I’ll throw this in. Fred Flintstone and Ann Margarock generated more heat onscreen than Gerry and Katie in TUT – but only slightly less than Gerry and Jamie in LAC.

Poor Gerry. What will he have left when he can’t drop kit anymore?

Supermodel @ 11/12/2009 at 3:18 am

@oy:

I agree with Oy. TUT sucked big Khloe Kardasshian balls.
The dance scene that everyone had a hissy fit over was AWFUL. Gerry cannot dance. Even though he always seem to want to.

Can someone show me ANYONE that can have chemistry with Kat Heigl? She is not sexy.

This movie is CRAP. PSILY was a better rom for him.
The Bounty Hunter is going to be his undoing and Cornholio is for limited release isnt it?

Oy:consummate penishead @ 11/12/2009 at 3:33 am

Oy should consider sticking to, sticking it to Gerard Butler, and leave his fans out of it. It’s not necessary to be so cruel by posting fan pics and the like. We get it, you hate fat people and think they are not worthy of respect or should be treated with basic human dignity.

The Oslo interview @ 11/12/2009 at 3:39 am

Thankfully, Mr. Giggles posted the link for the Oslo interview which helps show Gerard in a much better light. If only all his interviews were so geared towards bringing out a multidimensional personality. If one just went off of what was offered up in “The Ugly Truth” one would be inclined to hit this guy super hard in his kidneys.
