Tyra Banks & Princess Tiana: Disney Darlings

Tyra Banks makes one of her signature silly faces while posing Disney’s newest princess, Tiana, at Walt Disney World in the Magic Kingdom on Friday (November 20) in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

Also pictured dressed as Princess Tiana — (L-R): Kimani Smith, age 6, from Fredericksburg, Va.; McKenna Pope, age 10, from Lodi, N.J.; and Shadeh Belgrave, age 8, from Jamaica, N.Y. Earlier this week on her talk show, Tyra surprised the three girls and their mothers with a vacation to Walt Disney World where they attended a tea party in their honor with Princess Tiana from The Princess and the Frog. The young girls’ first-time visit to Walt Disney World with their mothers and Banks will be featured Wednesday, Nov. 25 on The Tyra Show @ 4PM on The CW.

Awww…beautiful little girls. I’m excited for this movie.

they look like they are having the time of their lives! They look so adorable in their little outfits. I hope they get to keep them:)

Tyra’s forehead is massive

Fivehead FTW!

I can’t wait to see this film!!!

The kids look so cute and happy. I think it’s great that they have a black princess. But why on earth use a European fairy tale for it? That’s incredibly insensitive to our European heritage. Besides, I’m sure that they could have easily found several dozen African stories which are much better (The Princess and the Frog is an uneventful and dull story in my opinion)

next oprah……….slimmmmmmm oprah

next Oprah!!! Slim Oprah!!!!!!!!!!!

I still don’t know why they changed the princess’s name from Maddy to Tiana, which sounds ghetto-ish.

@yeah: the title of the story is deceiving. I have seen the trailers and the tale takes place in New Orleans in an alternate time, but, it has strong African themes and characters. There’s a twist on the tale.

i cant wait to see this movie!!! =D

Who’s the woman with the large fore-head?

An African-American princess for Disney was long overdue. Plus Disney hasn’t done a real cartoon movie (not that Pixar cr ap) since Lilo and Stitch so I’m really looking forward to seeing this one…

CAN'T STAND THE BITCH @ 11/21/2009 at 11:16 pm

TYRA’S FOREHEAD LOOKS LIKE A FREAKING BILLBOARD.

How cute! Tyra is amazing and set to break money0making records. Love this woman!
Modesto – go kill yourself, trust me, no one will miss you.

She is going to take over Oprah’s crown!

@Carie:

Tiana is a beautiful name with English origins. There are people of all races with the name Tiana. What so ghetto about the name or is more about the person who possesses it?

your spaceship is waiting for you, ET needs his mother

@yeah:

There’s nothing European about Disney Princess and the Frog. “The Frog Prince” story merely serves as a little story device in the movie and nothing else. Don’t jump to your own conclusion when you haven’t even seen the film yet.

In my opinion, it is not necessarily more appropriate to call on an “African” story to try to relate to African American children. American is supposed to be a melting pot so i don’t think it’s ok for anyone to stake claims on a particular culture’s stories. That’s insensitive.

Love both these African American Princesses! Okay, Tyra’s not a princess, but I still love her! She was Paris Hilton last year for Halloween. Hopefully this year or 2010 she’ll be Princess Tiana! You go Girls!
