Good Morning America Cuts Adam Lambert From Concert Series

Good Morning America Cuts Adam Lambert From Concert Series

Adam Lambert‘s performance on tomorrow’s Good Morning America has been canceled.

An ABC News spokesperson reveals, “Given his controversial American Music Awards performance, we were concerned about airing a similar concert so early in the morning.”

In response to the situation, Adam told Ryan Seacrest, “Obviously I respect their decision, they gotta do what they gotta do. It’s too bad, I think there were a lot of fans who were excited to come see me.”

He added, “They probably had a lot of pressure coming at them from certain people who weren’t happy about it. I respect their decision – I don’t necessarily agree with it, but they need to do what they need to do.”

WHAT DO YOU THINK of GMA nixing Adam’s performance???

Good, Gays are getting so tacky, don’t want to see that, our want children to see that!!

  • dodo

i love my gay friends but i think this response is a reminder that they are in the small minority and they aren’t as powerful as they think they are. blogs have caused my girls to lose their clout and perspective. adam can’t expect the votes of america on idol & then say eff you the first chance he gets… he’ll learn the hard way.

  • Miranda

it probably wouldn’t be a bad idea for Adam to tone it down just a bit. He’d be a lot more accessible to a lot more people that loved him from American Idol. But I do think it’s kind of ridiculous that they didn’t expect he knows his boundaries and his audience and he probably wouldn’t be so overtly sexual on a morning show. I mean he’s not stupid. I agree with the double standard thing though how someone like Rihanna can perform in a sexy outfit and act sexual on stage but most likely because Adam is gay they find that unnacceptable or risky? LAME.

  • shelby

No double standard. Nobody should get away with crap like that. Know your audience Adam. Most of us didn’t appreciate your vulgarity.

  • Diva

His performance was beyond innuendo and it has nothing to do with being hetero vs homo, the performance (1) sucked, (2) was crude and (3) was attention seeking to the point of desperation.
He has pushed the gay and lesbian movement back 10 steps when he could have been himself (which this image creation certainly is not) and been smarter with his career (a la Lady Ga Ga for example) and made a more savvy and creative move that would have set him on the path for long-term success…but I guess we’ll see…

  • Lola

And what about kids who are home schooled then? to all you people saying people have done this before…what about all the flack that janet got because her nipple showed at the superbowl. Oh right, that was because she was black right?

You people have no argument and I’m going to stop wasting my time with such stupid reasoning.

  • http://www.cougarsdatingsite.com/ Melanie

I guess he wants to go back to stage work!

  • Cindy X.

that performance was entertaining…i don’t know if it was appropriate for the American music awards…his sexual innuendos were too shocking for the national public…his performance had a soft porn musical feeling…his scream singing got a little annoying throughout his performance…all in all…he got his 15 minutes….his music will not be hitting the radio waves…he belongs on broadway.

  • marion

HE SAID THE KISS AND OTHER STUFF WAS IMPROVISED, YEAH, I BELIEVE HE DECIDED TO DO THE KISS SO PEOPLE WOULD TALK ABOUT IT THE NEXT DAY INSTEAD OF THE TUMBLE AND THE C*RAPPY VOCALS….CLEVER!

  • http://seriouslytoo.com happy girl

What hypocrisy, women like Lady Gaga can perform with blood dripping on them, Madonna can perform simulated sex but when a Gay man does it, it’s wrong. America is so Puritan. Oh, well. At least Adam is not hiding in a closet like half the gay men in Hollywood. Tom Cruise anyone? Adam is bold to just be who he is, whatever you think of the performance. Who watches Good Morning America anyway? Oh, grandmas. I forgot.

  • Anon

The people making these decisions are probably a bunch of guys who don’t mind looking at Rihanna’s coochie, but are disturbed by Adam. The USA is really backwards. I’m embarrassed sometimes with how out of it we are, and the rest of the world is way ahead of us.

I also think that yes, everyone is talking about Adam, but it isn’t cool when you get censored. Fortunately he is remaining calm and not blowing up about it. I also think since he knows how people are, he needs to just use better judgement when he appears on American TV. He should treat all of it as if it was still that cheesey American Idol. LOL!

  • http://seriouslytoo.com happy girl

ALSO, Madonna performed many erotic performances on MTV, Hello? How quickly we forget her Vogue performance where the dancer goes under her dress.! Hello! Double standard. Gay men still have it bad. Sad.

  • No to both het and homo tv sex

If het sex on tv requires me to be ok with homo sex, then take it all away. I’d rather it stay in the bedroom altogether where it belongs. People think that we need to be ok with incessantly pushing the boundaries or we risk being ‘prude’. Well when is pushing the boundaries going to far? I’d rather be a prude.

  • Andrea

Its not homophobic because if two straight ppl were simulating oral sex that would be just as unacceptable. His performance was disgusting and he probably scarred and tainted a bunch of little kids minds. I think it should have been censored in the first place. Oh and his vocals sucked. Its good that GMA canceled on him but all this crap could have been avoided in the first place had he not been such a narcissistic, egotistic, pervert in the first place.

  • Nobody

The double standard crap is CRAP. Adam STFU they tore Janet apart because of an accident. There is a TIME and a PLACE….save your crappy show for MTV idiot not network TV. Why would ABC want another fine from the FCC?

  • rpatzfan

we dont need to watch a lame soft P-O-R-N performance and with an ugly guy! Thank You ABC

  • http://seriouslytoo.com happy girl

OH pluuuuease! Ever watch Gossip Girl and all those shows where ppl are engaging in all kinds of seedy behavior? And violence is ok but not a kiss? And forget reality TV where you have 12 girls sleeping with one guy (Rock of Love). Come on. This is because Adam is gay . That’s it. Yuo may not like his performance but he has the right to do what all the other stars have done for shock value. Go Adam! We love you!

  • cindi

I have an idea!! Next AMA’s put your children to bed or TIVO the
show and decide which preformance to show your children.
This year my children will not watch any of the preformance. I like Adam Lambert and I watch his preformance and it was pretty
wild but not as bad as some of the preformances in the past!
If you worry about your children watching things you do not
consider appropriate then monitor them. If we are going to
be so righteous about performances at the AMA then make
it across the board. Starting with the ladys too!! By the way
    Adams album is great!!

P.S. I also would not let my children watch a new program like
    GMA.

  • John Adams

As a gay man, I’m not enthusiastic about Adam Lambert’s first major public performance at the AMAs. As many have noted in several different discussion forums, his singing was *not* his best, and that’s what should have come across before any of the other antics that occurred. I have my suspicions that he faltered in the ‘talent’ department because he himself was nervous about what he knew he was going to do in the ‘showmanship’ category. (But that’s just my conjecture.)

I think it’s wrong to yell, “homophobia” regarding any consequences resulting from his AMA performance. He was in control of what he did at the AMAs and is responsible.

There is a difference between homosexuality and hedonism, and I am really getting ticked off by homosexuals who confuse the two and then cry, “homophobia!” when there’s a backlash. Believe it or not, homosexuals actually *do* have morals. Some of us are even Christians with a set of sexual mores just like everybody else. (Who knew, eh?)

To my mind, Adam Lambert didn’t “push the envelope” so much as he pushed some buttons – including some of mine. I’m pretty angry with him for crossing the line with the implied oral sex. He was completely selfish and thoughtless (regarding generating ‘buzz’ for his singular career) by doing so, and it’s my opinion that exemplified and fostered a stereotype that all homosexuals are hedonists.

He could have gotten away with being considered “edgy” and actually doing some good by performing the kiss and the dancer-on-a-leash antics, and then citing the “if the gender/sexual identity roles were changed…” argument. But he didn’t. He had to take it to that *final* step and simulate public, oral sex to carry it across the line into vulgarity.

Thanks, Adam. Thanks a whole bunch for showing the world that gays can be just as crude and vulgar (and even more so!) than anyone else in show business. Thanks for nothing.

  • http://www.bbwsinglesusa.com/ Melanie

He likes to play to stereotypes.

  • shelby

To John Adams #69, I totally agree with you. It was the simulated oral sex that crossed the line. Everything else would’ve been glossed over… but not that one. Horrible decision on his part and even a bigger mistake to act so flippant about it.

  • joy

SO GLAD THEY CANCELLED his morning performance. His AMA performance was rude, crude and vulgar. If he expects to appear on TV in the future he needs to realize he has to do it respectfully. When he’s on his own time he can do what he wants but NOBODY wants to see that on a show that’s supposed to honor MUSIC. It wasn’t right when B. & M. did it and it’s not right for him to do it. The AMA’s should tell their performers ahead of time what will be NOT allowed. I thought it really cheapened the show even more than some of it had already been cheapened by some of the outfits. They are there to SING not put on an R or X rated performance. Hope this hits him where it hurts—in the bank account.

  • J

ABC has ALL performers do a sound check and rehearsal so the network must have seen what he was going to do before the show aired. So it is not all of Adam’s fault.

  • Kelly

@Liz: Ha! He has already made it perfectly clear that he doesn’t give a crap who doesn’t like what he does. Even if that means horrified parents who have to cover their kids’ eyes. I don’t think anyone thought this performance through before letting it air.
@ommmz: I was never offended by anything the people you mentioned did in a performance. So what, they had sexy outfits and danced provacatively. That is nothing compared to what Adam did. I was offended by the performance. It took inappropriate to an entirely different level. It was disgusting and if I had been a fan to begin with I would have been embarassed. I think he should give more thought to his fans. Maybe they weren’t as disgusted by it as I was, but it definitely made them look bad to those who were.@ivelise: Did you see the rest of the performance. It wasn’t making out with a guy that made the performance classless. How about when he shoved a dancer face into his crotch and thrusted, or when he grabbed the female dancers crotch. Making out with a guy was the least of my concern about this performance.@Pandora: I have considered this and tried to decide if I myself am being sexist, but I really don’t think I am. If Britney Spears had done any of the previously mentioned things during a performance, I would also have a problem with it. I didn’t have a problem with the Britney/Madonna kiss and I don’t have a problem with Adam’s kiss. Then again, there was a lot to distract me from that.
I hope that that performance ruined his career. It was sleezy and we don’t need anyone like him in the industry.

  • lynn

The most annoying thing here is that he claims to be a singer and a performer and he did none of them his singing was rubbish and hi didn’t perform well, fell off, etc….What the h*ell was he thinking of? How on earth people compare him to maddona or Lady Gaga or other big names, at least they can back up the acts with a good performance. I couldn’t sing that song well at all.

  • Danielle

Totally agree with Good Morning America

  • lynn

…sorry, i meant, he couldn’t sing that song at all.
Next time you are doing something like this, please, make sure you can actually hit the notes at the same time.

  • Ric

Totally hypocritical, they would have added extra ads to announce Madonna or Britney appearing Discrimation not at just a Gay performer but a man in general.

  • MAC

    F#CKEN F4G!!

  • Pinkrose

People can be deviant all they want at their own paid concerts or pay per view shows. NOT on prime time TV for a mostly tween and teen audience. Come on, where is the decency? Remember how they chased Janet Jackson outta town for a nipple flash? And fined CBS half a million dollars. For months and years afterwards they had the decency police watching every show and the tape delay broadcast. How did they get away with the Adam smut in prime time? I wish CBS gets fined again when Adam operforms.

  • http://www.athletedates.com/ Melanie

So he wants to appeal to the tween crowd that watches American Idol?

  • Rhonda

He not only hurt himself but he hurt gays. the whole argument about gays is that they are a freak show. American Music Awards, the gay comes out and it is a freak show. Good luck with that gay marriage thing!

  • Jane

I wouldnt say their homophobic, they didnt say that didnt want him on cause hes gay, they didnt want him on cause he was being over sexual on his ama concert. People are sex maniacs these days, jeez! Can you just have a concert without looking like your having oral sex with someone or licking inside of a persons mouth?

  • http://justjared deke

Too much, too soon. He is not established yet. It doesn’t matter anyway, Middle America will never be ready for that. Since he closed the AMA’s down, it seemed okay. He admitted the sound was pitchy. Adam has never been pitchy. He has an awesome voice. The backlash will probably take him down a peg or two. Also, the people who blog on this site need to check their spelling!!

  • donna

Oh give me a break america!!!!!!! for this lambert get kick? so the world rather see war than this type of harmless entertainment? for your information young children shouldnt watch this award shows anyway, look at how the performer dress, is rhianna ok to be seen by children with that zebra peek a boo tits? America are so hypocrite! I rather watch adam performance 100 times than watch CNN report another bomb and killing in Iraq!!!

  • TONY

    @donna:
It wasn’t harmless entertainment, it was sh*it singing and a ridiculous performance.
If he wanted to do something like this he should have doen it well, it was cheap and trashy, not sexy at all.

  • Malia

Attention everybody! A Britney Spears fan has entered the comments section, and I’m hear to call a lot of people out!

There is no way that you can blame Adam’s backlash SOLELY on the fact that he’s gay. Britney has gotten SO MUCH flack for nearly everything she has done (from the school-girl skirt and the flesh-toned VMA outfit, to “the Kiss”), and she’s a young, beautiful, blonde, southern straight girl who at one time claimed to be republican. So, If Britney can take the heat, so can Adam (whom I adore, by the way).

I only wish that Adam would at least apologize for the venue at which he decided to put on this type of a show. I don’t have a problem with what he did, I enjoyed it, but I think it would have been better on Showtime or in concert, not on Disney’s ABC.

For his first post-idol performance, he should have tried to impress the audience, not shock them.

  • gwen

Iam not a prude. I like rough shows on HBO, in concert. Things are for adutls and pay are for adults and pay.General tv is for all. He was not edgy or pushing the limits. He went over. There are many shows like Gossip Girl, getting a tween and teen audience and these should be off the air or on cable or late night.
MileyCryus is a tramp and her act is not suitable for kids, tweens and teens, her audience. Parents, peoplehave tostop it. Don’t pay to go to her shows. Yes,she does it doggy style on stage.
Lambert is gay.Dumb because he wanted to outdo in the nasty dept and he got canceled today for GMA.They could not run the risk. He aslosaid he just went with feeling the song on the AMA. He probably did not show AMA what he was going to do. He can really ease his way out of a career.
As someone said,he is gay.We get it.He set gay people with his performance. He is homophobic one.Whypush hisgayness ?

David Bowie kissed a man on stage along time ago.Big deal, old news.Edgy, think up something new.

I really think these shows should use a delay button and censor viewing.Cut only up the faces.Rynanna outfit was disgusting.Ugly.It reminded me of after JLo wore that greenVersace dress,Toni Braxton haad to do one up and wore some white bans of fabric of a dress that was revealing but ugly. That Versace dress was really pretty, the fabricand it was really just her legs and arms exposed. The v low neck was like a swimsuit.

  • http://dlisted.com lakers fan in boston

    hahahahah lmao
it’s hilarious when ppl get shut down
he looks so old in that pic
his face looks all saggy lol

  • Xasha

I waited all evening to see Adam sign at the Amas but when the moment arrived I have to look aside.
I didn’t care about he and the guys acting like they were dogs,it was a show.
But when I saw he shoving people’s faces into his crotch?,that was to much . I dind’t wanna see that . at all . It was so….lame? i don’t know, I don’t wanna say disgusting because I love Adam but….

  • tina

The sad thing here is that Adam really can sing and sing beautifully. That didn’t happen at the AMA’s. I was on the fence about purchasing his CD but between the ridiculous CD cover and this performance-no way will i do it now. He should have used that performance as a spring board to launch his CD. He should have played it safe and gone after the American Idol audience and this would have generated interest for his CD. Instead he has disgusted many of those who would have purchased his CD. He really made a miscalculation. I believe his CD sales will hurt because of his antics. Middle america will not buy music from someone who cares so little about offending them. I like Adam but he made a huge mistake. I also believe that his performance has hurt the gay movement. I know several gay guys but none like him. They don’t feel that they have to shock to be important. He tried to hard to make an impact……well, he made one but not a good one. Chances are this will really hurt him.

  • truthfully

I applaud GMA’s decision. He was both vulgar and crude.

  • mmmmmmm

@paula: honey, there’s a difference between what madonna does on tour than what adam lambert on a broadcasted appearance. there are millions of people that tune in and they aren’t necessarily looking for his vulgar performance. a concert, on the other hand is something people pay to see, and that’s something they should expect. you’re seeking out a certain artist, therefore one should know what he’s doing. that’s a specified audience, broadcasted award shows and daytime shows…that’s as broad and general as you can get. do you get what i’m saying or do you need more of an explanation?
it would have been just as vulgar if he rubbed a female’s face in his crotch. not everything has to do with homophobia so honestly, find something more worthwhile in your life than to accuse everyone of homophobia. honestly, grow up. get an education. get over it.

Go to THE EARLY SHOW. Leave a suggestion to take AdamLambert off of the show tomorrow morning. The form is as easy as posting here.Very user friendly.

  • Jules

Adam Lambert is a tool! ABC is being discriminatory? Madonna and Britney do it, why can’t I? Whine, whine whine….What an entitled douchebag!

Hey Lambert…sell 50 million albums, act professional and make it about the music…then we’ll take you seriously…until then, dissapear!

  • simpleman

He can not sing so who care??????

  • jillie1962

Adam Lambert was doing things that others consider wild and inappropriate long before he ever appeared on the AMA. He was kissing men in public and for the camera long before he appeared on American Idol, as well as publicly dressing in drag. Adam Lambert’s behavior is flamboyant and unedited – but that is not a PR tactic, he simply is who he is.

  • Amy

Adam, if you’re comfortable with your sexuality you shouldn’t force it on others. It’s against nature to force anything. Maybe you are seeking resistance. Not healthy but definitely worldy. Time has a way of lessening the ego through lessons learned. Best of luck to you Adam. Your voice is going to sing true in time.

  • Ginger

i used to like him but now he’s just to annoying… and that disgusting Rate X swallow your face was pure digusting!!!! leave that in the bedroom or at the movies!!
