Meryl Streep Covers 'Vanity Fair' January 2010

Meryl Streep graces the January 2010 cover of Vanity Fair, on NY/LA stands December 2 and nationwide on December 8. Here’s what the 60-year-old shared:

At this stage in her life: “I’m very f—ing grateful to be alive. I have so many friends who are sick or gone, and I’m here. Are you kidding? No complaints!”

On never expecting her acting career to last this long: “It’s incredible—I’m 60, and I’m playing the romantic lead in romantic comedies! Bette Davis is rolling over in her grave. She was 42 when she did All About Eve, and she was 54 when she did What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?

She still has it.

# 2

She’s GORGEOUS!!

# 3

I really like her, but why oh why did VF feel the need to PHOTOSHOP away nearly every single one of her wrinkles???

# 4

the best actress of this era, no one else, even comes close!

# 5

I agree with #3. She should not have allowed this. She does not need it, she a a beautiful woman. What is wrong with our society? You are aging and your face is suppose to be smoother that a baby buttcheeks??? How unrealistic!!!!!!

I am glad Meryl Streep is on the cover of one of these magazines. They NEVER put older women on the cover of major magazines, especially those that cater to the popular culture set.

I was just thinking that during the election cycle last year, John McCain was on the cover of GQ and Esquire, but Hilary was never on the cover of their FEMALE equivalent–Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar.

It’s silly really. I am glad the folks at VF decided to put an older, accomplished woman on the cover. I hope they don’t photoshop her wrinkles out or try to make her look younger. Keep her the way she is.

she is beautiful and so effing funny! lol

My favorite actress since I was a child. Best of her days. She and Bette Davis both have/had such incredible talent. True actresses! There is none alive who is better than Streep. Eat your heart out, Hollywood.

Meryl is gorgeous! So classy. She rules.

she gets really great roles!

Sorry as good as she is, she has been phoning it in or hamming it up in her 3 most recent movies: Devil Wears Prada (laughable), Mama Mia (campy fun) and Julie/Julia (a mockery of the legend Julia Child).

She hasn’t been Sophie’s Choice since Sophie’s choice. I hope she stops relying on her legacy to just phone in the work and assume people will think it’s great just because she did it. It doesn’ work for DeNiro, or Pacino.

meryl is one of my fave actresses, the others are glenn close, jodie foster, and hilary swank.

I can’t believe that they decided to photoshop her, it’s sooo sad coz she is 60 yrs old and proud of it, the cover looks terrible because of what they’ve done :(

@sorry: Honey, if my memory serves me right, she was nominated for an Academy Award for her role in The Devil Wears Prada as well as for her recent role in last year’s Doubt. I think that maybe you should do your research before you start being a movie critic hun.

She is amazing. All class.

Awesome lady and wonderful actress! GO MERYL

MERYL IS A GODDESS !!!
SHE IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL AND TALENTED LADY ON EARTH !!!
I must have a copy ASAP !!!

I’m sorry for the haters, but it doesn’t get much better than Maryl Streep. I’m not a fan of Mamma Mia, but I have to admit that even there she was good. She’s probably the only actress in the world who could pull that movie off.

I wonder how many tons of makeup they had to apply to her face. Or it could be the Botox. Or Photoshop. Or all of the above! -___-

I’ve seen this woman without makeup. Her face resembles a raisin, no lie.

One Mistake VF made though…if they can show me another actress in past or present who can totally disappear in her character, the cameleon, the shape-shifter, the body-snatcher, the premium-actress that Meryl has showed us is possiblo, who so completely disappears into her role, the consumate artist… I will show anyone a better than Le Streep, somewhere in the world. But alas, she does not exist!

So what does that make her? She is the greating actress the world has EVER f–king known–of all times!

Wake up world! Le Streep is The One. I don’t know if it will take a century or two or a thousand years to even duplicate her but maybe her equal or greater has already been born.

We’ll find out sooner than later.

This woman is both premium and the popular. You can never get better than that!
