I’m secretly hoping that Lady Gaga wins something. I wasn’t too sure about her at first, but the woman is rather talented. And I agree with the whole Taylor swift thing. She’s sweet and all, and I am a fan, but her music isn’t as great. But congrats to her anyway. For 19, she’s achieved a lot.
If Kanye West knew that interrupting Taylor Swift would only propel her fame, I bet he would not have done it! I like her songs… their cute and catchy…. but she is limited vocally and I could probably find a random chick that could be just as good as she is…. hell i could probably do it

@Mr. Grammy: Excuse me, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift are two very impressive artists. Both have written their own songs on their CD, and I think that they can both sing pretty well. I rather have them than some artist who is manufactured and lip syncs all the time.

Ugh..I’m so sick of Taylor Swift. The pity party should have ended months ago.
I’m glad to see I’m not the only one that thinks Taylor Swift is EXTREMELY overrated. I find her personality endearing and think that she is a talented songwriter, but as far as the Grammy committee placing her in the same category as some of these power-house singers…its laughable.
If Kanye knew what he was starting at the VMA’s i am sure he would not have done what he did. All these sympathy votes for Taylor are starting to get old. 8 nods for her–unbelievable. Beyonce, Carrie, even lady Gaga can sing sircles around her. i AM JUST HOPING THAT THE GRAMMY VOTERS APPRECIATE REAL VOCAL TALENT. Taylor is a sweet girl but she can’t sing. I sure hope she does not open the Grammy’s. It is painful to watch her struggle with notes she can’t get and trhrowing her head around like a freak.

I feel that Britney Spears should have been nominated for something. This is one of the biggest years she has ever had as an artist. And her new single “3″ was one of the only 3 or 4 singles to debut at number one since 1998 (Lauren Hill had a song debut at #1 in ’98 and since then there have been 3 or 4 singles, all by American Idol winners to debut at #1). Her tour has sold out everywhere, and her album has been one of the highest selling of the past year. Even though alot of people here would disagree with me, you have to agree that she is pop music Icon, and I feel that alot of award shows dont recognize her her the way they should

i’m so glad keri hilson got a nomination but what about carrie underwood or mariah carey or whitney houston or kelly clarkson. all of these people has spectacular albums and not even one nomination. Also i have to agree with the majority of the comments, Taylor swift is a great songwriter but she is simply overrated. She just does not have the vocal chops like all the great pop divas. one more thing, beyonce is talented but is somewhat overrated because her songs just get on my nerves.
P.S. They even forgot jordin sparks, battlefield was a huge success in the U.S. this grammy award season is gonna suck.

Kelly Clarkson not being nominated after breaking and setting the biggest jump to #1 in billboard history is a shame. She also had two of the most played/popular songs on the radio (and Itunes) in My Life Would Suck Without You and Already Gone. Plus her vocals blow these other contenders out of the water!

Some of you people seem so ignorant. Taylor Swift was winning awards and selling more albums than other artists long before the Kanye West incident. She was nominated for a Grammy LAST year too. So what if she misses a note every now and then. That just goes to show how genuine she really is. Half of the performers today don’t even actually sing. Taylor has worked really hard for everything she’s done and is now being rewarded for it. Kanye West didn’t do anything except make everyone in the world, including the president of the United States, think of him as a jackass. :)

If we are talking VOCALS only, then Kelly Clarkson should win hands down. She can sing any genre of music out there and showed much of that on her CD. She also wrote or co-wrote many of her own songs on this CD. Her name is listed first(not Ryan Tedder) for lyrics for Already Gone. She has had many of her songs in the top 20. She set a record with the biggest jump in history and has one of the best voices around. She, unlike many of the other nominations, doesn’t lip sync. She also sells music on her voice alone and not her looks or body being displayed. I do agree that a couple of the other artists are almost as good vocally.
Taylor Swift is very smart with selecting the best music for her voice, but for a vocal nomination…NOT! I am surprised that a couple other people were not nominated.

I will not watch the awards this year. I have been die hard fan of music for 30 years, loving all types of music. “My Life Would Suck Without You” and “Already Gone” by KELLY CLARKSON were two of the best songs I have heard in years! Where is she on the nominees? What a joke! I agree with the others that Britney Spears should also be nominated more. I will shut off the TV and put on my IPOD and hear the true winners in 2009, and so should everyone else.
