Rafael Nadal and the Spanish tennis team are photographed together at the Davis Cup in Barcelona, Spain on Saturday (December 5).
The 23-year-old tennis player handily beat beat Czech Republic’s Jan Hajek 6-3 6-4 in Barcelona while David Ferrer defeated Lukas Dlouhy 6-4 6-2.
Spain is the first country to successfully defend the title since Sweden in 1998. “I’m feeling very happy, I’m so happy for the whole team. We did an incredible job the whole year,” Spanish captain Albert Costa said in a news conference. “But winning the Davis Cup two years in a row is a spectacular achievement. We should value it enormously,”
