  • JD

    Definitely watching this!

  • Carrie Bradshaw

It looks ok, but is anyone else sick of Johnny Depp? He just plays the same character in each film he does these past few years. I’m bored of him.

  • julie

    he looks like madonna :)

  • Dan

@Carrie Bradshaw: So you’re basically saying that Jack Sparrow, Sweeney Todd, Willy Wonka and Mad Hatter are all the same character? yes they are all played by Depp but, he’s such a great actor that u just buy all the roles that are given to him… so of course nobody’s bored of him… (well not me)

  • Carrie Bradshaw

I would say that aspects of those characters are similar yes that is why i’m bored of him. I just think he’s hugely overrated over recent years by all these fan girls and when I ask them “So have you seen him in ‘Whats Eating Gilbert Grape/Platoon/Ed Wood?” and they’re like “Huh?”. He was at his best 10 years ago. Personally now I just find all these characters too similar and stupid.

  • Thunderstruck

    hahaaa I’m Waiting!!!

  • Thunderstruck

@Carrie Bradshaw: but i think in some way you’re right

  • amanda

I love, love, love Mia Wasikowska. She was amazing in HBO’s “In Treatment.” I’ll see the movie because of her, actually, not Johnny Depp.

  • Bella

Love Johnny, not sure I can stomach the Vivienne Westwood look though!

  • Barbarella

I think I just came in my pants. :D

  • kate

hmmm seems a bit like the lion, the witch and wardrobe. young girl goes to magical land, evil queen has taken over, weird characters, talking animals, girl must save them all etc etc i know alice in wonderland was written before narnia but this is tim burton’s version of alice revisting wonderland years later

  • Johanna

Johnny is great and so funny!!!:)I love him so much!!!!!

  • Cristobal

I can not wait for this movie.

  • nadine

Love JD and the rest of the cast looks like perfection.
This is a great story and everyone will enjoy it, young and old.
    Bravo Tim Burton, another masterpiece.
    Can’t wait to see it.

  • T

And he is still a sexy mofo

  • yep

Johnny Depp is amazing, I agree there is no topping Gilbert Grape, but the man is uber talented. He can pull of characters like no one else. I’ll definitely be seeing this movie.

  • sarahc

    thats friggin scary man!

  • So Judgemental

Arizona Dream, Dead Man, Gilbert Grape, Ed Wood, Donnie Brasco, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Blow, Chocolat, Finding Neverland.. those were his best.

He sold out a little with the Pirate’s movies.. but most actors do at some point in their career. The Johnny of the 80′s and 90′s would have flat turned them down. He never wanted to see his face on action figures and cereal boxes.. but ah well.

I would love to see him distance himself from Burton and do more movies like the Tourist with Jolie. And I cannot wait for Rum Diary.

  • bobby

yep he is a bit of a sellout lattle
i cant believe hes making pirates 4

  • ivanka

if johnny is in this movie, im watching this! AND IN 3D!!!11111

  • i n f a m o u s l y c o o l

depp ‘s playedout. this shiit’s gonna scared kids. i’d probably watch the first 10mins of it online for free then get annoyed and [x] it out.

  • Yo

ohh!! c’mon “Public Enemies” is absolutely different from this!…no way!! you may acuse him of weirdo or everything you want, but never in the world you may accuse him to play same carachter over and over again!!…carrie bradshaw, you’re mad as a hatter!!

  • yep

Johnny Depp MADE pirates what it is, without him it would have been much different and not in a good way. He made such an eccentric character with Jack Sparrow, don’t hate on him cause he’s talented.

And Public Enemies anyone??? How is that playing the same character? He can only film so many movies in a space of time…

  • Erin

If Johnny Depp is a sellout, please tell me what Brad Pitt, George Clooney, and Matt Damon are. Actually I think Brad and George ARE sellouts, doing commercials in Japan, etc. for booze, watches, whatever. And Damon is doing a fourth Bourne movie. So if Johnny is a sellout, he’s a much better sellout than the rest of them. His talent stands alone.

  • deneb

    yep he looks like madonna!

  • jolentini
  • Missb

@julie: I was thinking just the same: Madonna without Photoshop lol :)

  • AM Dawn

Ha, ha! I thought Johnny Depp’s Mad Hatter was Madonna! (Are we sure it isn’t?)

  • that’s right

    Johnny Depp is a sellout.

  • So Judgemental

He is a sell out in the sense that he would have rather driven off a cliff then be on a cereal box or have an action figure.. it is everything he worked to distance himself from for years.. and he showed his contempt for it in every interview until he sold out to Disney. I am not saying he didn’t make the character his own or perform well.. just he sold out to the corp machine he fought against for over a decade.

Pitt, Clooney and Damon are not categorized as such cause they never made a stand against it at all but used it to their advantage.. if Clooney wanted a deal to make Good-bye and Good Luck he would package it with an Ocean’s movie to get it done. And all of them sell products over seas to help with face and name recognition for the movies… it is seen differently in places in Japan then here. Part of the business.

And Burton could have saved a lot of salary and makeup by just hiring Elijah Wood instead of turning Johnny into him.

  • me

oh please.Just leave Johnny alone. He is no of stupid, dull, arogant actor. he’s amazing.Talented.And rare. And by the way,how much movies did you watch?Public enemies and Pirates are very different from each other. Oh well, but why do I care to explain? so addicted to D-films and actors that Depp looks commercial and gets you bored.

  • cocaine

    That’s Madonna isn’t it?

  • Barney Baby

I love this movie, so excited

  • lakers fan in boston

the movie looks like it’s gonna be good
but ive never really like alice in the wonderland
all those characters have creeped me out since i was a kid

  • roch20

OMG! I swear to God, i though it was Madge!

  • videotape

  • Gag

I am so sick of this money grubbing, anti-American fop. Each role with the heavy makeup is more ridiculous than the last. Used to be unique, now it’s just horrific.

  • becky

@kate: true, but alice in wonderland was written in the 19th century and the narnia books were published in the 50′s.

  • OUI

In this decade: Before Night falls, Chocolat, From Hell, Blow, Once upon a time in México, Secret Window, Finding Neverland, The Libertine and Public Enemies…NO, it is not his fault if the people who talk in this thread don’t see all his movies, apart from “Pirates of the Caribbean”, “Charlie and the cholat factories” or “Sweeney Todd”

  • jeje

hahahaha so funny people are actually hatin gon JD in these comments

Mr. Depp has already stated quite a few times in interviews he wanted to some movies his CHILDREN would enjoy so I think he has grown up and changed in to a loving caring parent…not a sell out lol

  • jillian

When I saw the video still of Johnny I thought it was Elijah Woods! haha. But it looks suppperrr good. Way more evil looking than I thought it would be but I love it.

  • Katsaridoula

i thought it was maddona not depp :-D

  • http://aol Lully

Come on guys! This is just absolutely STUPID! Give this guy a break! I think he is a fabulous actor, and even if he does “the same character” (as you say) agian and agian, he does a fantastic job! This man has got talent!!!!
