Carey Mulligan Vogues Into New Year

Carey Mulligan shows off some interesting fashion in these new photos from the January 2010 issue of Vogue (with cover girl Rachel McAdams!)

Here’s what the 24-year-old star of An Education had to share…

On her first day on the set of Pride & Prejudice: “I was terrified. I just copied what Jena Malone did. She was brilliant.”

On making daring fashion choices: “I love to try mad things, like the Prada dress. It was cool, like I was going into battle.”

On hitting the red carpet: “[D]oing the red carpet isn’t my favorite thing. Having to be judged or appraised more than I already am would freak me out, though I am sure it will get easier.”

She is the epitome of an Avant-garde beauty. Her style is unique, eclectic and pulls from decades of the very best. I hate to use the term “retro” but her look is just that. For those of you hating on her – ever notice the dress of the 20′s, 30′s and 40′s? She blends all of it into quite the modern look. I love it! AND I adore her striking anomalous face and features.

Society’s current standard of beauty is not only disheartening but shameful. Most of you wouldn’t know a true, naturally beautiful woman if she were standing on top of you.

“Interesting” is far from the term I’d use! How about “foolish.”

Quite right! It seems to me it is excellent idea. I agree with you.
