The 37-year-old actress has said she isn’t a fan of the way Italian-Americans are depicted on the show. “Jersey Shore isn’t my cup of Italian tea,” she tweeted recently.
“They are way overreacting to the show,” JS starlet Snooki said (via Us Weekly). “We’re 22 to 29 just having fun at the shore. They are just taking it way out of proportion.”

Alyssa is right. I’ve hung out at the Jersey Shore a few times…they are a bit over acting….but, now adays, people crave outlandish and obnoxious behaviors…it’s almost acceptable in todays’ society.
Italians are better looking than those on that show but the infamous swagger that the guys are known for is REAL.

MTV should make it better known that only two of the cast are actually fom New Jersey; the rest are from LI and Staten Island. They pollute our beaches every summer and make us true New Jerseyians take refuge at other beaches. But more than that, they give us an awful reputation to the entire country. MTV should really consider renaming this “show” to make it more clear that Jersey is only the LOCATION….
or better yet, they should return to playing music videos, not coming up with the same old trashy reality shows.

Why do people hold them to this standard that they are representing all of italy and it’s culture??? the show is called “Jersey Shore” not “Italian Americans”….. As a black person when I see shows like “flavor of love” I don’t feel like they are reppresenting blacks as a race they are just representing their own trashy selves (flarvor of love girls and flava flave)

The really sad part is the constant complaints from Italian Americans have turned what probably would have been an little known/little watched show into a huge ratings success for MTV.
You guys might have just greenlighted Season 2 when there probably would never had been one.

I think if people look at this show and think all Italians are like this, then that’s sad. Good point about Flavor Flav as well. If people who watched that show thought that’s how all black’s act then that’s very sad as well. But there are black’s who act like that and there are italins who act like the people on Jersey Shore as well, but it’s just dumb to generalize everyone. I like the “Jersey Shore”. There are people like this in real life, I see ‘em all the time in Jersey and NY (mainly Staten Island and Brooklyn).
It’s really just not that serious though. If you don’t like the show, then don’t watch.

Jersey Shore sucks. Is that how Italians are? If so, I want nothing to do with them!
I can understand making fun at how they dress, their hair style, makeup application and how they behave, because they do that to themselves, but if you were born dark and are slightly chubby or have a big butt, then you should not accept that about you??
Should they do the typical Hollywood anorexic, bleach of their skin and practice self hatred of how they look naturally? Some Italians have self hatred where they feel they have to look like scandinavians to fit into the society. When you make fun of people with dark skin who may have a well endowed behinds, you are making fun of people who are the majority of the world’s population. Think before you act.
