OlderAmerican Idol Season 9: First Pics of Ellen as a Judge!
American Idol is back for its ninth season a week from today, and here’s your first look at Ellen DeGeneres with host Ryan Seacrest and fellow judges Randy Jackson, Kara DioGuardi and Simon Cowell!
The two-night season premiere will air next Tuesday (January 12) at 8/7c on FOX and Wednesday (January 13) in the same time slot. According to Access Hollywood, the premiere week will feature auditions from Atlanta and Boston.
Ellen won’t be on the judging panel until February; instead, guest judges will be sitting in during the initial audition rounds. Look celeb judges including Victoria Beckham, Mary J. Blige, Kristin Chenoweth, Neil Patrick Harris, Joe Jonas, Katy Perry and more!

YAWNSSS. Sorry but like it or not without Paula the show is a total snoozefest. Anyone may laugh at Paula’s antics but that is what makes her interesting. Her chemistry with Simon is undeniable especially when they are fighting, even bordering to sexual nature, This is what’s good about that show. Simon knows it. Maybe this is the reason why he decided to also leave the show.
As for me, I ‘m sure there are other more interesting show to watch on the same time slot.

Without Paula it won’t be the same…won’t be watching either! Ellen doesn’t fit the show at all. Kara lacks warmth and personality..she never should have been brought in. The original group were the best!

The casting of Ellen DeGeneres to replace Paula is a big gamble. Ellen is witty and has a good sence of herself, but this will not be enough.
This show has had a remarkable success. This is primarily due to the talent… not the judges.
The show has been an American Heartland hit. The “Good Cop – Bad Cop” banted between Paula and Simon was a strong and successful element.
Dad (Simon) would scold and Mom/Big Sister (Paula) would console.
Where is the Love..?? The chemistry will surely change.
I predict that this show has either peaked or will peak this year and head Down.
Another Hollywood Failure to understand and manage it’s own success!

Paula was hilarious. I want Paula back. Her connection with Simon was funny but with ellen there wont be one like that.
Have watched American Idol since season two. Not likely to watch any more. Can’t stand Ellen Degenerate!
I don’t think I’ll miss Paula. The whole thing about her and Simon was really annoying and she didn’t seem very professional.
That having been said that picture of them all together is some bad overlaying of solo pictures. It’s so obvious they didn’t pose together.

I’m gonna watch only to see Victoria Beckham as a guest judge, to see just how mean Simon was to her, hahah apparently they got at each other a lot. And she is just a cutie that i love.

I like Ellen. I like Idol.
I don’t like the idea of Ellen on Idol though, just doesn’t seem like a good fit, and for the first time, I’m not even looking forward to the show.
4 judges are too many anyway, there won’t be enough time for Ellens wit to help. Perhaps the beginning of the decline that will culminate with Simon’s leaving next year, which I’m guessing will leave us with two mediocre versions of the same show instead of one solid one.
I love to watch the Ellen show so it will be nice to see her again on Idol. She is wonderful and does wonderful things for people. Wish she could help me out
No Paula, no me! And I’m not a Paula Abdul fan, per se. And I like Ellen. Paula actually gave some pretty good critiques in her offbeat, dizzbag sort of way. And the contestants were comforted. She provided a buffer that none of the others have. Well of course not Simon, he’s all about telling it exactly how it is. The producers should have paid her. BTW, am I the only one who hates Karla and her run-on sentence critiques that go nowhere. She acts so deep! I actually wasn’t planning to watch even with Paula until they got rid of Karla.
