Jared Padalecki is engaged to his former Supernatural costar Genevieve Cortese, his rep confirms to JustJared.com.
A few weeks ago, Genevieve (engagement ring pictured here) publicly set her Facebook relationship status to engaged. The wedding is rumored to take place in Idaho later this year.
Back in November, JustJared.com exclusively broke the news that Jared‘s co-star Jensen Ackles got engaged to One Tree Hill actress Danneel Harris.
The Padalecki engagement news was first reported by E!‘s Kristin Dos Santos.

Hello, world. This is common decency speaking. Jared and Genevieve are actors, not your own personal playthings. They’re human beings, too, you know. Cut them some slack. Personally, I’m very happy for them. And this coming from one of the greatest Sam/Jared girls of all time. He’s a big boy, he can make his own decisions. We, the fans, have no right to be involved in their personal life. I’ve always appreciated Jared’s and Jensen’s desire for privacy, especially in dating. They don’t publicize their relationships, which, to me, shows a certain genuine aspect to them. They’re dating for love, not for attention. I love that about them. Jared is such a decent, sweet, and loving guy; not to mention intelligent. I trust him to make the right decision here. I don’t know much about Genevieve, but from what I can gather, she also seems like a very sweet girl. I don’t think Jared would date anyone less than that.
Long story short; either be happy for them or shut the hell up. Because, honestly, it’s none of your business anyway.

And in my opinion, a year is plenty long enough to know if you want to be together for the rest of your lives. Jared and Sandy had a long distance relationship for 3 years while he worked almost constantly. It was bound to take its toll. Gen was in Vancouver working alongside Jared for most of last year, they spent the entire summer touring Europe together, and even now it seems like they see a lot of each other between Vancouver and LA. By now they would know if they’re right for each other, so why should they wait? Just to make fandom happy? I don’t think so.

First off, just because he didn’t come out publicly about his relationship with Genevieve, it doesn’t mean he’s “ashamed” as one fan wrote on here. Jared is a private person and doesn’t feel like he needs to confirm everything he does to the fans. Everyone knew about his relationship with Sandy and look how that turned out. He’s been dating Genevieve over a year, sure he moved on fast, but it’s not like he just started dating Genevieve and asked her to marry him.

I’m of very mixed feelings on this announcement. It was hard keeping it quiet since the Chicago Con, but now that it’s out in the open, here’s what I truly feel. Jared is a pure darling, a gentleman and a sweetheart. I was there in LA for the Sandy engagement announcement and there in Dallas for the heartbreak retraction. I’ve seen first hand (outside of Cons), the true look of love on Jared’s face when he sees Jensen. The gentle smiles on Jensen’s face when he sees Jared, the playfulness and the protectiveness * all lovingly there. I believe we have two men who love each other very deeply and are caught between a rock and a hard place trying to maintain their careers, please their families and make it all work. It is with sadness though, that their love for one and other, will continue to have to remain less open. And yet, it will always be there, just behind that special veil of love that they share.

I think that there are some fans out there who need to recognise the difference between what they would like to be true and reality. Jared and Jensen are attractive guys. A lot of girls (and some boys too, of course) find the idea of them together pretty hot. By all means, have fantasies. There’s nothing wrong with that. But please recognise that they are just fantasies.
Actors shouldn’t have to consider what their fans will think of them before making decisions in their life, such as asking someone to marry them. You’d be outraged if an actor announced that they were engaged to another man and the fans reacted badly to it, so why is it alright for the fans to react badly as long as it’s a woman?

I’m not a fan of her at all. It has nothing to do with her being ‘Ruby’..that’s just STUPID. I hate the way she came off in her interviews completely full of herself, continuously commenting on how she is a talented actress which is complete FAIL, she knew nothing of the show, which showed lack of dedication, and honestly, I LOVED Sandy, she was genuine, kind, and even fans praised her on how wonderful she was. Gen, not so much.
But at the end of the day, Jared is going to do what he wants, and I wish him all the happiness, but this whole sh!t sounds fishy, and completely ODD….engagements..BACK To BACK?????
Also, Jared, please, next time, please give a genuine smile that you are ACTUALLY happy with Gen, we the fans (because obviously you wanted us to know or your rep wouldn’t have said anything), it would be a little more convincing that this is actually REAL!
It’s probably too soon for Jared to be getting married to another woman after he only broke off a previous engagement last year, but some people get into marriages and relationships impulsively.
I also think he is getting married because Jensen is getting married. Some friends are influenced to get married when they see another friend doing it.
I’m a fan of the show and of these two gorgeous guys but honestly I could care less about their personal lives. Unlike some people, I realize Jared and Jensen are just actors and they don’t need your approval, fangirls. Congrats Jared and Gen and Jensen and Danneel. :)
Ah this reminds me of old Hollywood when studios would “marry-off” their gay heartthrobs to willing no-name actresses for the chance at celebrity and fame. Oh Jared, Ted Casablancas and Page Six were right about you and Jensen, weren’t they?

This whole thing with Jared and Jensen getting engaged 2 months apart is very very odd. I honestly think its all one big made up deal with the studios so they can keep the ratings high on the show because of the rumors about Jared and Jensen being together. I really don’t think they realize that all of this engagement crap is just pissing of their main viewing demographic of female fans . These rumors have been going around for a long time and I honestly believe there is truth to them. The timing of their relationships with the woman they have both been with during Supernatural usually coincides with the rumors hitting a high note or when there is a convention and people are going to see J & J together in a public setting.
Late to the party, but they make a lovely couple and congrats to them!

i was really shocked about this,i actually didn’t knew that there is something between them . all the Ruby stuff made me kinda hate her. i love jared ,i want him to be happy and i understand – it’s his life and we – fans – can’t change ANYTHING. i really loved sandy,she was really sweet,kind and just great. and jared looked really happy with her. but THIS – i don’t think this is going to work out . You who keep saying he could have done better… Who should he have picked? YOU? You wouldn’t have a chance in hell with him anyways, sorry to say. Celebrities are just people like you and I, even though they happen to work as actors. Acting is just a job like everything else.
And in all fairness. Do any of you really KNOW Jared or Gen anyways? DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT THEY’RE REALLY LIKE? Answer: No. They’re human beings, entitled to their lives and privacy. What gives you the right, as fans, to tell him he could have done better or that he’s rushing it? Or that it’s a silly PR stunt? Answer: ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
Being so obsessed about a celebrity that you can’t handle them getting married just so you can maintain your own little silly illusions about having a dream wedding with them? Not cool. There is being a fan, and there’s overstepping your boundaries. True fans would be happy for him and accept his decision. And know where the line is.
Jared’s a big boy. He can make his own decisions about his love life. Obviously they think this is what’s right, and I support their decision. And in all honesty, none of you know what their relationship is like.
Jared seems like a nice guy, and I’m a fan of his work as an actor, because he really is brilliant at what he does. In all honesty, I fell in love with Sam on the show, not Jared. I tend to be more towards character crushes anyways.
So, CONGRATULATIONS to the happy couple. Hope you get your happily ever after. As Spock would say; live long and prosper.

Then last week his bachelor party in Las Vegas. Did anybody saw any pics? And I don´t mean one from the party itself. There are no pics who show him or any of his guests! Only Clif said something on FB that he was not avaiable at the weekend. The only statement in the press was that he celebrated there, but that was all! I mean come on…..Jared Padalecki makes party on a event with hundreds of presspeople and nobody makes a picture?!
