OlderEllen DeGeneres: I'm Not Going to Be Able to Please Everyone
EW sat down with American Idol judges Simon Cowell and AI newbie Ellen DeGeneres to talk about what season 9 of the show has in store!
Here’s what Simon and Ellen had to share:
Ellen, on whether she worries about negativity from viewers: “Yeah, sure. And I understand it. I was one of those people that was skeptical, like, ‘Why are they adding a fourth judge? I don’t understand this.’ But I do think that Kara adds a lot to the show now. And also, it’s not just a new judge. It’s a new judge in the place of someone that they loved. I mean, a lot of people loved Paula, and I don’t want to be the person that took Paula’s job away from her. Which I wasn’t. I’m not going to be able to please everyone. I gave up trying to do that a long time ago.”
Simon, on criticism of his gay-themed banter with Ryan Seacrest: “Let me tell you something: We are the least racist, homophobic show in the world. What we do have, thank God, is a sense of humor. I hate political correctness. I wouldn’t go into any show saying anything is off-limits. If we have to abide by a ton of rules, we might as well call it a day now.”
Ellen, on what she’d do if Simon left the show: “If Simon goes, I go! I will not be there without Simon.”

Cooommme onnnn…. Ellen will most def ruin that show by trying to make it all about her by trying to be funny. Even on her talkshow, you can tell how uncomfortable she is when a guest is funnier than she is…
“if Simon Goes, I GO” ???? YYYYYYYeahh bucking right! Suuure. #1, if Simon goes, everybody goes because that show is not a show without him. #2 just another opportunity for Ellen to try to run the show if he goes.
As the years pass, Ellen looks more and more like a man. She is a wonderful human being however, stop trying to look like something you are not.

I won’t be watching! It just won’t be the same without PAULA, the only reason I watched was because of paula and simon seriously!!! Don’t care much about the singing. Oh well I’ll be watching some other show…

Simon said the same thing about Paula. “if Paula goes I go” and looks where they are now. Simon turned his back on Paula.
i surely won’t watch this show anymore the show was full of life with paula and her beautiful smile now it became a borring show with borring people (except simon), like they say in france “don’t ever change a winning team” and simon,paula and randy were a winning team.

Ellen will try to be funny. She won’t be at all constructive… she’ll just try to be the centre of attention and make everyone laugh every few minutes….

Yeah I agree that Ellen is funny but she is threatened by funnier characters, anyway her contribution is just amazing in the idol show kudos! Ellen. You can stand up without Simon but it is just my thoughts and opinion! Anyway
Some of these comments people are saying here on this issue really seem to make me look at this in a whole new way. I do enjoy the responses though.
