OlderCristiano Ronaldo: Emporio Armani Underwear Ads!
Soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo strips down and flaunts those famous abs of his for the Spring/Summer 2010 campaigns for Emporio Armani Men’s Underwear and Armani Jeans.
The 24-year-old Portuguese stud, who plays for Spanish club Real Madrid and the national Portuguese team, replaced David Beckham who has been the spokesmodel for Emporio Armani Men’s Underwear since January 2008.

I use to like Ronaldo a lot. His body is great, but he is looking more and more feminine. Emporio Armani chose big celebs of 2009, but in 2010, both CR and Megan Fox have fallen off the radar & they don’t have that appeal the company is known to have.

The latest ads SUCK big time. I use to like Ronaldo, but he is not a model at all. Becks had that sex appeal and allure in the face, not just the hot body. I’m disappointed…bring Becks back PLEASE!! Or even that Calvin Klein model who posed with Eva Mendes!
Indeed, I find him a bit TOO muscled if that makes any sense, prefer Beckham’s slighter build.
Plus I dislike the overly preened-ness of Ronaldo (not that Beckham doesn’t preen & style himself etc but Ronaldo goes over the top with too much waxing, tanning, eyebrow shaping etc).

I love him, no matter what. He’s a fantastic footballer and outrageously attractive when he’s not trying. These poses are so horribly wrong for him, add that with the fact that he really can’t model per se, and what you realize is that armani just got this wrong. Both sets of photos, meaning Cristiano’s and Ms Fox’s were just bad. The only way to revive this campaign is to have them pose together and of course change the photographers and refrain from photoshopping Ronaldo’s face. That being said, and I say this with love, the boy should just play football. Although google him and you will find that his modeling for pepe jeans was much better than this.

He is very muscular but that does not make him more attractive or effective in selling the product or the image of Armani.
Becks was more sensual, sexual, handsome and a had better overall appeal in his ads, which made me want to go out and buy the product.
Becks, in contrast to Ronaldo, has the body of a long-distance athlete (which he is) – lean and less muscular – which to me is more attractive and suitable as an underwear model and more effective in representing and selling the product.
