Cate Blanchett Named Best Actress for 'Streetcar'
Cate Blanchett wins the Best Actress in a Leading Role for her work in A Streetcar Named Desire at the 2009 Sydney Theatre Awards held at Club Swans on Monday (January 18) in Sydney, Australia.
The 40-year-old Australian actress and her husband Andrew Upton both share the role of artistic director at the theater company.
“But it does give me exquisite pleasure to pip the ubiquitous and, in my opinion, the much over-rated Cate Blanchett,” Cate joked after accepting the award. “I was at NIDA [National Institute Of Dramatic Art] with her and she was a sh**.”

Good for her.
first two things that come to my mind when I think about cate blanchett: greatest actress of her generation and a real class act
She is always pretty
Happy for her. I saw A Streetcar Named Desire last month at BAM. Her performance was one of the best stage performances I have ever seen. It was that good. I hope they will bring this production to Broadway so a lot of people can go to see it and know how great and talented this woman is.
LOL! Love her
I loved her in LOTR
