I’m all for classics and all but I don’t think that is a good idea. I mean, why botcher a classic? We all know that when they re-do something, it can be a movie or a song, the new one slaughters the old one. Nothing comparable. It’s a shame for the classic. So nah, sorry. I’ll stick to the classic! Original is always the best. (even though it is not of my generation and I love all these new people trying to cover it)

It wouldn’t be the same without Michael.

    shoes4life Says:

Leave the original alone and come up with a new idea.

Besides it wouldn’t be the same without Michael and the real talent that made this record with him are true legends in the industry and you just can’t top it.

The song is so special, I hope they don’t do it.

    AutumnM Says:

What an awful idea. First off, it will be awful without MJ (who co-wrote the song along with Lionel Richie). He was such an integral part of it. Besides Michael though, there were many great singers who sang on that song like Tina Turner, Ray Charles, Steve Perry,Cyndi Lauper, etc. That song was a classic and it just wont be the same, so why even attempt to re-do this song? People such as Fergie, Justin Timberlake, etc. wont do the song any justice. They need to just leave this alone.

The original can never be topped, so this is a waste.

It’s a nice idea, but I agree that they should just come up with another song. They really need to leave this one alone. I’m not sure that I’ll survive the insult if I hear Justin Timberlake do Michael’s part.

WHY BOTHER MR. JONES WHY NOT JUST HAVE MICHAEL JACKSON SING IT ALONE WHY HAVE ALL THE CELEBRITY
SINGERS.. WHO NEEDS THEM WHEN AT THE TRIBUTE
FOR MICHAEL IT WAS HIS VERSION NOT THE ORIGINAL…
After all it is not for Michael it was a song that they did because
London did their song for AFRICA NOT MICHAEL JACKSON..!!

So America had to take part in their version.. why not have a
Michael Jackson version and the money going to Haiti…
The Jackson family would not mind.. Even though it was
a group effort and that big singers like Bruce Springsteen
were there…IT IS NOT MICHAELS SONG.. PLEASE GIVE IT
A REST ….. IT WAS FOR AFRICA RELIEF FUND… O.K…
BULLSHIT COMES TO MIND WHEN I THINK OF HIS VERSION
AT HIS TRIBUTE AND MAKING SURE THAT LIONEL DID NOT
GET A BIG CREDIT FOR DOING IT TOO.. NO ONE

What a bunch of crap telethons by celebrities are!!!!! the cost incurred to advertise, pay for sponsors, airtime, costumes, transportation etc……will eat at the money raised that very little will get to those in Haiti. If they really wanted to help why don’t they give even 1% of their gross and then just encourage the general public to give???? they aren’t doing that because they wouldn’t get the publicity these individuals live for……..THIS is their reward on earth; no more, no less…………what a joke all of this is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can never re-do a Michael Jackson track w/o him in it!!!! Nobody does it like MIKE, NOBODY!!!! They need to make their own song. Their suppose to be artist. Nows their time to shine and really show they can make their own music instead of trying to replicate the GREATIST THAT EVA DID IT!!!!

    Shelley Says:

It has to have Michael in it-it is his song- if not leave this brilliant song along and write another. Michael is the world!

    Dee Galvin Says:

It doesen’t matter I won’t watch nor will I buy it, I already have the original. Only Michael can sing his part, and it is Mike’s song and nobody else’s. I don’t care how many phony other singers you try to put in the new one it won’t work. Besides we already gave to Hope for Hiati. You are a nasty bunch of backstabbers. Now I know that you all were jealous of Michael’s popularity, the truth will out. and Your sin will find you out.

    Talon Says:

@shoes4life: Seriously. I Stumbled this to my best friend with the sentiment that you CANNOT do a re-mix of We Are The World withOUT Michael Jackson.

    Can’t be done.

Also…wtf? How lazy can you get? WRITE A NEW DAMNED SONG.

Oh, they’ll stick Michael on at the very end for emotional impact.

It’s a great and seemingly heart felt idea, but it won’t be the same without MJ.

  25. 25
    Narelle Says:

Leave a GREAT song alone!! It will never be the same without Micheal! If the singers they want to participate in this had any talent, they could write a song of their own. Don’t mess with the KING OF POP!!! No-one can come close to his genius
