Emma Watson: New Eco-Friendly Clothing Collection!

Emma Watson: New Eco-Friendly Clothing Collection!

Check out this first shot of Emma Watson in swag from her new collection for fair-trade fashion label People Tree!

The 19-year-old actress (and face of Burberry!) served as a creative advisor for People Tree and put together a collection of knitwear with cotton shirts, jersey dresses and shorts.

“I wanted to help People Tree produce a younger range because I was excited by the idea of using fashion as a tool to help alleviate poverty,” Emma said (via People). “I think young people like me are becoming increasingly aware of the humanitarian and environmental issues surrounding fast fashion.”

The line will benefit the People Tree Foundation, supporting fair-trade farmers in developing countries, and will ship to the US starting this week!

She is very articulate and beautiful, and I think a refreshing young face to have in Hollywood amongst the sea of “it-girl” brats.

i really like emma, she is so talentet and focused. not at all like some of the girls in hollywood who party and get drunk all the time unlike them, emma’s parents raised their daughter to have good values.

I like the idea how she’s doing fashion for the cause and actually not attempting to act so posh perfect. She’s just being herself, and that’s what I like about her as a person- not an actress or celebrity.

Is she not supposed to be a fulltime student now at Brown or something? However does she find time to do all these fashion business?

I like emma watson, but didnt she say something awhile back about how she wasnt the kind of person to have her own clothing line and how she wasnt one of those celebrities that makes themselves a brand………..and what did she do? just that lol…i still love her though and if it was me i would probably do the same but…she kinda sold out.

@meowtime: Well, yes and no. In the rest of the interview, she said that she didn’t want this to be an “Emma Watson Collection” or something like that. She supports the ideals of People Tree which is being eco-friendly and fair-trade. And of course, people knowing that Emma Watson has something to do with this is just an added incentive for people to buy the stuff.

Emma DID say she doesn’t want to do a fashion line, but not for her own ego. But, she did say she would for charity. It’s not like she’s a true fashion designer, she doesn’t make the clothes, she just gives them her opinion and some of her own artwork is shown. I support what she’s doing too. Eco-friendly clothing for a fair price. When they ship to the US, I am getting a shirt or 2. I love the designs and I love the style.

I like her values – I really do! And she’s got that timeless english beauty look going on there, lucky thing. Flawless skin. It’s really nice to see an inspiring and talented young actress who thinks about the origins of what she’s wearing and how it affects others. Refreshingly different from the industry’s usual parade of vacant-faced it girls.

Gorgeous. Love that photo. Anyone knows where the other photos are?

@chaos:

She did it the summer before last. They did the photo shoot sometime this past summer before she started Brown.
