John Mayer opens up to Playboy in its March issue (on newsstands Friday, February 12), speaking about his exes and being hesitant about new relationships.
On rumors that his song “Heartbreak Warrior” is about Jennifer Aniston: “I want to go on record saying it’s not. That woman would never use heartbreak warfare. That woman was the most communicative, sweetest, kindest person.”
On Jessica Simpson: “That girl, for me, is a drug. And drugs aren’t good for you if you do lots of them. Yeah, that girl is like crack cocaine to me. Sexually it was crazy. That’s all I’ll say. It was like napalm, sexual napalm.”
On being hesitant to start new relationships: “I hate being the heartbreaker. Hate it. If I date somebody and it doesn’t work out, it’s another nightmare for me. I don’t equate sex with release, I equate it with tension. Somewhere in my brain it has probably really f—ed me up.”
On the rumor of his Twitter-related breakup: “There was a rumor that I’d been dumped because I was tweeting too much. That wasn’t it, but that was a big difference. The brunt of [Jennifer Aniston's] success came before TMZ and Twitter. I think she’s still hoping it goes back to 1998. She saw my involvement in technology as courting distraction. I read a while ago where some gossip “journalist” said Jennifer was Asexual. I tend to believe that. Jennifer, while she always had a nice body, and did the best she could with that unfortunate face of hers, has never exuded much sex appeal. I never got any sexual vibes from her at all.
