OlderKate Winslet: New Miniseries On HBO!
Kate Winslet will star in Mildred Pierce, a five-hour miniseries on HBO!
The 34-year-old actress will star as the title character, a single mother in middle-class Los Angeles during the Great Depression who is trying to earn her daughter’s love. Casting is currently under way for the other roles, according to THR.
Production is set to begin in April in New York, and Todd Haynes (I’m Not There) is directing.

Wow, things must really be tough for Kate!! I know she can’t open a movie and just about every movie she has made has been a bomb but, really, I’m surprised she’s doing a TV mini series!! The woman is only in her 30′s and she is playing a mother in a mini series on cable!! Hollywood is a tough place, boys and girls!!

Kate Winslet is really a talented actress, i would watch everything of her. To play in a mini series that have a good story is better than to do a bad Hollywood movie that nobody would watch!
She is one of the best actresses in Hollywood-History. Kate always chooses the right characters, so that miniserie must have a good story! It’s nice to see her on TV, not have to go to the theatre. You can make a nice evening at home and enjoying her talent.Love Kate!

mslewis, HBO TV mini series are HUGE. Just look at Angels in America (Meryl Streep, Al Pacino, Emma Thompson), John Adams. Big names and prety much all leading actors for these series received Golden Globes, Emmy’s and SAG awards.
Kate’s movies have never really bombed, because she doesn’t do huge budget movies. They pretty much always earn their money back.
Love Kate Winslet, that miniseries must be very good and she will show her talent once again – she is on of the best actresses in this Planet!

Her job is to show her talent and in big Hollywood movies is more animation than real acting talent!
KATE WINSLET IS THE BEST ACTRESS IN HOLLYWOOD. PERIOD.
She picks only one or two roles…but the ones she picks are magic. Almost everything she is in, she has been nominated. She doesn’t star in big budget films (except Titanic), but the ones she stars in always make there money.
Most great stars due mini-series on HBO.

She and Meryl Streep are great actresses. Their movies are historic and can be watched in anytime. They will never disappear!
Do they have to remake everything? Mildred Pierce is a classic Joan Crawford film…I really don’t see the need for all these remakes of already fantastic films…

I just wish Hollywood would get some original ideas and stop pulling films out of the vault and redoing them…some films are good in their original form and do not need modern Hollywood to revamp them…

I think they should cast Emma Watson as the oldest daughter Veda (she has an uncanny resemblance to Kate Winslet) and Elle Fanning or an unknown as the younger daughter depending on their ages.

That story seems to be very interesting and Kate Winslet is perfect for that part. She has the talent to play difficult characters!

I don’t like that movie in original, their acting skills a that time was not very emotional. I think with Kate Winslet that movie will get more alive. I’m sure the new version will be 100% better than the older one.

Your comment is ridiculous. How does my criticism of Hollywood lead to jealousy? I just find all the remakes unnecessary. Like I said, I am a huge Kate Winslet fan and I am sure she will be fantastic (as she is in everything).
Kate Winslet is a wonderful actress, I think it´s great that she will do a HBO-series! What´s the problem, lots of big actors and actresses do TV nowadays! I suppose Kate is an intelligent woman, and chooses the projects she finds most interesting.

She’s such a great actress this is exciting news for her fans! Lots of successful movie stars have done HBO specials – did you not see all the stars in Angels in America? Any actor would be honored to do something with them – they’re known for their quality shows.

WOW — great role for a great actress.
Can’t understand why some people are so ignorant as to say she makes bombs. She makes FANTASTIC movies, well-written, and veyr well-directed movies. Not everything has to ahve explosions and appeal to the lowest common denominator. In fact, just because something makes money, it can still be a FLOP — unsuccessful storyline unfortunately made.
SO GLAD that the miniseries is coming back with big budgets! BBC does them all the time, and you can really tell a story well this way.
She’s like Leo – she makes MOVIES with actual stories. She’s a true ACTRESS who values her craft. If her movies didn’t make any money they wouldn’t get made and we wouldn’t see her around. Her movies are meant for viewers who want to see a well told story, not a bunch of special effects with no storyline.
