What the hell kind of name is “Krishna”? Isn’t that a God’s name in India? Why would she name her kid that? I wish people would start thinking about their poor kids when they get a little older and are stuck with these wierd names, what it does to them as they grow up!

@Reta:

Your ignorance is delightful. In India, naming your children after gods is a common practice and Krishna is a very popular name for boys. And just because Krishna isn’t YOUR idea of a good name ( it’s probably John, Bob, whatever) doesn’t mean it’s weird. Maybe you should make yourself a bit more informed before making those kinds of comments, okay?

@Reta: Reta, it’s not that complicated. Krishna is a popular Hindu girl’s name (yes, from Lord Krishna, who by the bye is considered by many Hindu traditions as not only “a god” but as the Supreme Being) — at any rate, not so different from being named “Eve” or “Mary” in the Anglo tradition. Not everybody lives in a monoculture; try to poke your nose out and look around once in a while.

Congratulations to Padma and the new baby!
