It mimics the small pox infested blankets the colonizers gave out to Natives in order to kill them off. Not to mention the 2010 Olympics are being held on sovereign land that had never been relinquished to Canada in the first place.I should also mention that the the numerous low income, poverty stricken and homeless individuals living in the city have been ostracized and basically forced out of their community because of this spectacle.

then there’s the side benefit; people will come back to vancouver on holiday again in the future. which means more money for your hotels, resturants, and stores. and let’s face it, in this troubled economy a city like vancouver needs all the tourist dollars it can get.

The print on her jacket is very, very old. The Hudson Bay Company started in the mid to late 1600′s. Wonderful blankets and other items. It is still in operation today.

did you know that a large portion of these hotel rooms were once occupied by low income residents who were EVICTED from their homes so that they could be converted into modern suites that you and other tourists can occupy? or that OUR tax dollars helped fund putting these people on the streets instead of putting that money into educational and social programs. Sorry If I am more interested in educating the minds and feeding the mouths of my fellow citizens instead of wasting millions of dollars on something that will be forgotten about next week when you are on your flight back to wherever you came from.

well, obviously a good majority of your fellow citizens in vancouver don’t seem to agree with you. from what i can see, they are too busy raking in the money and having a good time in the process. whether you like it or not, there is money to be made and they are taking advantage of it. canada is a democracy last time i checked, i think it’s pretty obvious that a majority don’t agree with you. they wanted the olympics and they got them.
as for where you’re coming from, i showed your posts to several people living here in vancouver. their comments were not exactly very nice. oh well, enough of this. i’ve got to the go to hockey game; finland vs czech republic.

His brother is probably in LA thinking about picking up garbage from the street. Bad boy, could not really call him a man after what he did. Plus he has not lived in Canada for years.
His father is probably not welcomed and due to divorce is probably trying to hook up with someone half his age.

Hayden looks worse every year. Uglier and uglier. Never had any talent anyway. She looks short and pregnant. Those two deserve each other. Happy that they’re together and getting all the freebies they can possibly get from the stores that cater to the Olympics (Hayden never actually handed over money for anything he has in those bags. She didn’t either. All comps. They are freeloading just like they did in Paris (all the free Lacoste) and like she does in LA all the time (getting stores to give her free stuff.)

Honestly, Rachel fans, are you happy with where her career is at? Admit it, many of you who were her fans way back from her OC days were hoping that she would amount to something much better than this. She gets press for her clothes, for who she’s dating, and next to nothing for her acting. And when the critics review her acting, the results are horrendous(see Jumper and NY I Love You.) I suspect that Waiting for Forever will not boost her acting stock either.
Seriously, are you proud of what she’s become? And she doesn’t seem to be making any effort to try to become a better actress.

When you are a fan of someone you like them for who they are. Unless they are some kind of criminal, you follow their career whatever it is. It’s not up to me what kind of careers they have. I just like them as is. And that doesn’t include gossip and accusations for me as a fan. Those kind of things are like whispers in the wind.
My world doesn’t revolve around them so I’m not blindly following anyone. Everyone is human. Everyone makes mistakes. Everyone just keeps trying. If I am a fan of someone, I live and let live.
That said I don’t consider Hayden or Rachel failures by any stretch of the imagination.

They’re not, in any way, successes, either. Rachel Bilson’s career has consistently failed to ignite since leaving the OC, and that’s par for course for a lot of TV starlets who try to make a move into films. They make a few low achieving, cutsie pie ‘popcorn sellers’ then either return to the small screen if they can, or fade into obscurity. Her fiance’s career is littered with more duds than successes. His career is slumping and he has little talent. He’s not handsome enough to get by on looks alone and, after SW, his career could hardly be described as dynamic.
Unless a miracle happens, in five years time these two won’t even cause a small blip on the pap radar.
That’s not success.
However they’ve made more money than most average joes…but money isn’t actually such a great indicator of success, more luck involved than honest-to-goodness success.
Just a not-quite handsome guy with his not-quite beautiful girl, average in looks, below average in talent, out shopping.

@ Lana – please sweetie let me help you. If you’re going to accuse me of being jealous of someone they MUST be successful. The reason someone is jealous is b/c someone has something someone else wants – like in that magazine interview where Rachel complained about losing roles to actors like Natalie Portman and Kristen Dunst – THAT is jealous. She wants those roles but more talented actors got them.

If I’m going to be jealous of someone it will have to be someone like Kate Winslet – she’s beautiful, talented and she’s got an Oscar. Or since I don’t want to be a actor maybe someone like Alicia Keys who’s beautiful and very talented and she’s got all those Grammy’s and other awards. Maybe Fergie – she’s cute and girlfriend can sing and her hubby’s a cutie! Even Kim Kardashian – this girl is gorgeous and she’s a media mogul. She’s everywhere and she’s earning tons of money of adoring fans…and her man is pretty hot and successful too!

Again, no one is stopping Rachel’s fans from creating a fan site. I’m sure she’d appreciate knowing she has some fans left! But what is interesting is that you FANS don’t seem to post in threads about anyone but Rachel. Do you not like ANY of the other actors/celebs on this board??

@lana: Jealous of what – I don’t want her looks (she’s too short and too white) – I don’t want her fiance (he’s not good-looking and, again, too white) – I don’t need her money ( two salaries are plenty in our household and where I live is pretty cheap – I have a beach, palm trees, a little back land with a lipstick tree and edible fruit trees – and only the tourists get conned :) ) I don’t shop (boring) and don’t even own a handbag (why would a woman want one?). There is nothing that Rachel Bilson has that I would need or want. She can have my lipstick tree if she wishes. I just find the utter vacuousness of her life and existence completely baffling. She is nothing of nothing and does nothing yet people feel that all this nothing is just cause in making her a celebrity.
Rachel’s hair looks like limp dried out crap. Go back to the lush, full, dark hair! Her face looks wonky too. The jacket is hideous!
Usually Rachel is a beauty but this look is NOT good for her.
