Zac Efron flips cancer the bird in support of Stupid Cancer, a movement that connects young adults afflicted with cancer and helps them form communities of support.
The 22-year-old actor wore a Stupid Cancer wristband to benefit young cancer survivors in this photo with his cousin and cancer survivor Emily Hobson.

It’s about encourage cancer patients to keep on fighting and not let the disease stop you from enjoying your life. Having a positive attitude while going through treatment is hard, but it does help.

This is a Fantastic way to get to kids, Tell them it’s ok to be angry and FIGHT the HELL out of this stupid disease with all you got and be a team suport!!

@andrea @katha The photo is real. I am a survivor and volunteer for this organization. Unless you’ve been through it yourself, you will never understand what it means to be young with cancer. Emily is Zac’s first cousin and she’s in treatment right now. Has anyone gone to the actual website – http://stupidcancer.com – to get educated about why this is important and not a frivolous pander?

I can’t say I’m a fan of trying to teach a child to say “f*ck you” but I am in favor of teaching a kid not to give up and fight with everything you got in you and be angry at whatever is trying to defeat you.
I had no idea this was Zac’s cousin. I’m sure it just makes him more dedicated to the cause and that he is not just doing it because he feels he has to. Obviously he feels very passionate about it. Good for him. I wish all the best for Emily.

THERE IS NO RIDICULOUS WAY TO FIGHT CANCER. If someone can come up with a way to fight cancer, than more power to them. I lost both of my parents to cancer in 2008 within 8 months of each other. It is not only devastating for the patients but very hard on the families also.
True, there is no ridiculous way to raise money to fight cancer. And 100% of the money from these bracelets goes toward fighting cancer. I think it’s awesome that Zac can bring this wonderful organization to the attention of everyone who might not be aware of it.

Zac appears to support a number of good causes, but this must be close to his heart, if Emily is his cousin. Emily and others like her are great role models for young cancer sufferers. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with others in the same boat, and to know that you’re not alone. Thanks Zac for bringing it to our attention.
Zac is incredibly passionate about this. Emily *is* his 1st cousin. You can bet you bottom dollar he will be doing everything within his power to help the Stupid Cancer folks raise as much money as possible. I see the latest rumor is that Zac’s pool overflowed and he was washed into the Pacific Ocean, attacked by a shark and swam all the way to Catalina, pulling a boat behind him. What a guy!!! :)
The following link has my favorite story about the pool incident. Notice how it talks about how he shelled out $1M on his “new APARTMENT” but goes on to say his infinity pool overflowed as if you would have your own pool with an apartment. It talks about his MANSION—as if an apartment is a mansion—and also how he lost his garden… Whoever was writing this little news item didn’t seem to have any idea what he was talking about. But then again, I read one new blip that said he just shelled out $1M for a modest ONE bedroom apartment and yet he was suppose to have his own pool… Now I don’t know but all this was suppose to have happened Friday night according to some one another website but I either got this news from Yahoo Alerts on FRIDAY or Saturday by 10AM—either way it seems pretty quick to get this out in the news. The poor guy didn’t even get back from vacation until Wednesday, I think.

BTW, isn’t this old news? Didn’t this happen right after he got his house? There was something that went wrong and he had to have someone come to do somthing. I remember reading about SOMETHING last year.

He had a sprinkler that didn’t work and tried to fix it. But his “fix” resulted in the yard being flooded, so he had to get someone to fix the sprinkler in the end anyway. But, he told that story a few months after he got his house.
I never actually saw the National Enquirer story, though other tabloids are quoting it. But, I really don’t see a $2.3 million house having a pool that doesn’t have a very good overflow drains unless they got plugged. Besides, weren’t the “torrential” rains back mid-January, mostly in the foothills?

Yes, you have to skip over a lot of the interview to get to the part about Zac but it is a wonderful interview. It would seem that people see Zac as quite intelligent and hard working—as well as good looking. LOL I really love to hear all these things about him from others. Thanks for posting it, Malia.
