Bret Michaels Talks 'Nothin' To Lose' Controversy

Bret Michaels says his new song featuring Miley Cyrus, “Nothin’ To Lose,” is nothing to get defensive about.

The 46-year-old Poison rocker told Us Weekly that he wrote the song “a couple years ago” for a solo performance and that Miley was excited to record harmonies to his song.

Us Weekly pointed out that the lyrics to the song could be construed as inappropriate: “We both know better than this/Still we can’t resist/Slowly get undressed” while over the chorus, they both sing “Won’t you fall down on me/So close I can feel you breathe.”

“It’s blown out of proportion,” Bret said. “I just thought it was a beautiful song.”

He look like he could be her father

  • Carrie

He might think it’s being blown out of proportion, but he is still 46 and she’s 17 … of course it will raise eyebrows.

  • tom

Whoever, your comment is pretty stupid. He is 46, which is more then old enough to be her father.

  • Kaitlin

I agree with Carrie & Tom. It will raise eyebrows. She is way too young and he is too old. Someone should seriously watch this girl. I know she doesn’t want to be so innocent because of the whole ‘Disney’ thing. But, that surely doesn’t mean she can go prancing around like a slut. Children still look up to her, whether she likes it or not. It’s just wrong. And this is just adding to the list of the wrong stuff. Bret Michaels should know better too.

  • mememe

yet more evidence that she is just another trashy underage uuhore! She makes Britney look like a goody-two-shoes nun in comparison

  • Katie

It doesn’t matter who she sings this with, its not an appropriate song for her to sing at 16/17. She chose to have the Disney career which means that little kids are going to be looking up to you. She still has a couple of years to go before she needs to try to break the image. Everyone grows up, but she isn’t grown up quite yet.

The lyrics basically stink more than anything else.
I believe Bret has a couple of daughters of his own.

Miley already has a boyfriend more her age. I really don’t think Bret Michaels would do anything, lest he want to lose his life. Seriously, I don’t….17? Give Bret some credit, at some point–the man did grow up and with daughters of his own, I hope he is kind to Miley, she could use it, with the way people treat her these days.
Amazing how that happened when whatshernamecantsing came along, daddypayforthattoo?

he’s a LOSER , he’s rubbing on Miley’s name 4 publicity , no one cares about him anymore what a LOSER!!!!!!!!!!

    creepy pedo song

Creepy song by a creepy plastic surgery ridden over the hill bald bastard.

  • Sara

Since when were song lyrics only allowed to be autobiographical? While neither Bret nor Miley sing the kind of music I listen to, I see nothing wrong with artistic expression. Not quite sure why everyone else does…

  • jenifer

    The song is amazing!!

ew both of them and @Katie: i totally agree with you

  • slambang

Carrie #2 – I completely agree. It’s because of their age difference that the song is creepy and inappropriate. I can’t believe Miley’s parents let her record that with Bret – but, then again, they’ve been p1mping her out her whole young life.

The lyrics of this song are very unappropriate for a 17 year old to sing. However, if Bret’s intention was to sing this song w/ a 17 year old…at least find someone who can sing!

Actually, for the hillbilly set, he’s plenty old enough to be her grandfather. And they certainly seem to be cut from that cloth, so maybe love is in the air and who are we to judge?

  • CM

Miley’s daddy is a one hit wonder from WVA who was poking EVERYTHING that moved from waitresses to ….. in his day. What do you expect from the progeny of this red-neck trash who pimps his own kids?

  • Ginger

I have to say he could’ve asked a MUCH OLDER woman over 19 to sing the song. Why does he have to ask a teenager to sing one of his songs about getting UNDRESS!???!?! HELLO?!?!?!?

  • graybeard

    what a lucky guy

  • http://dlisted.com lakers fan in boston

who cares about those 2 losers
they probably made the song in purpose 2 get a lil publicity, especially him
i feel bad for whoever wasted their time listening to that song

  • Jokergurl

Recording those kind of lyrics at 16 or 17 is just inappropriate anyway, given it’s with Bret Michaels the Rock of Love man himself and he’s old enough to be her father is just a bit odd to me. Miley stop trying to act like your in your 30′s and just enjoy being a multi- million dollar teenager.

  • Pam

You people are absolutely ridiculous. This man is an icon of music, he’s been around forever, it’s a song, quit reading into, she wanted to sing it, it’s a song, song, remember music, you’re in a studio filled with tons of people surrounding you with headphones on and you usually aren’t there at the same time even if it is a duet. Geez, people get a grip and grow up yourselves.
