OlderSam Worthington is Dan Dare's Pilot of the Future?
Sam Worthington heads to a business meeting while chatting on the phone on a sunny Friday (March 12) in Beverly Hills, Calif.
The 33-year-old Aussie actor has reportedly signed on to play the lead in the comic book adaptation of Dan Dare: Pilot of the Future.
Pajiba describes Sam‘s character as a space adventurer/pilot and the “chief pilot of the Interplanet Space Fleet.” No writer or director is yet on board.

But they promotion for Clash of the Titans is horrible. It doesn’t convey what the movie is about. All you see is Sam yelling and CGI monsters. Terrible, TERRIBLE, ad campaign!

How lazy are the casting directors these days? Dan Dare is supposed to be from Manchester and his side-kick Digby is from Lancashire. For this film to succeed, a top-notch director is needed, preferably someone British with a feel for Frank Hampson’s wonderful creation. Maybe Ridley Scott or Danny Boyle. I’ve always thought that Peter O’Toole’s features in Laurence Of Arabia would have been perfect for Dan Dare. The actor Hugh Lloyd would have been great for Digby too. This will be a missed opportunity without the proper look and feel of the late 50s artwork and design aesthetic. The Dan Dare Corporation’s animated series got some things right, but the main characters were ruined. Will Frank Hampson’s family get any of the royalties? This would be the biggest shame if they were ignored.
