OlderKate Winslet Splits with Sam Mendes
Kate Winslet and her husband of nearly seven years, director Sam Mendes, have split.
“Kate and Sam are saddened to announce that they separated earlier this year,” their lawyers said in a statement (via People). “The split is entirely amicable and is by mutual agreement. Both parties are fully committed to the future joint parenting of their children.”
The couple married in 2003 and have a six-year-old son, Joe, together. Kate also has a nine-year-old daughter, Mia, from a previous marriage.

That is horrible, specially when kids are involved, but at least both have enough class to do it in a civil manner, which is great.

That did come out of nowhere. I’d be lying if I said the Leo/Kate thing never crossed my mind—especially when Kate was winning all of those awards last year and thanked Leo more heartily than she did Sam.
This is shocking and so sad. I was hoping their marriage is one of those Golden Hollywood marriages.
that’s sad…but then again, maybe her and leo will finally get together? It’s like a twisted love story. Like kate and leo were meant to be together but he was with gisele and she was married. Now that gisele is married with her child, he’s been seen with bar…who’s pretty young. He hasn’t shown the desire to get married nor to anyone in particular. And unfortunately, kate split fr. her husband….maybe he’ll be the best friend he is and be there for her and her kids.
I’ve never followed news about this couple very closely, but I I thought this marriage was solid. Sorry to hear about this split.

“so unexpected”–thats because they aren’t in the tabloids everyday screaming SPLIT. None of us know what really goes on in anyones relationship other than our own.
Too bad that their marriage didnt last. Maybe they learned something from the flim they did together. Good luck to them both.

I always thought Kate’s real love was Leo, she never got over her crush for him and that probably kept her from loving her husbands completely. Maybe they will have their chance but I also think Leo feels more brotherly love for her, not that kind of attraction, her thing is probably one sided. Anyway I guess we will see.
Watch how elegantly she will behave – unlike Jennifer Aniston who used her divorce to promote her movies.
I wasn’t expecting this. I feel bad for the kids. @ Chel, I did notice her thanks to Leo seemed more emotional than her thanks to her husband too.

WOW, that’s a surprise! They seemed so happy… I remember how in love they looked at the Academy Awards when she won best actress.
