Poor Jennifer Aniston can’t even beat the “Wimpy Kid” – and certainly not “Alice.”

Aniston’s “Bounty Hunter” took third place at the box office over the weekend, earning $21 million for a heavily advertised flick that co-starred hunky Gerard Butler as her ex-husband.

Tim Burton’s take on Alice in Wonderland remained number one for the third weekend, earning $34.5 million – but it was the movie that came in second that put Aniston to shame.

“Diary of a Wimpy Kid,” which cost $15 million to make, earned $21.8 million and had no big names. Aniston’s movie, which follows a bounty hunter chasing his reporter ex-wife, cost more than $40 million.

That “Alice” would stay No. 1 was less of a surprise than the draw of “Wimpy Kid,” which tells the tale of a sixth grader maneuvering through the social challenges of middle school, including the “cheese touch” – a version of the old “cooties” game.

“I think cheese touch equals magic touch at the box office,” said Chris Aronson, head of distribution at 20th Century Fox.

While not exactly box-office poison, Aniston has had a string of hit-and-miss openings in recent years – more miss than hit.

Even in her biggest box office showing, “Marley and Me”, which opened Christmas Day, 2008, Aniston and co-star Owen Wilson were outshone by dog star power.

Her leading men may also help boost her box office successes.

“The Break Up,” which came right after her real-life break up with Brad Pitt – and her off-screen romance with co-star Vince Vaughn – hit the top of the charts in 2006 as fans flocked to see them together.

Next Valentine’s Day in 2011, she’ll have another pairing with a leading man who has proven he’s box office gold – Adam Sandler – in “The Pretend Wife.”

Aniston’s next big opening is due in August. Called “The Switch,” film is about a woman who undergoes artificial insemination only to learn years later that a male pal switched his sperm with that of her anonymous donor, reports IMDB.

BUT having the government tell these people who have NO health insurance and cannot afford any surgery what sort of surgery they can have sure beats teh HELL out of NOT HAVING ANY surgery at all when you need it.
    .
    STOP fear mongering.
    .
In countries such as Australia, UK and Europe, we have BETTER health care OUTCOMES for the % of National GDP we spend on our healthcare than the whole of the US. Just a fact. Check it out if you aren’t so busy being stupid about the JPs.
    .
AMERICAN uninsured die of preventable illnesses because they can’t afford the check up and they can’t afford the premiums or the health care costs. In fact a couple of years ago, PEOPLE magazine featured a story of this self employed man who had INSUFFICIENT healthcare insurance and had to resort to GOING to INDIA for his heart bypass – and there was NO choices for him. NONE. His American doctors said he was going to die because all 4 arteries were BLOCKED. But he could not operate in America because he was only about 50 years of age and had insufficient medical insurance being self employed.
    .
I assure you, in the circumstances described by People mag about that chap, in Australia, UK, Europe, Canada, Singapore, NZ, he would have got the bypass without having to travel to India on his own and hope to god that he’ll survive the operation far from his family and friends.

Why are some posters so concerned if they did or did not visit Depp. WGAF,, really THEY WENT SOME PLACE WITH THE KIDS. THERE.

Sometimes it is just beyond dumb that people get pissy with Brad/Angie because of a story written on a blog. As if they came out and screamed HEY we are going to visit Johnny at his home.

    Man just so dumb.

I hope Brad goes to the KickAss premier.. I want to see him there. If Angie is not filming today he may go.

Great to see this family together visitng Johnny Depp in Venice. Brad was meant to be a father. He loves all his children and their mother a lot. He certainly doesn´t miss his life before Angie and the children at all. Angie is really beautiful in these pics. She has this natural beauty and her daughters (Shiloh & Vivienne) seem to have inherited that. Zahara is also a very beautiful little girl. This family is so down-to-earth. Great to see them enjoying their time in Venice.

‘The blood on the chain thing’.
I laugh everytime I see this referenced. I even butted in on a conversation I overheard about this.

It was a dried flower pressed with a smidgeon of blood worn in a locket. Many people choose to wear great big globs of metal around their neck because other people have decided its value. Because the other people decided this value everyone else follows. Some people aren’t followers and they make up their own rules. Some people view blood as the lifeforce of the one they love as being more precious to them than gold. It was imaginative and romantic in a highly uniquely individual way. However, if you glean all your information from tabloids are devoid of imagination lack individuality and your concept of romance is buying or being given a box of chocolates then of course you will see it as ‘a wack job’ as you so put it.

As a parent who has had to pay out of pocket for medications, or procedures that were refused by my insurance, I do not mind paying the extra taxes to ensure that the ridiculously rising health care costs are controlled in this country.

Other countries with universal health care, properly managed meet the objectives stated in this article, They have lower crime rates, lower child neglect, lower health costs for medical conditions that end up resulting in death because they were never properly tested for or treated, Better mental health care plans.

    Well you get the picture.

This country is supposed to be based on the needs of the people, by the people and for the people…….not just the corporatioans, insurance companies and doctors.

Access to health care can only create a more productive society.

I believe everyone should have good education and healthcare. The question is how to pay for it.

Lylian, remember during the election period, you made a big deal about deficit, and even posted your calculation. Are we gonna see a post from you about how this healthcare reform bill will affect our budget?

You know…Bountiless opened to $8mil in 8 foreign markets. However – most of that came from only 2 or about 4 foreign markets where X’s movies play well – Russia and the UK. When she finally got a distributor for misManagement one of the first markets they secured was Russia…followed by a few of the former Soviet bloc countries – Slovenia & Khazakstan. Khazakstan? All I could think about was Borat and Rachel having babies. She couldn’t secure a distributor for the U.S. market…but Russia and Khazakstan wanted her movie? Amazing.
    .
If you go over to BOM and look at the foreign numbers for X’s solo duds the only other countries they’ve played well in are Germany (cuz they’re drunk on beer) and sometimes Australia (cuz they’re drunk on beer, too.). Occasionally Italy, Spain or France MAY have a good showing, but otherwise there’s just not a whole lot of love for Rachel Green or her movies around the old blue planet.

All I have to say is Thank God HEALTH CARE REFORM has finally been passed in this country. It’s not the best, YET, but it’s a step in the right direction. I have a friend who lost her job in 2002, just after 9/11. It was quite well paid, and although the cost of her insurance kept going up, she could afford to keep it. She now has a job that pays her at least $15,000 less that what she was previously making, she hasn’t had an increase in salary in over 3 years, and cannot afford the medical insurance offered on her job, because it is ridiculously expensive. And did I mention she has chronic asthma. She said the majority of employees on her job also do not have insurance.

This is happening all over this country, and it disproportionally affects minorities and the poorest among us. When I saw some of the anti health care demonstrations, and the anger displayed, I know this is not the America the Founding Fathers had in mind. Everyone is entitled to adequate healthcare. It’s the decent thing to do.

Regarding “rachel from friends”: TBH got 20M thats pretty good for her.. so glad that she did that well, now she can go secure some other romcoms to extend her shelf life.. and we can continue to enjoy her vanity.. “Helping people in mexico”, “high heels hurt”, “thinking thoughts”.. and whatever gems she churns out.. Meanwhile, Sony must be counting days for the release of SALT.. yes, the kickass movie of the summer starring THE JOLIE..

Young females, most of all, should support this health care bill or young men trying to go to college on part time jobs with parents with no coverage. Trust me, the swine flu or simple female problems, lump on the breast at an young age, broken ankle…..there are a lot of kids, 19-26 with no health care insurance. Not to mention, the age 45+ workers laid off from jobs or had to accept another job without benefits. I hope people filled out their 2010 Census correctly and honestly without pride. Congress and the MEDIA may be in for a shock but it is up to the people to be honest.

You know how many people die or do not even go to the doctor because they don’t have health ins.? Why are the health insurance companies turning such profits?

Okay…the pix of Shiloh are cracking me up. It’s official for me – Shiloh is definitely emulating Maddox while channeling a little Brad with her style elements. How hilarious. I remember in the twins Peeps pix there was one of Shiloh sitting on Madd’s lap clowning around with him when the pic was snapped.

ROTFLMAO how NOW all of these people are saying what I’VE been saying for over 5 YEARS. All those pity parties and all that whining has led to this. People want X to STFU and do some decent work ON HER OWN or bow out gracefully and admit she just doesn’t have what it takes to be THE STAR of a movie. When you can’t even outshine 22 REAL dogs? That’s when you should know your shite stinks and you need to admit you’ve failed. After all, this IS the ho who after seeing herself on the big screen while previewing Picture Perfct declared that her face was NOT meant to be magnified to 30+feet on the big screen. She knows she lacks screen presence, but she just keeps trying to outdo Brad and Angie. Idiot that she is.

Your post reminded me of when I was a kid and my parents didn’t have health insurance. When my father got a job that did provide insurance the premiums for the children weren’t that bad, but he was unable to afford the premium on my mother so she never had health insurance her entire life until she retired and Medicare kicked in. Even so, it’s spotty at best and until recently it didn’t have any prescription coverage. My mother’s 78 now and has all these ailments that had she had health insurance or could afford to see doctors they would be as severe now. Especially things with her arthritis, diabetes and high blood pressure. People who have insurance or can afford insurance have no idea of what people who don’t have it and can’t afford have to put up physically simply because they’re poor. And even with Medicare there are some things my mother still can’t get done. Like a few years ago she had a gallstone attack. Because she passed the stone Medicare wouldn’t pay for her to have her gallbladder removed. So she still has a gallbladder with stones in it. If she starts passing a stone again THEN they’ll pay to remove the gallbladder – otherwise she’s SOL. This has been going on for over 6 years now. Now she’s 78 and in much worse health than 6 years ago which makes surgery that much riskier. BUT…some folks say we don’t need healthcare reform.
