Ricky Martin Doing 'Great' After Coming Out

Ricky Martin Doing 'Great' After Coming Out

Yesterday afternoon, Ricky Martin publicly announced that he was gay and just a few hours ago, he updated his fans to let them know how he’s doing.

The 38-year-old singer tweeted the following message in both English and Spanish: “What’s going on gang? I’m doing great! Stronger than ever! I’m here relaxing at home enjoying your messages! I feel the love! Thanks for all! Peace.”

Great to hear that Ricky is doing so well! Yesterday, Ricky revealed his sexuality, saying, “I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man. I am very blessed to be who I am.”

“I respect someone like Ellen MUCH more who came out at the height of her sucess and show – and had to go through hell and ridicule and outrage and media stories claiming her gay would ruin her career forever, but she made it out and is much stronger for it.”

I AGREE with this a lot. Why did Ricky come out now of all times?

    COWARD Says:

@Henny: because he is writing his memoirs and not only has nothing to lose, but profits to gain. ********

    too little too late..
He should have come out during his LaVidaLoca days but he knew better. So he waits until he is old, fat and irrelevant. He could have made a statement. Coward

Right after I logged the above latino ****-banger post, I read that the latino who inspired the crazy 1980s Hot Tub Time Machine movie, ‘Stand and Deliver’ died Tuesday.

Everyone deals with personal issues in their own way. Kudos to him for beginning to live his life out and proud. He really looks better in that photo (if it’s recent) than he has in a long time.

Good job, amigo! The ones who have been your fans for any time at all love you regardless. It was a brave move to come out and share a big piece of your life with us. Your boys really have some big shoes to fill when they’re older and hopefully the times we live in then will be much different and more accepting of the lifestyle alternatives than what we live with now. Thank you for standing up for your choices.

Even after all the long years of speculation of his sexual orientation I still would have never believe he was gay until he said so himself.

I wonder what other actors are hiding in the closet and are too afraid to come out.

@queen: Old, FAT? have you seen this?

Let me tell you guys something: he is Puerto Rican i mean Latino, right? so when he says in his message on his website that a LOT of people would tell him if he came out he would destroy his career, that’s pretty much it. Here in Latin America people are not so open minded (not the America is…) about gay people and i understand as a gay guy the fear that he was going through and the pressure about his sexuality back in 1999, so now that he is comfortable with who he is as a person, as a man, and as a father why don’t you just celebrate with him? why so much hate?

I don’t get why people trash on others and make fun of them in something that is so important.

i’m not hi biggest fan but i do respect him for being real to himself, kudos for him, and his baby boys.

    toekneegee Says:

Why is it that all the good looking guys in showbiz are gay. If all gays are very good looking, is it safe to say that ugly men in the biz are always straight? Mario Lopez, I am sure is gay. Then, we are just waiting for Zac Efron to come out. Both Rock Hudson and Marlon Brando have made it with other guys.

There must still be a whole bunch of them needing to come out. The prettier the boy is, the greater their chances of being gay.

If it is okay to be gay, why are they having a hard time coming out and saying so?

It must be a lot more complicated than I thought. Seems like everyone in showbiz are. Even pretty women likes pretty women, too.

So, why is this hard to do?

    Timmy Says:

What do you mean by “announced that he WAS gay”? He no longer is? Or do you mean “announced that he IS gay”?
