Kirstie Alley is a Committed Scientologist

Kirstie Alley graces the cover of Ladies’ Home Journal‘s May 2010 issue, on newsstands Tuesday, April 13!

Here’s what the 59-year-old actress had to share:

On lying to herself about her weight: “When we get fat, we fool ourselves with every kind of lie imaginable. By 2008 my weight started creeping up and I said, ‘Oh, I still look good at 150. I still look good at 155. I still look okay at 165. Some of my clothes still fit at 175. ‘And nobody was saying ‘You’re fat.’ I was like a bank robber who was getting away with it.”

On the fun in getting fat: “On one hand it was the greatest thing in the world getting fat. Every meal out was an event. Or we’d go to Italy and we’d have pasta, truffles and dessert and then plan the next incredible meal. It was a happy-go-lucky time. I never had so much fun.”

On her love life: “Nonexistent. As I get older it’s harder to know what I would want in a relationship. I love spending time with my kids and my friends and my animals. I love traveling and working. The last thing I need to think about is some dude.”

On being a committed Scientologist: “Scientology helps you lose your insanities. One of the keys is to say, ‘You’re in charge of your life, buster. You’re responsible for any condition you’re in.’ If I look at it that way it helps. I’ve been irresponsible many, many, many times and that has resulted in me being fat.”

i LOVE her show

Thanks Photoshop!!!!

# 3

All her insanities went to her ass.

# 4

Um, if she’s gotten fat twice WHILE she was a practicing scientologist, shouldn’t she be looking for another way?

# 5

If you are in charge of your life then why when you want to leave the cult do they harass you trying to get you to stay, abuse you about it if you leave and declare you a suppressive person and not allowed to see friends/family etc that are still cult members?

I know what she means about the weight thing, you put on a couple of pounds and you try to ignore it cause it makes you feel better than knowing the truth.

What she means by “in charge of your life” is responsible for every misfortune, c.f. Just-world fallacy.

“Scientology helps you lose your insanities”. Nah. You’re just passing ‘em on to an institution who will manage them for you, program your mind, and take the big bucks you should’ve doled out to a shrink.

Photoshopping! Who needs plastique surgery? She’s looking great. I had no idea she was 59.

Why on earth have they photoshopped her to a 1/4 of the size she currently is?

I love her show but know that she is not the size that picture is portraying.

What is it with Scientology’s preoccupation with insanity? It’s creepy. OK, the world has troubles, but have they done any reading on L Ron Hubbard recently? Thanks for helping Kirstie stump for a creepy cult, Ladies Home Journal.

Pssst…You’re not in charge of your life…God is! The more you run from God, the one who truly loves you, the more of a mess your life will become. Food is filling that empty void! How is that working for you? Surrender!

say what you will, she is one of the most honest clebs out there. sad that she gets flack for speaking her mind.

i love her and love her show.

Idea:

Quit Scientology. Go to therapy. Lose the weight.

Remember when she was married to Parker Stevenson, she lost er husband bc he refused to be a Scientologist, then she lost her career too.

her whole career is her getting fat, losing weight and then getting fat again. pathetic.

She is really obnoxious, with that smirk of hers

That is why I can’t watch her show.

I don’t really care if she’s in the cult.
She used to be an actress. Now she’s a professional scientology celebrity. whoopeee

Woah, when Scientologists display their delusion, they really go all out…

The title above her picture is just funny to me, ” Kirstie Alley is a COMMITTED Scientologist,” anyone else think this is haha funny?

Yeah.. like the other ones are NOT COMITTED.. hahahaha
And it’s just rubbish what she is saying.. scientology makes you do nothing just pay them money and they tell you fairytales about life.. life is not what they say it is.. and in about 10 years they will all look back an say.. how stupid was I to believe in what every celeb does.. BELIEVE IN GOLDDIGGING STUPID ASSES

She sugar coats a CULT. Sick.

Scientology is just as much a cult as other religions. I do LOVE when she says she is responisble for being fat. She’s not saying she was unloved as a child or cheated on blah blah. She loves food. THAT IS HONEST.

John Davis @ 04/08/2010 at 12:14 am

She’s totally right about Scientology. It puts you back in the driving seat!

Good on you, Kirstie!

Yep, John Davis is Sapporo, Japan, and then right off a cliff.

I find the cruelty of some of the posters here to be utterly outrageous. Kirstie is an icon and a very funny woman and I just think it’s great she can look at herself so candidly and with such a sense of humor.

Sup Jeanne, I mean Jeanne Basson, OSA agent, you and John Davis have certainly “handled” this article.

she looks lovely :)
