Ewan McGregor & Jim Carrey's 'I Love You Phillip Morris' Postponed Indefinitely

Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor won’t be hitting the big screen in I Love You Phillip Morris for quite a while.

The film, which focuses on a con man and his cell mate who fall for each other after sharing a prison cell, debuted at Sundance in 2009 and was set to be released at the end of March, then April 30.

A spokeswoman for the film told the L.A. Times that the film has been delayed again but that there is no scheduled date for its release this time.

Ewan and Jim were named knights in the National Order of Arts and Letters in Paris in early February for their work. See their smooch here!

No surprise there, Hollywood is homophobic we all know that, but kudos to both of them for loving the project as much to comitt to it, even though they must have known it will be hard to get released.

it was probably really awful like most of jim carreys latest films. he needs to retire–and take Jennifer Aniston with him.

This movie was in theater here in France in january and it was good!

jim carrey shouldn’t be in the movie. it would be better with someone as hot as Ewan . Jude law should have played Jim’s part. hmmm

see now I’m thinking about Jude and ewan getting it on. I never want to see Jim doing it with a man or a woman

It came out over here in England last month, and I have to say it really surprised me as it was very funny, and Jim Carrey gave a fine performance. Even thought the film is offensive and represents gay men stereotypically, it is still very touching and charming, and I really urge you all to see it! :)

I saw it last month in the UK – it was good although some bits came across as very sterotypical although I belive that the two main characters were consulted during production, so that must be how they remember it – I was surprised to find out it was based on a true story and even took the time afterwards to look the two main charcters up on Wiki, to see what if anything had been left out of the film. Altogether it was an enjoyable 1.3/4 hours and I’ve certainly seen much worse films at the cinema which had about 100x the publicity that this one did.

Same sex kissing- it’s just nausiating to most people. Jim Carrey must be getting desperate to prove he is politically correct. I would not watch this. I would not watch it if someone gave me a free private jet to the Bahamas if I would watch it. That is my humble oppinion.

dammit I so want to see that movie. Has there been any reason given as to why its delayed?

This must really be one heck of a crappy movie because they shot this years ago. Who really wants to see two guy making out anyway? I agree that Hollywood pretends it’s so PC with the various gay organizations it backs and yet most actors will go to great lenghts to hide the fact that they are gay because they know the offers they’d get would dry right up. Having said that, if you know an actor is gay how can you watch them do a RomCom and buy it? The’d have to be terrific actors in order for you to forget the fact that they are gay.

It already came out in Italy!

It’s out in Sweden too. I haven’t seen it but my friends has and they say it’s hilarious.

It’s delayed because American homophobes are threatening a boycott against the studio.

Gutsy move by both of these guys though, but I doubt it will be as good as Brokeback Mountain, I think that was a groundbreaking film in a lot of ways. Plus whenever I see Jim Carrey I still think Fire Marshall Bill and Ace Ventura, even though he’s a good dramatic actor too, he’s just too damn funny though.

This film came out last month in the uk and i went to see it with friends, we all laughed the whole way through and both jim carrey and ewan mcgreggor gave brillient performances. Th estory line was good, the actors were great and it was a really good feel good movie and as a gay woman i felt totally comfortable and proud to watch this film

It’s ridiculous! It seems that the movie has already been released everywhere in Europe (I dont know about South America, Asia…) and it has been pretty well received.
Personnally i saw the movie (I live in France) and I really enjoyed it. Its not the best movie of the decade, but its funny, well directed, the actors are great, and the story is original…
If homophobic people dont agree with the movie, can’t they not see it, and let other people (more open minded) enjoyed it ?

hmmm, i’ve already seen it, but I live in the UK so……..

Ugh, this is so typical. I live in Europe and have already seen the film and it was really good.

When it comes to movies, I am glad I moved away from North America. It was always so difficult to find different and interesting films as well as foreign films in the local cinemas back home. It just seems unfair that N.America is burdened with mainly Hollywood blockbusters when loads of people would prefer to see interesting well acted-films…

f*cking homophobs……
