OlderAkon Misses the 'Old Christina Aguilera'
Singer/songwriter Akon is now weighing in on the comparisons between Christina Aguilera and Lady Gaga, who is signed to his Kon Live music label.
“Aw man, that’s not even any competition,” Akon tells Vibe. “You are actually giving Christina too much credit. She always had her cool little look and way about how she went about things. But soon as Gaga came out everything switched up. Christina stepped out of her own shell to become something different. And the crazy thing is Christina is really talented. She has unlimited range when it comes to singing. Her voice is out of here. I just think she just needs to believe in herself more. I think sometimes she gets insecure because of all of the success Gaga has had not realizing that she was already successful before Gaga came out.”
Akon continues, “Christina shouldn’t have anything to prove or anyone to compete with. I miss the old Christina Aguilera. I like the old one better than the new one. Honestly, Gaga and Christina could probably get together and do something that’s amazing. But that’s impossible if they are both trying to do the same exact thing musically.”

I’d actually have to agree with Akon on this one. Christina should be herself and not try to follow the latest trend. She has an amazing voice and electropop doesn’t showcase it as much as her old r&bpop songs did.
Thank you Akon. Akon took the words out of my mouth. Their is no comparison to Gaga and the other girl. Gaga took the game to another level because the music was Dead and the music videos were horrible. Their was no creativity or imagination in the music videos. Gaga, don’t stop. We need to dance not have doom and gloom music.
I don’t know who Akon is even though I have heard not do good things. But he is 10000% correct. What happened to the OLD Christina Aguilera? The woman that Mariah Carey used to get jealous of. She’s trying to compete with kESHA, GAGA, and even Britney Spears. We thought she was the new MC and Whitney Houston long time ago.

I think Christina is an amazing singer and person and she doesn’t need to be compared to anybody! She’s a true artist with an awesome voice!

He needs to shut his no-talent mouth. Lady Gaga didn’t invent dance music and Christina stated in 2007, before anyone had heard of Lady Gaga, that she was going in the direction she’s going in now. How quickly we forget and how easy it is to warp reality to suit our own personal bias.

My god he toke the words right out of my mouth…… Christina is a Legend already, while GaGa is a legend in the making, Christina has nothing to prove to ANYONE, she could whisper, hum, and yell an entire album and it would still go platinum….She needs to just rest on her morals and not try to fit in with the crowd…..Trends are just that trends, they eventually fade, while style remains, and thats exactly what the old christina had, STYLE and LOTS of it. It was effortless for her, now she seems to just be trying so hard!!!! I love xtina and GaGa, but i would take an Xtina album over GaGa any day……Christina and Britney were the first 2 albums i bought back in 3rd grade, i even sung Xtina’s song “i turn to you” at my moms 1st wedding…(yes she has since remarried twice, i know she’s a hoe….hahahaha!!!!)….BUT dont get me wrong im still a full blown LITTLE MONSTER…. but I kiss no ones ass if i dont like ur material GaGa im going to tell you……any way!!!!!!

Oryt. Here’s my thought. Christina shouldn’t be compared to Gaga because musically, Christina’s voice can soar to greater heights compared to that of Gaga. Gaga’s music is catchy, that I have to agree.
Christina’s not copying anyone or anybody. Before her Back to Basics tour was over, she already mentioned that she’s working on an album that is totally different from the usual music she sings. That was before Lady Gaga became popular. She’s always been very inventive, creative and is not afraid to try new things. She can’t be forever a pop singer. As an artist, she needs to get out of her comfort zone. The first single that she offered from her new album is just one of the many tracks. We can’t label or brand her just because of the first single. It’s a hit song anyway. There’s no Gaga element in Not Myself Tonight mind you. Christina and Gaga are two artists that shouldn’t be compared at all.
