Zoe Saldana shows off her gorgeous smile on the May 2010 cover of Self magazine.
Here’s what the 31-year-old actress had to share:
On her personal style: “‘Pretty’ is the last word you would think of. Look in my closet and you’ll see things that are elegant, sexy, tomboyish, sophisticated, beautiful, aggressive. It’s harsh. It’s a lot of black. I’ve never really been that feminine.”
On getting dressy for special occasions: “Sometimes you’re sexy confident or you’re aggressive confident. When I’m sexy confident, I always want to wear red pumps. The more disheveled they got, the more I loved them. My mom said, ‘Zoe, honestly, you can wear boots that are worn, but red heels? It just looks wrong.’ But I haven’t thrown them away yet. As long as I’m not out with my mom, I will wear them!”
On her style rule: “You should never feel as if you’re hiding. My stylist [chooses clothes that] complement my personality, my character.”

Hmmm. I think this is the first time I’ve seen a celeb on the cover of Self not wearing a bathing suit. I wonder why?

Geez, Zoe looks so damn much like one of my best friends….It’s incredible. Anyway, I think she’s a little bit too thin…I mean, she’s like just skin and bones. Way too skinny. But she’s undeniably beautiful. I’d love to look like her, she’s sooooo gorgeous!
this girl has been on just about every magazine cover in the past 3 months. she seems sweet and intelligent…but there’s something that just rubs me the wrong way when i read her interviews. almost like she’s trying too hard

While I think Zoe is great, I am rather sick of her constantly going on and on about how she is not feminine and doesn’t like “pretty” things, is strong and tough and blah blah blah – its almost as if the lady doth protest too much!!!
While I’m sure she is indeed strong and confident, she seems almost overbearing…I don’t know maybe it’s just me.
God knows I have no use for women who are pushovers, who don’t use the brains god gave them or who sit around waiting for a man to do something for them but I guess I prefer to be all those things (strong, independent) without constantly beating everyone else over the head with it.
We get it Zoe, enough already!
And not that I don’t curse (i love a good f bomb and kinda like it when seemingly sweet people curse too lol) – but geez! Every other word out of her mouth is a curse word (except for this interview I suppose) and that’s really not attractive – wouldn’t be for a guy either.

in interviews she comes off a little weird @michelle might be right, i think she’s trying really hard to prove she’s not like all the other girls or something…whatever it is, makes me feel like i’d rather not hang out with her because she’d argue with me the whole time.
She seems like a real sweet, nice girl/lady…. But my gosh she is not the least bit attractive. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but I don’t know she’s not cute.

Avatar was the best thing to happen to her. I guess in time we’ll see if she’s a good actress; when she gets a part that isn’t masked in CGI. I’m sure she’s trying to make it on something other than her looks. Maybe that’s why she seems to be trying too hard. She’s always looked ‘girly,girly’, so I have no idea what she is talking about. Maybe she’s just not ‘feeling’ girly; that could be a whole ‘nuther’ thing.
