I think zac is a bad choice for the lead and I think it’s bad Hollywood is doing a remake of the movie

  • chelsea

Sounds pretty good, and definitely different (:

  • pop86

Can’t wait to hear more about it.
    Very happy

  • Sara Smile

Great move for Zac! This kind of project broadens his horizons in type of role and type of audience he can appeal to. Smart.

  • Johanna

Hahah noooo! This movie is never going to be as good as the original.

  • t

hopefully he sings in the movie… we all know thats what hes best at.

  • Tiptoes

I am happy for Zac. A totally different role and movie genre.

  • http://google BARBARA

I think it is great job oportunity for him and i’m so happy for Zac, he finally is doing a movie, that it is not about teen. congrats!

  • Emmy

Seriously they could not have picked a guy LESS SUITED for the role. I’ve seen the movie and the main character is involved with the Swedish mob, so Hollywood wants me to believe it when whatshisname from HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL is laundering money with the MOB!?!?!?

  • coco

@Emmy: if they chose him, not only to start in the movie, but also to produce it, don’t you think he’s not just ‘the dude from high school musical’ ? we actually haven’t seen many stuff from Zac, none of us can’t judge his acting. if people keep on trusting him, and giving him roles, maybe it means they see something in Zac we can’t see now. just wait, and stop being that arrogant. you’re not the supreme truth keeper, aren’t you?

  • Karen

It is people like you who causes actors to be typecast. You see them in one particular mode and will not allow them a chance to show what else they can deliver. I think if you would open up your mind a little you might be pleasantly surprised what some actors could do. They didn’t choose this kind of life for no reason. Many times these people have a certain type ability that not everyone has. There are certain people who are born with the goods to become surgeon, some are diplomats, and some have various artistic abilities. Give him a break. He is not one of those people who just want to be “famous”.

  • Karen

I think this choice Zac has made to get the rights to this movie shows just how good he is at making interesting choices. Yeah, he could do any fluff type movie but he is interested in doing something interesting which a wide range of adults will find compelling. YAY for Zac.

  • coco

    @Karen: totally agree with you.

  • annasaurus

No more remakes! Leave the original alone. Can’t people read subtitles?! I commend him for trying to be ‘gritty’ but let’s see if mainstream audiences will actually accept that.

  • happy girl

can he just let me have his baby already? geez, the boy is HOT.

  • snake

WHY THE HELL CAN’T AMERICANS READ SUBTITLES? seriously. Why make crappy remakes? Just watch the original!!

  • sheila

@Emmy: its called acting. that’s what actors do. they play different roles.

  • sheila

@snake: why do “europeans” have to dub everything rather than watching a movie in its original language? doesn’t seem like you’re too good at reading subtitles either. and, btw, i’m not american either.

  • Malia

Zac can play any role he sets his mind to. Because he’s focused, dedicated and a consummate professional. He’s not one of those fame-seeking Hollywood dip-s-h-i-t-s who’s in the business for iconic notoriety.

If there had been Internet blog sites like this when Johnny Depp was doing “Twenty-One Jump Street” he would have been criticized for moving on from that type of character and doing both serious and funny movies.

  • Matilda

The Swedish version is abolutely GREAT so I’m not totally convinced that this one will be better, but you never know…

  • Lina

@sheila: You shouldn’t say “europeans” cuz their is a huge diffrent between the countries in europe. For example maybe the germans dub their films, but the sweds don’t. For your information, we actually see the movies in their original language. (Yes we dub kids-movies, but I mean hey they can’t read.)

  • sheila

@Lina: hmmm, just like “snake” shouldn’t have accused all “americans” of not being able to read subtitles? yes, its one country but its one country with about 310,000,000 people. who gets to decide where the stereotyping line gets drawn? tit for tat.

  • athena

@Malia: I totally agree with you Malia. Zac has shown that he’s been a great actor since seeing him on CSI, ER and the one where he get’s blown up. He’s a great actor, focused and driven…he will get his star on Hollywood and he will win awards in which he’ll be saying….” I want to thank the Academy”…go Zac go…I’m happy for him and glad he’s not taking on any comedic roles right now. With Snabba Cash, he’ll get to show more of his acting chops!

  • norah

sorry to say this but looks like he is so desperate to prove something…what a role for someone like him so wholesome and nice…he isn’t the best actor really but he doesn’t need to go this far…so that means hs young fans will be unable to see this kind of film…

  • Frida

Oh hell no! Zac Efron and Joel Kinnamann can not even compare! Why do Hollywood have to remake every foreign film?! There is such a thing as SUBTITLES!!

  • athena

@Emmy: Emmy, I just hope that the people you meet don’t judge you and see you as only the girl that does that one thing and can’t do anything more…. Being that many people still sees Zac as ‘that High School Musical guy” only means to me is that he did his role extremely well. His character will be on peoples minds for a while, and they will see that he can act than be that HSM guy.

I am sorry that you don’t think that Zac has the chops to do this type of role. Have you noticed that each character he portrays have a different look and mannerisms about them? It’s people such as yourself that makes an actor work harder to prove you wrong or otherwise.

  • pita

I’m really excited about the facts that Zac is moving in an entirely different directions from HSM,HAIRSPRAY AND 17 AGAIN.YAY

  • athena

@norah: Good, because Zac is looking for challenging roles…and being the song and dance guy is like walking in your sleep. I think this will be a good challenge for him. Actors live for challenges like this….Johnny Depp did it, Brad Pitt did it….and many others…look at where they are now.

  • athena

@Frida: I’m beginning to see that Hollywood follows a trend, just like they like to typecast their actors. So, if remakes are the way to go….I’m not for remakes myself, but it it’s going to happen…it better be better than the original that’s how I see it…and Zac seems to be up for a challenge…now all’s he got to do, is….B R I N G IT! Can’t wait.

  • athena

@Johanna: Remakes usually aren’t, but with the trend in Hollywood nowadays, they have no choice…sometimes I think it would be better to just rename the remakes…lol…..

  • athena

@Karen: I would like to know how involved was Zac with the aggressive bidding wars that took place between Warner Bros and other studios to get the rights…Warner Bros did this all for Zac…hmmmm….I would love to hear those details.

  • ems412

    @Frida: I agree with you

  • Tiptoes

And this movie has a potential for sequels too. So, if the first movie does well in the BO, it can mean more installments.

If you haven’t seen the trailer its here:

Zac has proven he he great in every role he has chosen so far. I love that he takes chances and this film sounds exciting and will definately
introduce him to a broader audience. Congrats Zac!

  • Mona

Zac seems to be following in Leo di Caprio’s footsteps; Zac admires Leo for his acting and career path. To be a true artist, you have to be willing to take risks. There will always be people who can’t see past their noses, and don’t have the imagination or courage to dream. It’s good to see Zac working to take it to another level.

  • sportsdatingsite

    he is cool

  • roadhouse

Good luck Zac. You are going to need it.

  • amelia25

    Good luck Zac!

  • duuumm

kudos to zac for not going the safe route and sticking to blockbusters, not that theres anything wrong with them.
