Christina Hendricks: Watermelon Sexy

Christina Hendricks chomps down on a juicy slice of watermelon in the new cover shoot from the May 2010 issue of Esquire.

The 34-year-old Mad Men actress penned an article to men, giving tips about what she thinks women love and hate. Here are some excerpts:

Remember what we like. When I first started dating my husband, I had this weird fascination with the circus and clowns and old carnival things and sideshow freaks and all that. About a month after we started dating, he bought me this amazing black-and-white photo book on the circus in the 1930s, and I started sobbing. Which freaked him out. I thought, Oh, my God, I mentioned this three or four weeks ago and talked about it briefly, but he was really listening to me. And he actually went out and researched and found this thing for me. It was amazing.

Panties is a wonderful word. When did you stop saying “panties”? It’s sexy. It’s girlie. It’s naughty. Say it more.

Marriage changes very little. The only things that will get a married man laid that won’t get a single man laid are adultery and whores. Intelligence and humor (and your smell) are what get you laid. That’s what got you laid when you were single. That’s what gets you laid when you’re married. Everything still works in marriage: especially intelligence and humor. Because the sexiest thing is to know you.

She’s so ridiculously beautiful!!! I hope that this will surge people’s idea of beauty… like when Marilyn M was around.. so much sexier than the twiggy girls.

I have no real comments about this woman I just hate this magazine. If you look at their history they started out by putting women down about everything including cooking and decorating and then at the same time trying to make them grossly sexualized and completely one-dimensional so as not to look like a “homosexual magazine” due to their advice regarding cooking and entertaining. They also have a history of belittling feminism. They are a sorry excuse for entertainment. I don’t know why any woman would want to be in it. BOO.

OK, I like Christina. She’s beautiful and has a gorgeous body but they way she says “get laid” several times here, I dunno, it sounds a bit vulgar.

    @Pixy:

i myself am not really a fan of esquire. i confess i’ve never read a single article from this magazine until just a few minutes ago. but in their defense, they were founded in 1932 and that was the majority of men’s attitude’s towards women. i’m not trying to justify what they did by saying this, but they didn’t know any better. MANY people didn’t know any better. however, i think their attitude’s seem to have changed. right now, i’m reading an article from their site titled Greatest Women in History which includes Joan of Arc, Marie Curie, Katharine Hepburn, etc. and even wrote the words “Earned the lasting respect of history for bringing women’s equality into the mainstream” to describe Gloria Steinem. to judge anything, one must consider everything, not just some things.

Um, the getting laid thing she’s telling is so confusing and she makes no sense. I get what she tried to say but I’m not sure she does.

    She sounds like a bimbo!

    Dreads Says:

Now that’s a gorgeous woman. Her body is freakin’ AMAZING. I agree with #1, I hope she’ll kinda change the conception of beauty because a real woman should naturally have curves like this. Such a beauty. Why do men prefer to look at skeletons instead of gorgeous curves like that?!

    Pat Says:

@Dreads: There are several kinds of man, man that prefer skinny, man that prefer blondes, brunettes, fatties, curvy, etc… don’t pretend to know what all men prefer. Marilyn M. had a lot of plastic done, she was not a natural beauty. I wish people would see that there is beauty in women of all shapes, weight, height, colors, etc

    sid Says:

Nothing says sexy like sucking on your thumb and eating watermelon while looking completely vacant. What we have here is another example of Esquire over-compensating for being the magazine of choice for men that prefer men.

    JC Says:

When I finally get to see her without 3 girdles,5 Spanx, duck tape and Photoshop magic then I’ll decide if she’s hot or not. By the way, why is her face photoshopped to look like Julianne Moore?

  17. 17
    Mel Says:

I love her because she’s cute, down to earth and accessable in person, yet at the same time totally sexy – in a natural gorgeous, glamourpuss sensual way. Iove Mad Men.

    :) Says:

She is a very talented actress. And ridiculously pretty.

@anna: Errr…….she’s not. At all. She’s an articulate, funny, intelligent woman. Have you actually watched any of her interviews or do you just know her from her photos?

Christina’s a beautiful woman, but that doesn’t mean you have to look like her (or any celebrity, big or small) to be beautiful.
