Bill Condon to Direct Twilight's 'Breaking Dawn'

Dreamgirls director Bill Condon will helm the fourth film in the franchise, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.

The Oscar-winning director said, “I’m very excited to get the chance to bring the climax of this saga to life on-screen. As fans of the series know, this is a one-of-a-kind book – and we’re hoping to create an equally unique cinematic experience.”

Summit’s Erik Feig, President of Production and Acquisitions, added in a statement, “Bringing Stephenie Meyer’s Breaking Dawn to the screen requires a graceful and intelligent hand and we believe Bill Condon is exactly the right steward, having shown equal and abundant talents of immense creativity and subtle sensitivity.”

Breaking Dawn starts production later this year with Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson.

Wow! New director again! But one movies or two?

# 2

One-of-a-kind book?? This book has copied other books!! It’s ridiculous!! The Sookie Stackhouse Novels and The Vampire Diaires!

# 3

Agreed. Clearly he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Twilight is just a bad summary of other authors’ work.
But for some reason, I find this casting decision HILARIOUS!

# 4

@Simi: His talking about Breaking Dawn, not the entire saga. And yes the last book is one-of-a-kind

# 5

i’m tired of these damn movies

# 6

Huh…no mention if it’s going to be broken into two movies. I wonder if the studio decided to nix that idea.

…why does every movie need a different director?!? what’s the point.

# 8

considering how terrible the two main stars feel their lives have become since staring in these films i’m supriseed they’re still in it! Still the millon $$$$ must ease the whining

You’re right. I don’t I’ve ever read a more terrible book. It’s truly “one-of-a-kind.”

More Edward and Bella please @ 04/28/2010 at 6:10 pm

I can’t wait for Eclipse! Please don’t screw it up. And yeah for Breaking Dawn.

If one of a kind book means that it sucks big monster balls then sure. Just goes to show that a movie studio will do just about anything to make money even if it means bringing a horrible book turned movie to the screen.

Have any of you actually read this book? I’ve read nothing like it… and Im not a tween im 25 and loved this book… It’s dark and graphic… for anyone to say it’s not one of a kind you haven’t read it… it’s completley different to the sookie stackhouse series, ive read that too… AS for VAMPIRE DIARIES – Haha that series is a joke and really is for 5 year olds… Twighlight is a one of a kind series, there has always been vampire series, but not like Twighlight… Glad they have a Oscar winning director and I hope they put the rating up so tweens can’t see it, because I don’t think they will honestly understand the content…Im sure they missed the whole concept of the book too..

The reason they all have different directors is becasue they have to all be made within the shortest period of time possible in order for the vampires not to look aged. They have to pump them out quick or else the actors will have aged too much. And because of that they need different directors because there is so much editing and work to do after filming that one director wouldn’t have time to finish one and move on to the other within the allotted time frame.

@NG: OK – the books are a new take on an old genre – I will give you that. But Stephenie Meyer is a horrible writer. So bad, that even a talented copy editor couldn’t fix all of her errors and repetitive descriptions of Edward and his marble complexion. Ugh.

I guess what really bothers me is that there are so many truly talented writers out there struggling to get published, yet this crap not only gets published, it gains instant fame all thanks to clever marketing.

@NG: I’ve read the whole series. And the first three were fun. Not amazing, but fun. I’m 27 by the way and I hated the last book. It wasn’t that dark and the only “graphic” part was the birthing scene. In fact, NOTHING happens in this whole book except that they get married and have an annoying little girl. I hated that child from conception to the very end of the book. Stupid character. I have NO IDEA how they’re gonna fill two hours worth of interesting material because this tale can be summed up in a paragraph. Oh, and they will NOT up the rating, so there goes anybodies hopes to see Rob and Kristen get it on graphically. And if you think that tweens can’t get the “deep meaning” of this story you must hang around some stupid kids. There was nothing “deep” about this.

I used to like Bill Condon, but turns out he’s a giant dousche. He’ll be a perfect director for a movie about emotionally crippled vampires, since that is what he is.

Believe it or not, Twilight came before Vampire Diaries… They copied her not the other way around. Do your research before you make stupid comments. Seriously. ps I’m 27 and I love the series. The negative commenters should really just lighten up.

I agree with everything you said. I don’t understand why people who hate twilight comment on these things!!!

I liked Breaking Dawn but the one thing that really pissed me off was the minimal interaction between Edward and Renesmee. I love the fact that Renesmee is mommy’s little girl, I like that cause it’s usually Daddy’s little girl, but I would’ve like to have seen Edward hold and kiss her more. It’s all about Jacob, Jacob, Jacob holding and protecting her and that’s just WRONG!!! It’s Edward’s daughter!!!!!!

It’s like Stephenie Meyer said, Yeah, so Edward and Bella get together and have a baby but feeling sorry for Jacob she makes him and Bella raise the little girl!!! That’s how I felt when I read it, so that was the only dissappointing thing!!!!!

I hope that this Bill Condon, gets a really little girl to play the part and doesn’t fully rely on CGI and that this little girl (Renesmee) has more scenes with Robert – even with Kristen obviously, she’s the mom and less with Jacob.

omg bella has a baby and sum1 tld m she turns into a vampire is that tru idk uhhh
