OlderEllen Pompeo Leaving Grey's Anatomy?
Ellen Pompeo carries out her adorable daughter Stella Ivery, 7 months, out of their New York City hotel on Friday morning (May 7).
The 40-year-old Grey’s Anatomy actress is sad that her co-stars Katharine Heigl and T.R. Knight have left the show. Will she follow suit?
“I haven’t said I’m moving on,” Ellen admits to Extra. “I said that when my contract is up after Season 8 [in two years], I would probably not renew. I think the world has had a lot of Meredith Grey.”

PLEASE DONT LEAVE!!!! I JUST CANT GET ENOUGH OF MEREDITH!!! she’s like the centre of the show!!! the glue that pulls everyone and the show together, Grey’s anatomy isnt grey’s anatomy anymore without meredith GREY!!!!
No Ellen, no me! She is the only reason I put up with the sometimes ridiculous storylines at Grey’s! I think she should move on after Season 8 though, do some other greater things which I have no doubt she’s capable of… and let my poor Ellen-addicted-soul move on too, LOL!
Ellen is talking in 2 years, which will be the 8 year mark it has been on…so it think by then it would have run its course and the contract is only til 8 years so i think that would be a perfect ending…i will miss the show, but i rather it go out while the show is still on top..i felt the loss of george a lot but heigl i am not missing so much i think her character has run its course…now w/o Meredith the show will lose its main character and the core of the show. so i think that 8 years will be fine.
Cute baby, each time I see Stella I’m in awe, she’s soooo cute, she’s so chubby.
If Ellen leave GA, I see no point to keep the show going on. Since she has been put in the background, the show is loosing audience.

Oh gosh, about time, when Dr Burke left the show, the storyline no longer interest me and worst of all, I hate Meredith…I stopped watching after Season 2…just can’t stand her whiny voice
Are people stupid??? She’s not leaving the freaking show anytime soon Jeeezz she said it two years and honestly 8 year is a good run for a show so why are all of u freaking out she’s coming back for the next season as well as the one after that!!! My god learn to read.

As it has already said, if Ellen quite, I see no point for GA to continue without her, if the network does, then I’ll just stop watching!

The show should end with the lead character leaving. After all, the series is named after her.
And about her being on the next to years isn’t really relevant. Meredith Grey has been far more absent in seasons 5/6 because of Ellen Pompeo working part time to be with Stella. This takes air time from Meredith Grey and kills many opportunities for story lines.
Honestly, I’m about to be done watching Grey’s because I mainly watched for Meredith/Derek and with Ellen taking so much time off I am losing interest. Even if she stays on for the next two years, they won’t be worth watching since her character is becoming more distant.
And Ellen – trust me… the world has not seen enough Meredith Grey! I/we want more!!!
She’s the most annoying character on the show and the worst actress. Good riddance. Its not as if there isn’t a new younger better-looking Grey waiting in the wings.
Grey A. has lost its thunder but little Stella is adorable one the cutest babies I have seen in a while!
@Jamie: I agree, we need more Meredith! I’m sad that they’re all pretty much over the show. I just started watching the show recently so it’s a bummer. I can’t help thinking when I would watch, about how much they were probably just itching to get the hell out of there. That doesn’t make watching the show very fun.
Of course Ellen knows Shonda knows ABC knows, Grey’s ends the moment Ellen leaves. thats why Shonda said she would get down on her knees and beg Ellen to stay.
Ellen is the best actress and is wonderful and of course we want more Meredith Grey. Lexie Grey will never carry that title , it won’t work they tried and she failed, the people don’t want her, they want Ellen.
Any My God they have spoken this week so loudly how much Ellen is loved. I love it.
