Cynthia Nixon Talks Coming Out and Cancer

Cynthia Nixon is looking lovely on the cover of The Advocate‘s June/July 2010 issue, on newsstands soon!

Here’s what the 44-year-old Sex and the City actress had to share:

On confirming rumors of her coming out: “I was like, ‘Really, we can just confirm?’ So that’s just what we did. It was so fantastic.”

On doing a nude scene after beating breast cancer: “They didn’t know about [my cancer battle] at the time. Generally, my thoughts are, if they ask me to do [a nude scene], I’ll do one. I mean, I won’t do anything, but I feel like if Michael Patrick [King] wants me to do it, there’s a reason he wants me to do it.”

On acclimating her son to his new home with her now-fiancee, Christine Marinoni: “His teachers were just so great about it, because they were the first people that started referring to ‘Charlie’s moms,’ which is so lovely, and we really hadn’t done that yet. So Charlie came home one day and he said [to Christine], ‘You’re my mommy too!’”
